Sort of the opposite of that line from Field of Dreams, McLaren Special Operations exists in a world of If you come we will build it. Understandably, this can take the form of an infinite number of different Tailored Drivers, so it makes our life a bit more difficult. Take this Satin Urban Green 765LT for example- we simply can’t find a color code, nor can we find another example of MSO painting a car this color. Search after search only returns this exact car wearing different wheels. Now, we can surmise that MSO borrowed an existing color, likely BMW’s Urban Green, and applied it lovingly with a satin clear final stage, and called it a day. If that is indeed the case, then paint code goes from unknown to a variation of the “YA04” that we’ve seen before and is linked above.
So here we are, exactly where we find ourselves with many McLaren finds, wondering what the precise code is. It’s admittedly at times a frustrating endeavor, but as Tailored Driver grows we want to catalog and feature builds such as these to provide equal parts reference and inspiration. For now, place this MSO build in that bucket. We can’t wait to see how you interpret it with your very own Tailored Driver.
What: 2010 Audi S4 Color: Audi exclusive Nogaro Blue(nogaroblau; pearl effect UNI; Z5M; Audi) VIN: WAUMGAFLXAA152848 Mileage: 116,100 miles Price: Auction CarFax:Link Window Sticker: N/A Location: Poway, CA Dealer Listing:Cars and Bids
If you’ve been an Audi fan for a while, chances are that when the Four Rings replaced the iconic Nogaro Blue with Sprint Blue for the B7 generation of S4 and RS 4 you questioned the decision. And when the B8 launched with Sprint as well, it became apparent that Audi wasn’t going back to the Nogaro well any longer, but at the time Audi exclusive was simply not widely known as a path to right that wrong. As such, we’re led to believe that the original Tailor of this S4 was a tried and true brand evangelist who put their money where their mouth was. By pairing Nogaro with a 6 speed transmission, finished with alcantara-centered black leather seats and brushed aluminum interior trim, this S4 harkens back to the prior generations in many ways. The only remaining question is- will others take note of just how special this S4 is, or will it fall squarely into budget commuter territory? Follow along with the auction on Cars and Bids to find out.
What: 1998 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Color: Pastel Yellow (non-metallic UNI; Q1; Porsche) VIN: WP0AA2991WS321041 Mileage: 29,206 miles Price: $275,000 CarFax:Link Window Sticker: N/A Location: Holt Motorsports, West Chester, PA Dealer Listing:PCarMarket
Green on yellow was a thing for a hot minute amongst some cars in the 1970s. Outside of that moment in history, it is a unique and acquired taste sort of decision. No doubt polarizing, we have equally no doubt that such a combination on a rare and low mileage 993-generation Porsche 911 Carrera 4S would be treasured by the right buyer.
If you’re that right buyer, you’re definitely going to want to take a closer look at this.
BMW-only sale on 24 May celebrates history of BMW as hosts of revered Concorso

London, England – Broad Arrow Auctions, a Hagerty (NYSE: HGTY) company, continues to add exceptional collector cars to the offering for its inaugural year as the official auction partner of the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.
Today, Broad Arrow is delighted to announce that a significant BMW-only sale will feature as part of its two-day Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este auction. Taking place on the evening of Saturday 24 May, Broad Arrow’s BMW auction will celebrate the heritage of BMW as hosts of the revered Concorso. Early featured collector cars for the BMW-only auction represent halo cars for the marque across nearly 70 years of production.
“It is a real honour for us to host a special auction to celebrate BMW and its legacy of hosting the famous Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este,” said Joe Twyman, VP of Sales for the EMEA Region at Broad Arrow. “We have collated some of the very best cars from BMW’s illustrious history, including both classic and modern as well as iconic motorsport racers. Our evening sale adds a new dimension to the premier event in the concours world, and I am excited to present some of the most exceptional collector BMW cars available, with more soon to be announced.”
Featured cars offered from private collectors at the BMW-only sale include: 1958 BMW 507 Series II Roadster (Estimate: €2.000.000 – €2.300.000)
It is rare to come across a BMW 507 that was under original ownership for nearly its first half-century on the road. Yet this 507, chassis number 70127, can tell such a story. First registered to “Fa. W. Bartels jr.” of Braunschweig, Germany in 1958, it remained in the family for nearly half a century before they reluctantly parted with it. Subsequent owners lavished a great deal of attention on the 507, including a partial interior retrim and a fresh black soft-top. Its most recent owner purchased the car in 2018 and clearly saw great value in its exceptional originality, fastidiously maintained over the previous six decades, though he added just seven kilometres over seven years.
