Market Find: F10 BMW M5 Competition in Yas Marina Blue. Hot or Not?

    What: 2016 BMW M5 Competition
Color: BMW Individual Yas Marina Blue (yasmarinablau; metallic; B68; BMW)
    VIN: WBSFV9C51GG343496
    Mileage: 83,345
Price at Time of this Writing: $44,991
    CarFax: N/A
    Window Sticker: N/A
    Location: Boise, ID
    Dealer Listing: Link

    Why we love it:

Based on the reaction to this car’s post on the BMW Individual Market & Discussion group on Facebook, Yas Marina Blue is a surprisingly polarizing color. Even still, it’s got strong BMW heritage having been a factory option color for the F80-generation BMW M3, and like the M2’s Zandvoort Blue, it was stylistically intended to hark the Bavarian blue tone in the trim-colore rhombus design of the BMW Motorsport M badge. Frankly, we’re fans, but it seems opinions are definitely split.

Whatever your take, the presence of a Yas Marina M5 Competition is an interesting one, because the color wasn’t offered on it. This is a special paint build from BMW Individual, and we applaud the original owner for going for a bold M3 color on the bigger Bimmer M car. According to the Facebook post, it’s one of just two made.

  • Market Find: 2023 Porsche Paint to Sample Irish Green Cayman GT4

Market Find: 2023 Porsche Paint to Sample Irish Green Cayman GT4

    What: 2023 Porsche Cayman GT4
Color: Paint to Sample Irish Green (irischgrün; non-metallic UNI; L60E; Porsche)
    VIN: WP0AC2A86PS275446
    Mileage: 1,648
Price at Time of this Writing: $165,979
    CarFax: Link
    Window Sticker: N/A
    Location: Marietta, GA
    Dealer Listing: Link

    Why we love it:

We’re massive fans of the Cayman GT4 here at Tailored Driver, so when a Paint to Sample’d VIN enters our radar it’s impossible to not take notice. With this Market Find, we have the realization of a spec that’s been kicked around our internal group chat for quite some time- Paint to Sample Irish Green, 6 speed manual transmission, Yellow deviated stitching, belts and door pulls, and because we’re not as young as we once were, 18-way power seats. If we had to split hairs on this Tailored Driver, we’d ditch the wheels in favor of something from Augment Wheel Company or a similar OEM+ source and add a 917-style shift knob, but that’d be our only adjustment. For our sake, please go buy this before we do.

  • Market Find: 2018 BMW Individual Nardo Grey M3 Competition

Market Find: 2018 BMW Individual Nardo Grey M3 Competition

    What: 2018 BMW M3 Competition
Color: BMW Individual Nardo Grey (nardograu; non-metallic UNI; P6K; LY7C/T3; Audi)
    VIN: WBS8M9C52J5J78816
    Mileage: 76,557
Price at Time of this Writing: $46,000
    CarFax: Link
    Window Sticker: Pictured below
    Location: Louisville, KY
    Dealer listing: Link

    Why we love it:

Nardo Grey had a moment in the early to mid 2010s, there’s simply no denying that. After appearing on several Audi RS models, the color quickly made it’s way to other brands with Tailoring programs like BMW (shown here) and Porsche, and shortly after spawned me-too colors like Porsche’s Chalk and BMW’s Brooklyn Grey. The staff of Tailored Driver loves a good cross-brand build, and this M3 is an incredibly well executed example. Aforementioned Nardo Grey (in BMW code P6K) is paired exquisitely with Amaro Brown extended leather, elevated by the appearance of BMW’s Competition pack seats with strategic cutouts. Sure you lose lumbar adjustment, but speed holes are just cool. We look forward to seeing additional images once this Tailored Driver is cleaned up, but at this price, it just might not last that long.

