Believe it or not, Audi exclusive currently offers no less than 8 different matte effect color options– Florett and Dew Silver, Daytona and Nardo Grey, Ascari Blue, Sonoma and District Green, and the Glacier White you see here. Seeing as the prospect is perhaps more tempting than the reality, we can understand why these 8 are rarely come to our attention in market, so when one finally does it makes the listing all the more noteworthy. Frequent Tailored Driver fliers Audi San Diego have one such offering, this Glacier White Matte Effect Audi RS 7 sportback. Under the California sun Glacier dances with a subtle cyan glow, even if the clearcoat is opaque. We think it’s a sharp package, and can’t imagine it will last long.

“Probably the only one” says the description of this Tailored Driver, and if that is indeed the case, shame on the well-to-do of the late 80’s. Porsche’s Paint to Sample Turquoise is seldom seen, another shame which we can only chalk up to a lack of awareness. The color is vibrant and familiar yet completely underutilized- so much so that even Rennbow only has images of two factory-built examples. We’d be remiss to not also mention that exclusivity comes at a steep cost ($149,000 for a 3.2!), but as they say- go find another.

There’s a funny thing about the 2013 TT RS Final Edition. It was supposed to be Nimbus Grey, the same color that adorned the original Audi TTS concept and was a staple in the early years of the TT. As the folks at Audi prepared to sunset the Mk2 Audi TT RS, they planned a limited run of 30 cars in the same specification.

Said specification was intended as something that would speak to TT enthusiasts. In addition to Nimbus Grey paint, it got black leather with red leather accents, sport exhaust, titanium-finished 19-inch “rotor” design wheels, heated seats and Technology Package that included adaptive xenon headlights and 12-speaker BOSE audio. That was all well and good, but when the TT RS Final Editions started showing up, you couldn’t miss the obvious. They weren’t grey at all. In fact, they were green. In person, they look like Nimbus Grey if you tinted it with a green more on the cyan side of the green spectrum.

It’s funny, when you see these cars listed they are often listed consistently with their window stickers, like this example on Bring a Trailer listed as Nimbus Grey. Park it next to a real Nimbus Grey car though and the difference is immediately obvious.

Whether that makes these cars more or less desirable is of course in the eye of the beholder. Regardless, this one appears to be a well preserved example with decently low miles.

Glass half empty, the exclusivity of the 992-generation Porsche 911 Sport Classic means that very few people had the opportunity to order one. Glass half full, this rarity also contributed to a high take rate for paint to sample services. In the case of this ultra low mileage example, that paint to sample color is 356-era Oslo Blue.

Effectively the 911 Sport Classic was a 911 Turbo, though it was the only Turbo to be offered with a manual. Like the original 997-era Europe-only 911 Sport Classic, it also featured a duck tail rear spoiler and double bubble roof panel.

Interestingly, this owner skipped the Pepita houndstooth fabric reintroduced in the original Sport Classic and offered in this newer version, instead keeping things simple with black leather.

    • Ultra-low mileage, one owner 1977 Ferrari 512 BB ‘Wide Body’ set for auction
    • The unique commission benefits from a host of bespoke cosmetic and mechanical enhancements
    • Estimated at £150,000-£170,000, it will go under the hammer with H&H Classics on Wednesday 9th April

    [source: H&H Classcs Ltd]

A one-owner, exclusive commission 1977 Ferrari 512 BB ‘Wide Body’ with just 6,000 miles from new is going under the hammer with H&H Classics at its first Cambridgeshire auction of 2025.

Estimated at £150,000-£170,000, it is thought to be unique among the 101 UK-supplied right hand drive examples and will be auctioned on Wednesday 9th April at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford.

The eye-catching model has been uprated with wider wheels, various engine modifications and reshaped bodywork by supplying dealer Maranello Concessionaires. It has been maintained by Vince Mezzullo, a Maranello employee who bonded with the owner over their shared Sicilian ancestry, both during and after his time at the renowned dealership.

Finished in Rosso Chiaro with black hide and carpets, it has also benefitted from reworked front and rear aluminium clamshells plus reprofiled B-to-C-post sections and enlarged NACA cooling ducts.

John Markey, motorcar specialist at H&H Classics, said: “This Ferrari ‘Wide Body’ was commissioned by a serial Ferrari owner and while other Ferrari’s came and went, and not to mention other high-performance machines, this Prancing Horse always remained in his collection as a firm favourite.”

Now being offered for sale by his wife, this example is reputedly inspired by the factory sanctioned 512 BB Competizione cars which were campaigned by Charles Pozzi and NART at the 1978 Le Mans 24-hours.

John added: “This ‘Wide Body’ enjoys a host of bespoke cosmetic and mechanical enhancements and has been in ownership of the Morello family from new. It is a unique BB and has ultra-low mileage, making it worthy of close inspection.”

All lots will be available to view in person at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford from midday on Tuesday 8th and from 9am on Wednesday 9th April, while the sale then commences at 1pm. Anyone looking to bid on one of the lots can do so in person, online, by telephone or by leaving a commission bid.

One of the more fascinating and certainly the more storied in the Porsche 911 remastering game must certainly be Lanzante and their Porsche 911 TAG Turbos. After acquiring a bulk of former TAG Turbo F1 racing engines developed by Porsche for McLaren, the firm set about building a series of only eleven Porsche 911 Turbos fitted with them. In doing so, they created the ultimate tribute inspired by the one-off Porsche TAG Turbo test car built by Porsche’s own R&D department.

The engine in this particular 911 is a 1.5-liter V6, and specifically TTE P01 raced by Alain Prost at the 1986 German Grand Prix and the 1987 Hungarian and Japanese Grand Prix. Like the other Lanzante TAG Turbos, the car also gets carbon fiber bodywork, carbon ceramic brakes, coilover suspension and aluminum doors.

The car in question was commissioned in Mint Green over black leather and featuring a blue and green tartan in the seat centers. It also features 17-inch versions of the familiar RUF 5-spoke wheel from period.

Tailored Driver strives to be of the people and by the people. So while it’d be really easy to just post blank-check Porsche GT variants all day long, we’d rather dig in the proverbial crates for stuff you can actually attain. The latest example of that is this E36 316ti, finished in Santorini Blue and currently on offer for a scant €2,100. Is it rough? Depends on your definition, but we do spot some rust near the rear driver’s side wheel arch. Does it need some ‘help’? Yeah, save for an M3 front bumper, some wheels, and suspension. Will it be slow? If you have to ask… yes, painfully. But an iconic color at a budget price doesn’t come around every day.

Audi’s e-tron GT is divisive amongst enthusiasts for one simple reason- it happens to be powered by electricity. But move past what goes in the tank, and it’s an objectionably exciting experience with style for days. Adding a bit to that excitement is Audi exclusive Nimbus Grey, a hue that traces its way back to the original Audi TT. Flashy it is not, but perhaps it will lend some ‘cred to whoever pulls up in this Tailored Driver to the local Audi Club meet.

Arguably underappreciated in it’s day, BMW’s Laguna Seca Blue is a vivid pastel blue that has gained traction in the past decade to the point where it’s not just a frequent Tailored Driver flyer via BMW Individual, it also comes with it’s own surcharge when found on E46 M3s and later Z3 M coupes. Seen here on an M3 competition, Laguna remains quite handsome in our eyes, even if the pictures aren’t the greatest. For just under $48k, it seems like a solid deal for someone trying to get in the Tailored game, and has their heart set on an F80 M3.