This rare BMW 507 Series II Roadster is offered as a highly original example and is among the most collectible BMW models. Additionally, this sought-after and timeless mid-century sports car celebrates its 70th anniversary this year and is eligible for the most prestigious driving and concours d’elegance events worldwide.
1980 BMW M1 (Estimate: €450.000 – €550.000)
BMW’s “M” division created the M1 as its first fully independent engineering project. Designed to compete with Porsche in Group 5 racing, the M1 featured a mid-engine layout, a tubular space frame chassis by Gianpaolo Dallara, and a striking wedge design by Giorgetto Giugiaro. Just 453 examples were made between 1978 and 1981, including road and racing versions, with the M1 playing a key role in the Procar BMW M1 Championship with drivers Niki Lauda and Nelson Piquet winning the first two seasons.
One of only 71 road cars finished in red from new, this BMW M1 was originally delivered in Berlin to German record producer, Frank Farian. Producer for famous names such as Boney M and Meat Loaf, Farian commissioned BMW Motorsport to modify the bodywork to match that of the famous M1 Procars. This included a large rear wing and a front splitter, while the flared wheel arches allowed wider 16-inch BBS RS multipiece wheels. Additional upgrades performed by Farian included reupholstering the seats with full leather, and unsurprisingly, the car’s sound system was upgraded with a Becker Mexico stereo, Clarion 150EQB graphic equaliser and additional speakers.
Farian owned the M1 for over a decade before selling it to an employee who kept it for the next 18 years when it found a new owner in Belgium. It returned to Germany in 2012 with a new owner and in 2020 it won the Owner’s Choice Award at the prestigious Salon Privé Concours in the U.K.
Following this showing, the car was sold to its current caretaker and was taken to a noted specialist in Sweden for servicing and the paintwork was restored to its original red. On completion, it was displayed at the inaugural 2024 The Aurora Scandinavian Concours in Sweden.
This remarkable BMW M1 has covered just under 91,000 kilometres (56,000 miles), has known celebrity ownership, and benefits from period modifications by BMW Motorsport.
2000 BMW Z8 (Estimate: €200.000 – €225.000)
Inspired by the 1956 BMW 507, the Z8, introduced in the late 1990s, blended retro design with modern performance. Designed by Henrik Fisker, the Z8’s styling incorporated nods to the 507, including a sculpted dashboard and front fender vents. Built on a bespoke aluminium chassis with a two-seat roadster body, it features the 4.9-litre V8 engine from the E39 BMW M5, producing 400 cv and 500 nm of torque. With a weight of 1,585 kg, the Z8 could accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds, reaching a top speed of 250 km/h.
Delivered new in Italy on 22 June 2001 by Autosport Brescia, this Z8 was specified in sleek Titanium Silver over a striking two-tone Sport Red and Black leather interior. Offered by just its third owner, the Z8 is in excellent condition, having covered just over 23,000 kilometres during its lifetime.
1981 BMW M1 (Estimate: €475.000 – €575.000)
This M1 was completed on 30 January 1981, one of 11 M1s delivered new to the BMW importer in the United Arab Emirates. It was purchased by Vijay Mallya, co-founder of the Force India Formula One Team, with the digital history file showing it was first registered in the U.K. on 30 January 1989.
It remained under Mallya’s ownership and travelled with him to Dubai, then to the U.K. and on to Alaska in 2012 before returning to the U.K. in 2014. Having owned it for 29 years, he sold the car in 2016 to its current owner in the Netherlands.
“These wonderful cars are just a taste of what is to come,” added Joe Twyman. “More fine examples from BMW’s wonderful history are soon to be announced.”

Aston Martin’s proud association with the Royal Family continues with granting of a new Royal Warrant
King Charles III’s new Royal Arms now applied to Aston Martin’s branding, representing the first time the marque has served by appointment to the British sovereign
[source: Aston Martin]
Gaydon, England – For the first time in the marque’s rich 112-year history, Aston Martin’s iconic wings will proudly sit beside the royal Coat of Arms of the British sovereign, having been awarded a Royal Warrant by Appointment to His Majesty The King.
“Our appointment by His Majesty represents a truly proud and historic moment for Aston Martin, reinforcing the longstanding and esteemed relationship we hold with the Royal Family,” said Adrian Hallmark, CEO of Aston Martin.
“Displayed with pride across our branding, the Royal Warrant is a testament to the dedication of our employees and our unwavering commitment to the values of British design, craftsmanship, and engineering excellence. Principles that His Majesty has steadfastly championed.”
