What: 2010 Audi S4 Color:Audi exclusive Solar Orange (non-metallic UNI; LY2G; Audi) VIN: WAUMGAFL7AA093077 Mileage: 27,600 Price at Time of this Writing: $20,000 CarFax: N/A Window Sticker: Pictured below Location: Fountain Inn, SC Auction listing:Link
Why we love it:
Incredibly rare early Audi exclusive build in Solar Orange with impossibly uncommon Tuscan Brown two-tone seats, low miles and a 6 speed manual transmission… what’s not to love? Found on Cars and Bids, this Tailored Driver represents an easy (and maybe cheap!) way of getting into something unique while not suffering the parts availability issues that come with proper rarity. Imagine not springing the extra $2,500(!!!) for an exclusive build on your new Audi back in 2010… couldn’t be us.
What: 1984 Audi Sport quattro Color: Alpine White (alpinweiß; non-metallic uni; L90E / P1; Audi) VIN: WAUZZZ85ZEA905035 Mileage: Not Reported Price at Time of this Writing: Estimated $375,000 to $475,000, No Reserve CarFax: N/A Original MSRP: N/A Location: RM Sotheby’s 2025 Arizona Auction Auction listing:Link
Why we love it:
Whether this car qualifies to be highlighted on this site is perhaps debatable. On the positive side, it’s one of only 164 road variants of the homologation special Audi Sport quattro ever built. That definitely makes it a limited production vehicle much like the Ferrari F40, yet it’s a repaint (originally red) with a standard color (Alpine White), making it not factory original. Also, it’s got a non-factory interior, so there’s that.
Here’s the thing though. The car is one of five imported by Audi Club North America founder Frank Beddor back in period when North American Audi motorsport boss Jo Hoppen was working with people like Frank to elevate the image of the newly reformed Audi brand. As a result, Beddor ordered no less than five Sport quattros, legally importing them through Andial when they were still new, then upgraded a few of the cars (including this one) by Audi Sport suppliers like Lehmann who built the engine.
It’s said this car was repainted white in order to stand out more at Ferrari Club events where it went as a ringer to beat up on Maranello’s finest with Beddor’s son Steve at the wheel. At some point not outlined in the RM Sotheby’s listing linked above, the car was also fitted with a white leather interior.
It’s a little known fact that color and trim options on the Sport quattro were few. Colors were Toronado Red (128 produced), Alpine White (48), Copenhagen Blue (21), Malachite Green (15) and Black (2). According to legend, those two black examples went to Walter Röhrl and Ferdinand Piëch.
On the inside, all cars came with a putty-ish grey/brown leather and seat centers in an Alcantara type material. Any deviations from that, like the white leather interior in this car, would have been done at a later time as these cars were built long before Audi exclusive ever existed.
Even still, we applaud the white on white decision. Sport quattro interiors have always looked drab to us anyway, while white-on-white was cool across the 80s car industry spectrum from Volkswagen’s Rabbit/Golf Cabriolet to the Lamborghini Countach.
What: 2016 BMW M6 Coupe Color: BMW Individual Frozen Black Metallic (frozenschwarz; metallic matte; U91; BMW) VIN: WBS6J9C53GD934457 Mileage: 51,000 Price at Time of this Writing: $14,100 CarFax:Link Window Sticker: N/A Location: North Port, FL Auction listing:Link
Why we love it:
To quote Cars and Bids founder Doug Demuro, now THIS is cool! A Tailored Driver that’s just as spec-rare as it is production rare, this BMW Individual Frozen Black M6 coupe is one of just 23 total LCI models to be optioned with a 6 speed manual, and one of 68 to feature it throughout the model’s 5 year run. As an added bonus, this M6 was also optioned with a BMW Individual Opal White interior. While it does carry a Lemon branding on the title, this could be a cheap ticket to one of the most rare modern BMW’s available.
What: 2013 Audi Q5 hybrid Color: Audi exclusive Papaya Orange (non-metallic UNI; LY2B; Audi) VIN: WA1C8BFP2DA042301 Mileage: 247,000 Price at Time of this Writing: $2,000 CarFax: N/A Window Sticker: N/A Location: Hampstead, NC Marketplace listing:Link
Why we love it:
Those memes about sending each other Facebook Marketplace listings of equal parts poor and awesome decisions at 1AM? That’s this Tailored Driver in a nut shell. Entering our radar over the weekend, this Audi exclusive Papaya Orange Q5 hybrid is the kind of thing fever dreams are made of- super rare color, weird options (tan interior and no sunroof?), and ‘needs work’ giving little context to why the price is so low. We’ve reached out to the seller, but apart from an also-ran feature on German Cars for Sale Blog back in the day, details on this Q5 hybrid are slim. Since it already seems to need a new motor, we hope whoever snags this drops in something wild, swaps out the tan interior for Black SQ5 bits, and swings for the fences.
What: 2019 Volkswagen Golf R Spektrum Color: Spektrum Irish Green (irischgrün; Y78; Porsche) VIN: WVWVA7AU4KW202921 Mileage: 30,000 miles Price at Time of this Writing: Bid to $30,369 with Six Days Left in Auction CarFax:Link Original MSRP: $41,495 Location: West Chester, PA Auction listing:Link
Why we love it:
Beyond special or limited edition models, Volkswagen hasn’t had its own in-house tailoring department. However, in 2019, then Golf product planner Megan Closset decided to take matters into her own hands. VW of America was never going to set up a program like Audi has with Audi exclusive, but by doing a very limited run of a large spectrum of colors she could effectively do the same thing. So, that run was made ergo “Spektrum”, and those cars showed up at dealers with enthusiasts seeking them out like a Hot Wheels Treasuer Hunt.