  • Market Find: 2013 BMW Individual Santorini Blue M3 Competition Package

Market Find: 2013 BMW Individual Santorini Blue M3 Competition Package

    What: 2013 BMW M3 Competition
Color: Individual Santorini Blue (santorinblauii; non-metallic uni; 327; BMW)
    VIN: WBSKG9C5XDJ594007
    Mileage: 18,164
Price at Time of this Writing: Auction
    CarFax: Link
    Window Sticker: Pictured below
    Location: Leander, TX
    Auction Listing: Link

    Why we love it:

On the Tailored Driver spectrum, there are simply so many variants of Blue that the best way to describe on is quite possibly to reference others. Case in point, BMW Individual Santorini Blue featured in this instance on an E92 M3, exists somewhere between BMW’s Laguna Seca Blue and Porsche’s Voodoo Blue. A bright, bold, non-metallic Blue that is far from shy in our opinion represents an incredibly fitting shade for an M3 competition package car, and this is only further bolstered by Santorini’s similarity to the light blue featured within BMW’s roundel branding. Moving inside, this Tailored Driver also features extended leather with deviated stitching in Tobago Blue, which provides an incredibly subtle tie to the bold blue exterior.

  • Market Find: Tizian Red Metallic Audi TT RS Heritage Edition

Market Find: Tizian Red Metallic Audi TT RS Heritage Edition

What: 2022 Audi TT RS Heritage Edition
Color: Tizian Red Metallic (tizianrotmetallic; metallic UNI; LB3V; Audi)
    VIN: WUAASAFV8N1900768
    Mileage: 2,568
Price at Time of this Writing: $84,901
    CarFax: N/A
    Window Sticker: N/A
    Location: Mini of Knoxville, TN
    Dealer listing: Link

    Why we love it:

Every once in a while, a limited or special edition model comes to market that shows just how much attention to detail a brand’s product planning department gets it. The MY2022 TT RS Heritage Edition was one of those cars. Audi built just 10 each of five different heritage colors, each with their own interior specification. In this case, it was Tizian Red Metallic of the ur quattro era and paired with Audi exclusive Havanna Brown leather and Jet Grey stitching.

The original press release materials linked above don’t really do the cars actual colors justice, so it’s always nice to see one in person. They don’t pop up on the market much, so when they do we take notice. This one’s got barely any mileage on it as well, so collectors should take note.

  • Market Find: 2014 Audi exclusive Teak Brown Metallic S4

Market Find: 2014 Audi exclusive Teak Brown Metallic S4

    What: 2014 Audi S4
Color: Audi exclusive Teak Brown Metallic (Teakbraun; metallic UNI; LZ8W; Audi)
    VIN: WAUBGAFL1EA027881
    Mileage: 113,361
Price at Time of this Writing: Available upon request
    AutoCheck: Link
    Window Sticker: N/A
    Location: Eau Claire, WI
    Dealer listing: Link

    Why we love it:

We’re always interested in a one-of-one, and this Audi exclusive Teak Brown Metallic S4 is just that. A claimed sixteen S4s were painted in this hue, but just one was paired with the uber-rare two-tone Chestnut Brown interior. Moving beyond the uniqueness of this S4, we start to see where the initial Tailor of this driver perhaps missed a box or two. The lighting quick S-tronic gearbox is a choice that, while we would’ve opted for the 3-pedal version, we can respect due to the practicality and ease of use provided. However the combination of MMI-low (base spec) with Bang and Olufsen (high spec) audio is a bit of a head scratcher. Omitting Audi’s torque vectoring sport differential? That’s nearly unforgivable. And the base wheels? We advise whoever is fortunate enough to pick this Tailored Driver up to immediately start cruising Facebook Marketplace for OEM ‘Peeler’ wheels.

  • Market Find: 2018 Porsche Paint to Sample Grey Black Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid

Market Find: 2018 Porsche Paint to Sample Grey Black Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid

    What: 2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid
Color: Paint to Sample Grey Black (schwarzgrau; non-metallic UNI; 7A1; Porsche)
    VIN: WP0AH2A72JL145349
    Mileage: 51,495
Price at Time of this Writing: $85,975
    CarFax: Link
    iPacket: Link
    Location: Newark, DE
    Dealer listing: Link

    Why we love it:

Chosen as the launch color for their instant classic 997.2 GT3 RS, Porsche’s Grey Black exists at the crossroads of dynamic and drab. Simple enough in theory, Grey Black is impossibly deep in the right lighting, trending much lighter or darker depending on conditions. We personally find this application exceptionally interesting on the range topping Turbo S E-Hybrid, due to it’s understated curb presence (minus the Acid Green painted brake calipers and E-Hybrid badging) while also packing a combined 680hp from its twin-turbo V8 gas and hybrid electric motors. Sub three second sprints to 60mph, a nearly eleven second flat quarter mile, and seating for four adults, this Tailored Driver is one hell of an all-rounder.