Whilst official confirmation of the new Royal Warrant came in May 2024, only now has Aston Martin formally applied the prestigious Royal Arms to its branding, following release of the new Royal Coat of Arms of King Charles III by the College of Arms. Founded in 1484 the College of Arms is responsible for creating and maintaining official registers of coats of arms and pedigrees. The heralds who make up the College are members of the Royal Household, and act under Crown authority.
The granting of a new Royal Warrant follows Aston Martin being honoured for innovation with the King’s Award for Enterprise in 2024. It continues Aston Martin Lagonda’s eight-decade long history with the Royal Family, dating back to 1954, when Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, took delivery of a three-litre Lagonda. The following year, Queen Elizabeth II’s cousin, the Duke of Kent, acquired a DB2/4 from the Aston Martin team that had won the 1955 Monte Carlo rally. But it is The King’s beloved DB6 Mk2 Volante that has remained an icon of the Royal Family’s long association with the marque and Aston Martin’s hand built British sports cars.
The King has been a member of the Aston Martin Owners Club since 1973, with Aston Martin holding a Royal Warrant as a Motor Car Manufacturer and Repairer to His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales since 1982 and now carries the arms of the sovereign for the first time.
In more recent times, the DB6 Mk2 Volante took centre stage of the wedding of the current Prince and Princess of Wales in 2011, with the sight of the Royal Couple departing down The Mall in an Aston Martin thrilling thousands of cheering onlookers. And in 2020, as Prince of Wales, His Majesty officially opened Aston Martin’s new state of the art DBX SUV manufacturing facility in St Athan, Wales, a move that saw manufacturing commence of the first production car built in the country for more than 50 years.
In 2022, the same car provided a grand entrance for The King and Queen to the Opening Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. While more recently, in 2024 it was proudly displayed at Sandringham during a gathering of the Aston Martin Owners Club, which saw more than 75 Aston Martin models grace the royal residence. A fitting celebration for a brand now decorated by royal appointment to the monarch.

2020 saw Lawrence Stroll become the company’s Executive Chairman, alongside significant new investment. This coincided with Aston Martin’s return to the pinnacle of motorsport with the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One® Team and commenced a new era for the iconic British marque.

It may have begun as a Porsche Carrera Cup color of the 964 era, but Ruby Star has been a popular choice for BMW Individual for a very long time. Yes, it’s polarizing, but this hot pink is also impossible to miss. It’s a bold choice, particularly for what looks like part of the new car inventory at BMW of Cincinnati North.
It’s paired here with partial Silverstone Grey and black interior that is also very handsome. Option packages include M Carbon Exterior Package, Executive Package, Driving Assistance Professional Package, M Drive Professional and Carbon Fiber Silver Thread High Glass Trim.
An interesting take on limited editions might just be the latest from Range Rover. Dubbed the Range Rover Sport SV Park City Edition, the brand dropped images on their social media channel recently. We’ll embed that here.
Why are we calling it a “micro batch”? In the comments they mentioned it’s a run limited to just three units.
Beyond the photos, Range Rover hasn’t yet shared further details than that. With just three units being sold though, one has to wonder if three friends from Park City, Utah decided to do a group buy of a storm trooper spec Range Rover Sport SV.
Inspired by ‘Hanami’, the Japanese tradition of viewing cherry blossoms in the spring
Client sought to capture the beauty of this natural spectacle to share with their family
Client’s vision realised through 250,000 stitches and six months of development
Starlight Headliner recreates cherry blossom with exquisite embroidery
First-ever application of sculptural 3D embroidery in a Rolls-Royce motor car
Rolls-Royce Phantom nameplate celebrates its centenary in 2025
[source: Rolls-Royce]
“Cherry blossoms are cherished in Japan as a symbol of the ephemeral nature of life and the beauty of transience. With this magnificent commission, we translate an internationally renowned moment into our pinnacle motor car, Phantom, with exquisite embroidery comprising more than 250,000 stitches. For the first time at Rolls-Royce, we have applied three-dimensional embroidery that gives the falling flower petals a tactile, sculptural quality. Developed using ancient Japanese stitching techniques, this motor car represents a deeply personal memory for the client and demonstrates the power of Bespoke in uniting individual meaning, heritage craftsmanship and modern artistry.” Martina Starke, General Manager, Bespoke Design, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars
As Sakura season arrives, blanketing various regions around the world in pink petals, Rolls‑Royce Motor Cars is proud to present Phantom Cherry Blossom. This magnificent one-of-one Phantom Extended commission is inspired by the fleeting beauty of the Sakura blooms and a Japanese client’s formative memories of this stunning natural spectacle.
In Japanese culture, cherry blossoms are a powerful symbol of nature’s rhythms, the arrival of spring and the beauty of impermanence. As Sakura blooms are short-lived, lasting only around a week, they serve as a poignant reminder to cherish the present and embrace life. This symbolism is deeply embedded in Japanese art, literature and philosophy.