That was MY2019, and by now it’s rare that these cars come up for sale. When they do, they’re often modified as is common practice in the Volkswagen ownership community. Collector cars, as we know, tend to carry more value when they’re relatively true to original form. Cars like this one, we’d argue, are sympathetically modified… meaning that there are a few mods like Sparco wheels and a removal of badges, but stock parts were retained.
More importantly, we’d argue Irish Green is one of the best colors you could have gotten. Many here probably already know that Irish Green is a classic Porsche hue. It’s steeped in heritage, as is Volkswagen’s association with Porsche, so a double win. This one’s also well kept and relatively low mileage, so if you’ve been looking for a Golf R Spectrum then this one should be near the top of your list.
What: 2021 Audi RS 6 avant Color: Audi exclusive Voodoo Blue (voodoo-blau; non-metallic UNI; Z12; Porsche) VIN: WUA1CBF25MN908522 Mileage: 10,920 Price at Time of this Writing: $109,990 CarFax: N/A Window Sticker: Pictured below Location: Wilsonville, OR Dealer listing:Link
Why we love it:
Porsche’s Paint to Sample Voodoo Blue slots right in between a number of popular Blues on the Tailored Driver spectrum- darker than Mexico Blue, lighter than Nogaro Blue, and much less bright than Riviera Blue. See here on an Audi RS 6 avant, Voodoo Blue is striking due to the sheer amount of it, although we feel it’s not over the top. The original Tailor of this RS 6 saw fit to continue this theme on the interior as well, opting for slightly more pale Ocean Blue deviated stitching, RS 6 script, and seat belts- racking up a $15,000 bill in the process. In all, this RS 6 carried a nearly $160,000 sticker, a remarkable $49,000 in options on a car that Audi of America didn’t really believe US customers would buy. Offered at $109,990 at time of writing, we dare say this just may be a bargain.
What: 1994 Ferrari 348 Spider Color: “Canna di Fucile” Metallic (cannadifucilemetallic; metallic UNI; 703/C; Ferrari) VIN: ZFFRG43A3R0098406 Mileage: 17,800 Price at Time of this Writing: $110,000 – $140,000 estimate CarFax: N/A Window Sticker: N/A Location: The Amelia Auction 2025 by Broad Arrow, Amelia Island, FL Dealer listing:Link
Why we love it:
One of the great things about a tailored build is the ability to move away from the predictable. On the spectrum of Ferrari, red over tan is ubiquitous, but grey over blue… now that’s something pretty unique. Such is the case with this ’94 348 Spider that’s been entered into the upcoming 2025 Broad Arrow auction held during The Amelia concours week in Florida.
The name of the color is Canna di Fucile Metallic, a medium grey metallic that might look a bit drab with simple black interior, but throw in some deep Blue Connolly leather with matching blue top and it’s a whole new ballgame.
What: 2023 Audi S8 Color: Brewster Green (brewstergrün; nonmetallic UNI; 22B; Porsche) VIN: WAULSAF88PN003524 Mileage: 7,921 Price at Time of this Writing: $99,995 CarFax:Link Window Sticker: N/A Location: Birmingham, MI Dealer listing:Link
Why we love it:
Even in the rare air of D-segment German luxury sedans, the Audi S8 tends to garner an extra level of respect as a performance legend thanks to its one-time association with the movie Ronin. Now throw in a special color with deep heritage like Porsche’s Brewster Green and pair that with always handsome Cognac leather interior and you have something very special.
This one’s also got low mileage, which greatly helps the case for adding a special tailored car to your garage – bonus points if it matches your Brewster Green Porsche.
What: 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 Color: Paint to Sample Viola Purple Metallic (veilchenlilametallic; metallic UNI; W84; Porsche) VIN: WP0AC2A94JS176463 Mileage: 11,525 Price at Time of this Writing: $209,995 CarFax:Link Window Sticker: Link Location: Glen Cove, NY Dealer listing:Link
Why we love it:
Not to be confused with the much darker Viola Metallic, Porsche’s Paint to Sample Viola Purple Metallic is a much more playful, vibrant flavor of the historically royal color. When paired with Porsche’s sporting GT3 variant of it’s iconic 911, Viola Purple Metallic represents a juxtaposition that proves its Tailor is not one to take themselves too seriously. On the inside, splashes of yellow deviate from Black leather and Race Tex, most predominantly in the form of seat belts, stitching, and headrest script. In all it’s a bold package that seems to just simply work.
What: 2023 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Color: Paint to Sample Fjord Green (fjordgrün; non-metallic UNI; 5705; 6005; Porsche) VIN: WP0AB2A98PS220959 Mileage: 922 Price at Time of this Writing: Available upon request CarFax:Link Window Sticker: Pictured below Location: Miami, FL Dealer Listing:Link
Why we love it:
If much of the current Porsche market is the safe alternative short-term investment as it may seem, this Paint to Sample Fjord Green 911 Carrera GTS might be considered speculative at best. Allow us to explain- a claimed $136,000 in options were applied to this GTS, just $8,000 shy of matching of the car’s $144,000 base price, and then it simply was not driven. Two years and 922 miles later, this GTS is now for sale with a price that’s only polite to share when directly asked for, although we’d bet it’s near the $257,699 it fetched on Bring a Trailer back in August. So what does $136,000 of options get you? Well, apart from nearly all the menu items, you get the very rare Fjord Green paint, CXX-granted door cards with Agave Green uppers stitched in Mojave Beige and lowers in Cognac Leather, as well as Cognac leather on the seats, shift boot, storage bin, knee pads, and lower center console. Oh, and the Agave/Cognac theme is applied to the air vents as well.