  • Market Find: 1978 RUF BTR in Oak Green Metallic

Market Find: 1978 RUF BTR in Oak Green Metallic

What: 1978 Porsche 911 Turbo RUF BTR
Color: Oak Green Metallic (oakgrünmetallic; metallic UNI; 265 / 22L / 60K; Porsche)
    VIN: 9308700670
    Mileage: 7,021
Price at Time of this Writing: $395,000
    CarFax: N/A
    Window Sticker: N/A
    Location: USA
    Dealer listing: Link

    Why we love it:

With 2024 being the anniversary of the 911 Turbo, the amount of forced induction elfers coming onto the market this year has been astounding. Now throw in Oak Green Metallic paint, the same color Dr. Ferry Porsche painted his personal 911 Turbo, and you already have a winner before we get to the fact that this is an early Turbo built by then fledgling RUF Automobile of Pfaffenhausen, Germany.

The Oak Green car you see here is a U.S. market 930 built to “Group B Turbo RUF” (BTR) specification. Equipment included this car included displacement punched out from 3.3-liters to 3.4-liters with twin-plug heads, a larger RUF intercooler, and a four-outlet exhaust system. Period RUF documentation estimates power from this and other modifications at 374-horsepower and 480 NM of torque.

Other modifications included RUF’s own 5-speed transmission (something Porsche wouldn’t give the 911 Turbo until 1989), Porsche 935-style Bilstein coilover suspension, 917-derived brakes, and 17-inch 5-spoke RUF wheels made by Speedline and similar to those also fitted on the famous Yellowbird.

The car has a great look, though is in original condition so features some wear as can be seen in these photos and even more, also explained in greater detail, via the link HERE.

  • Market Find: Jerry Seinfeld’s 2014 911 50th Anniversary Edition Turbo S Coupe on BaT

Market Find: Jerry Seinfeld’s 2014 911 50th Anniversary Edition Turbo S Coupe on BaT

What: 2014 Porsche 911 50th Anniversary Edition Turbo S Coupe
Color: Paint to Sample Graphite Grey (graphitgrau; non-metallic UNI; C2C2; Porsche)
    VIN: WP0AD2A9XES169049
    Mileage: 3,700 miles

    Window Sticker: $240,150
    Location: Santa Monica, CA
    Auction listing: Link

    Why we love it:
In 2014, Porsche celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the 911 with a special “50th Anniversary Edition” model that utilized the then-wider body of the 991. 1963 were built to this specification, most easily recognizable for their Fuchs style wheels, houndstooth seats, and only available in either darker Graphite Grey (graphitgrau; non-metallic UNI; C2C2; Porsche) or lighter Geyser Grey. And while all of those had the base 911 drivetrain, Porsche also specially built a Graphite Grey Turbo S 50th Anniversary Edition for none other than Jerry Seinfeld. That car is currently up for sale on Bring a Trailer.

In total, Seinfeld’s 911 50th Anniversary specification applied to this Turbo S added approximately $58,000 in options to the standard Turbo S. In addition to the aforementioned paint, this included things like Sport Plus front seats with houndstooth inserts, PDK gearbox, Sport Chrono Package, 20-inch Sport Classic alloy wheels, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCBs), an electronic limited-slip differential in the rear, LED headlights, ParkAsssist, Burmeister audio system, and automatic climate control.

Consistent with the 911 50th Anniversary Edition, it also got 50th Anniversary badging and clear taillights. Interestingly, the underside of the trunk is also signed by Tony Hatter, then Porsche Head of Design.

It is believed to be the only factory built 2014 911 50th Anniversary Turbo S. Combine that with the fame of the original owner of this single-owner 911 and you have a very special car for any serious Porsche collector.