Cherry blossoms are celebrated in the centuries-old tradition of ‘Hanami’, or ‘flower viewing’. During Hanami, families and friends gather beneath the delicate pink blooms of cherry trees for picnics and celebrations, relishing the transient beauty of the season.
A client in Japan wished to capture their cherished Hanami memories, spanning both childhood and parenthood. They wished to create their highly Bespoke Phantom as a legacy and experience to be passed down through the generations in their family, evoking the same spirit as Hanami itself.
PHANTOM CHERRY BLOSSOM: A BESPOKE VISION BROUGHT TO LIFE The design for Phantom Cherry Blossom was conceived three years ago, when Rolls-Royce artisans met the commissioning client in Japan to fully understand their vision. This elegant, exquisitely detailed motor car is a stunning example of Bespoke artistry, not only expressing the client’s personal ambition but also the peerless skill and commitment of the Bespoke Collective. Now delivered to its proud custodian in Japan, this one-of-a-kind masterpiece is a true reflection of their individuality and passion.
FLORAL SANCTUARY: EXPANSIVE 250,000-STITCH EMBROIDERY Inside the motor car, intricate embroidery captures the sensation of sitting beneath a flowering tree during Hanami, just as the client envisioned. A Bespoke Starlight Headliner is adorned with an embroidered cherry bough, sprinkled with delicate white blossoms. The falling petal embroidery appears on the rear door panels and Privacy Suite partition between the front and rear passenger compartments. The design and development of this remarkable expression of contemporary craft spanned more than six months. The headliner required three weeks alone to embroider and exceeds 250,000 stitches.
As light plays across this expansive embroidery, it reveals the intricate detail and ingenuity required to bring it to life. The rich thread texture of the embroidered cherry tree is achieved using an offset tatami stitch, inspired by the ancient Japanese weave technique.
The embroidered branches appear to be intertwining, growing over and under one another. To achieve this effect, a single artisan meticulously aligned 11 individually embroidered frame sections to create a single, seamless graphic rising from the rear of the motor car and flowing forward over the rear passengers.
Finally, the headliner is embroidered with cherry blossom flowers, formed of individual satin-stitch petals designed to capture the light at different angles with a jewel-like quality. The petals can be seen throughout the rear cabin, falling onto the doors and division of the motor car’s Privacy Suite.
ROLLS-ROYCE FIRST: SCULPTURAL 3D EMBROIDERY In a Rolls-Royce first, the interior is completed with three-dimensional cherry petal embroidery. These tactile, sculptural details grace the division, creating a striking contrast to the classic stitchwork of the falling cherry petals on the doors.
Creating these three-dimensional embroideries required specialists to pioneer a new technique, where the thread is layered upon itself to form a self-supporting structure. Each petal is then shaped and sculpted into its final form by hand before being stitched into place, individually positioned to complement the interior lighting and create soft shadow effects.
FLORAL INSPIRATION: AN ELEGANT BESPOKE STATEMENT Extending the Hanami theme, a falling petal motif appears on the inner lining of the Bespoke umbrellas, concealed within the motor car’s doors. The exterior also features a subtle reference to the theme; the Crystal over Arctic White coachwork incorporates a distinctive hand-painted coachline that elegantly tapers midway along the rear passenger door and features a delicate cherry blossom motif – an elegant preview of the artistry within.

Tradition unites: for the twelfth time, Audi brings personalization to life at the Italian design fair
Perfection in detail: business flagship A6 Avant impresses with an upgraded interior in Baikal Blue and Neodymium Gold
New colors and materials for Audi exclusive’s 30th anniversary: “Material Bar” shows the variety of personal design
[source: Audi AG]
Having set standards in the personalization of premium vehicles since 1995, Audi is celebrating the 30th anniversary of top-level customization this year. For the occasion, Audi exclusive is premiering new colors and materials that give the business flagship A6 Avant a unique character. At Milan Design Week from April 7 to 13, the master of upgrades will unveil a special representative of the luxury model. In addition to the wide range of personalization options made possible by Audi exclusive, exhibitions on aerodynamics and lighting technology provide interesting insights.
Your car is an unmistakable expression of your personality – that is the philosophy of Audi exclusive. With countless options for personalization, customers can design their vehicle as a one-of-a-kind model. The highest quality materials and a passion for detail are the foundation of individual luxury.
The new A6 Avant impresses with perfect proportions that feature a long wheelbase, large wheels, and sculpted body. At Milan Design Week, Audi exclusive will unveil an upgraded version of the luxury model. The sports seats are finished in a luxurious combination of Baikal Blue and Neodymium Gold with contrasting stitching in Baikal Blue. In combination with the Vanadium applications, the A6 Avant takes elegance and exclusivity to perfection.
“Neodymium is a metal that occurs naturally in combination with minerals. Our selection of colors was inspired by this luxurious element,” said Color & Trim Designer Nadine Wolfinger. “Combined with the intense hue of Baikal Blue, the interior takes on a particularly elegant appearance. In bright light, the blue appears vibrant and radiant, but in subdued light it takes on a soothing, almost mystical depth.”
Visitors to the design fair can visit a “Material Bar”, where specially configured exhibits – such as three seating islands with different colors of leather and contrasting stitching – give them an overview of the wide selection offered by Audi exclusive.
Two focused exhibitions explore the themes of aerodynamics and light, while an art installation provides an impressive backdrop. Again, the A6 Avant serves as the inspiration. Its sporty and elegant design contributes to its outstanding aerodynamics, ensuring a drag coefficient of 0.25, which is the best value for an Avant with a combustion engine in the history of Audi. The lighting technology also sets standards. The second-generation digital OLED rear lights, which are optionally available for the rear of the A6 Avant, combine lighting design and innovative technology in a unique way.
More than 20 individual finishes and progressive wheel designs
The ability to integrate high-demand design options directly into production has improved significantly in recent years. Drivers of the standard A6 Avant can already choose between eleven colors for the exterior, including the completely new Midnight Green as well as Ascari Blue Metallic and Daytona Gray Pearl Effect, which are available exclusively for vehicles with an S line exterior.
The Audi exclusive portfolio also includes a wide variety of additional finishes – from sporty Merlin Pearl Effect and elegant Siam Beige Metallic to the iconic Nogaro Blue, which has characterized the Audi exclusive range and legendary models such as the RS 2 from the beginning. In addition to special Audi exclusive colors, the standard colors of other Audi models are also available.
To match the selected finish, there is a wide selection of progressive wheel designs in various colors. The most striking wheels are the 21-inch wheels in a multi-spoke design from Audi Sport, including one in burnished metallic black, the only wheel in the portfolio to feature a tri-color design. The latter is especially eye-catching in combination with the areas in black metallic, matt Neodymium Gold, and burnished silver.
Interior highlights in Baikal Blue and Neodymium Gold
In addition to the exclusive exterior colors, Audi exclusive offers eleven main colors for the interior design, complemented by three accent colors, which customers can choose from to give their A6 Avant an unmistakable look. The new interior colors include Baikal Blue, Neodymium Gold, Ginger White, Almond Beige, Mint Gray, and Mora Violet.
Audi exclusive also offers two specific design packages that add high-contrast colors to the interior to make it unmistakable. The first features side bolsters in dark Baikal Blue, while the seat center panel stands out with its perforated fine napa leather and neodymium diamond stitching. Contrasting Baikal Blue seams balance both colors perfectly.
The sporty, elegant style is complemented by additional Baikal Blue interior elements, including the center armrest, center console trim, decorative elements on the instrument panel and doors, and front and rear door armrests. These elements come in the microfiber material Dinamica, which looks and feels like suede, but about half of it is recycled. All elements feature neodymium contrasting stitching, as do the black leather steering wheel, the upper part of the dashboard, and the floor mats.
The second design package focuses on textiles and uses the light gray fabric Kaskade and Neodymium Gold accents to create a play of colors. The cover Kaskade is reminiscent of natural materials such as wool and is not additionally dyed. It is partially made from recycled materials such as selvedge and recycled polyester.
Bright Orange contrasting stitching and exclusive decorative inlays
The two design packages are complemented by bright contrasting stitching that adds additional accents. Customers can freely choose the colors of the seats, interior elements, steering wheel, and floor mats. There is no limit to the customization options. In addition to customer favorites such as Iguana Green and Ocean Blue, a new color is available: Bright Orange adds that certain something and gives the A6 Avant a sporty look, especially when combined with black leather.
Audi exclusive also offers specific decorative inlays. A completely new offer, now available for the first time for the Audi A6, is poplar in natural silver brown and a light gray linen decor. With its homogeneous structure and luxurious color, the poplar decor blends harmoniously into the interior. It is also very light, durable, and elastic, making it perfect to work with. The linen is simultaneously subtle and elegant with its highly interest fiber structure that also includes recycled polyester.

Our guess is the brand’s performance software, but both brand names – 034 and MTM – should pique the interest of any true Audi aficionado. We’d be remiss to not also mention the lower ride height, although it’s unclear who provided the drop.
