Market Find: 1978 RUF BTR in Oak Green Metallic

What: 1978 Porsche 911 Turbo RUF BTR

    VIN: 9308700670
    Mileage: 7,021
Price at Time of this Writing: $395,000

    Location: USA

    Why we love it:

With 2024 being the anniversary of the 911 Turbo, the amount of forced induction elfers coming onto the market this year has been astounding. Now throw in Oak Green Metallic paint, the same color Dr. Ferry Porsche painted his personal 911 Turbo, and you already have a winner before we get to the fact that this is an early Turbo built by then fledgling RUF Automobile of Pfaffenhausen, Germany.

The Oak Green car you see here is a U.S. market 930 built to “Group B Turbo RUF” (BTR) specification. Equipment included this car included displacement punched out from 3.3-liters to 3.4-liters with twin-plug heads, a larger RUF intercooler, and a four-outlet exhaust system. Period RUF documentation estimates power from this and other modifications at 374-horsepower and 480 NM of torque.

Other modifications included RUF’s own 5-speed transmission (something Porsche wouldn’t give the 911 Turbo until 1989), Porsche 935-style Bilstein coilover suspension, 917-derived brakes, and 17-inch 5-spoke RUF wheels made by Speedline and similar to those also fitted on the famous Yellowbird.

The car has a great look, though is in original condition so features some wear as can be seen in these photos and even more, also explained in greater detail, via the link HERE.

Market Find: Jerry Seinfeld’s 2014 911 50th Anniversary Edition Turbo S Coupe on BaT

    Window Sticker: $240,150
    Location: Santa Monica, CA
    Auction listing: Link

    Why we love it:
In 2014, Porsche celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the 911 with a special “50th Anniversary Edition” model that utilized the then-wider body of the 991. 1963 were built to this specification, most easily recognizable for their Fuchs style wheels, houndstooth seats, and only available in either darker Graphite Grey (graphitgrau; non-metallic UNI; C2C2; Porsche) or lighter Geyser Grey. And while all of those had the base 911 drivetrain, Porsche also specially built a Graphite Grey Turbo S 50th Anniversary Edition for none other than Jerry Seinfeld. That car is currently up for sale on Bring a Trailer.

In total, Seinfeld’s 911 50th Anniversary specification applied to this Turbo S added approximately $58,000 in options to the standard Turbo S. In addition to the aforementioned paint, this included things like Sport Plus front seats with houndstooth inserts, PDK gearbox, Sport Chrono Package, 20-inch Sport Classic alloy wheels, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCBs), an electronic limited-slip differential in the rear, LED headlights, ParkAsssist, Burmeister audio system, and automatic climate control.

Consistent with the 911 50th Anniversary Edition, it also got 50th Anniversary badging and clear taillights. Interestingly, the underside of the trunk is also signed by Tony Hatter, then Porsche Head of Design.

It is believed to be the only factory built 2014 911 50th Anniversary Turbo S. Combine that with the fame of the original owner of this single-owner 911 and you have a very special car for any serious Porsche collector.

    Location: Seaside, CA

    Why we love it:

When it comes to a proper four-season do it all car, Porsche’s Cayenne is a pretty unbeatable option. This particular Cayenne S has the added benefit of wearing Paint to Sample Dark Olive Metallic paint, an incredibly rare shade that’s equal parts black and green depending on the light, with a vibrant metallic shine that really pops. As an added bonus, this Tailored Driver also sports brown seat belts, deviated stitching and a Race-Tex steering wheel, which really get us excited. Criminally subtle in the shade and a true stunner in the sunshine, we love the spec.

Market Find: Euro Market 1995 BMW M3 GT on Cars & Bids

    What: 1995 BMW M3 GT
Color: British Racing Green (britischesrenngrün; non-metallic uni; 312 / 553; BMW Individual)
    VIN: WBSBF99040EA40109
    Mileage: 101,900

    CarFax: N/A
    Window Sticker: N/A
    Location: San Diego, CA
    Dealer listing: Link

    Why we love it:

For E36 aficionados, what you’re looking at here may be one of the ultimate models – the European market only BMW M3 GT built exclusively in British Racing Green during the 1995 model year. The car was actually a homologation special, built to qualify the M3 for use in the FIA GT race series. Built only in coupé form, the M3 GT was powered by BMW’s S50B30 inline six tuned to 295 hp and sent power to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual. Production was limited to 356 units.

Other special equipment includes aluminum doors, special finish on the wheels, motorsport badges in various places, larger lip spoiler, larger adjustable trunk spoiler, sport steering wheel, black Alcantara interior with Mexico Green leather seat centers and red flecked carbon fiber.

At the time of writing, this car is still well south of the six figures where the M3 GTs usually price in. This car does show wear, including chips and scratches on the exterior, with more wear on the inside. How that affects its results in comparison to the $105,738 average we’re seeing at time of writing on Classic.com remains to be seen.

Given this car is on Cars & Bids, it has the advantage that Doug Demuro had a chance to review this specific car. Watch it in the video embedded here in this story.

  • Market Find: Fluid Silver on Green Singer DLS in Private Sale by Broad Arrow

Market Find: Fluid Silver on Green Singer DLS in Private Sale by Broad Arrow

What: 1991 Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer DLS “Dynamics and Lightweight Study”
    Color: Fluid Silver
    VIN: WP0ZZZ96ZMS400118
    Mileage: 182
Price at Time of this Writing: Inquire
    CarFax: N/A
    Window Sticker: N/A
    Location: USA
    Dealer listing: Link

    Why we love it:

Say you’ve been wanting a Singer, have got the cash but not the time to wait your turn in the ever-lengthening cue. If that describes your particular plight, then you may want to head on over to Broad Arrow and hit up their Private Sales inventory where the “Mame Commission” has popped up for sale.

In a day of wild colored tailored specs being… well, not common, but also not rare, choosing a subtle neutral silver and then packing some unexpected color on the inside is a beautiful display of if-you-know-you-know taste that embraces the understated. That’s the mix on “Mame”, with an exterior of Fluid Silver (a $42,550 option) and an interior of Olive Green Suede. It’s just so good.

Singer only ever built 75 examples of the DLS and availability is typically zero. That the “Mame Commission” with just 182 miles on it is available, much less in a fantastic specification, should definitely be noted. To quote Ferris Bueller, “It’s so choice. If you have the means (we)’d highly suggest it.”

  • Market Find: 2021 BMW Individual Oxford Green Metallic M5

Market Find: 2021 BMW Individual Oxford Green Metallic M5

    What: 2021 BMW M5
Color: BMW Individual Oxford Green Metallic (430; BMW)
    VIN: WBS83CH04MCH08798

Price at Time of this Writing: $79,990

    Location: Denver, CO
    Dealer listing: Link

    Why we love it:

If you really want to make us swoon, order your Tailored Driver in some variant of Green, and get the small wheels. This particular M5 follows that ethos- BMW Individual Oxford Green, small wheels, and two-tone seats in Black with Brown(ish) centers. The color, featured on a number of late 90s/early 2000s BMW vehicles, is perhaps best known for it’s use on the E39 M5, which sets the benchmark in many ways for sport sedans to this day. For those who want a stealthy performer that’s sure to turn heads, look no further.

  • Market Find: 2021 Audi exclusive Sonoma Green Metallic RS 7

Market Find: 2021 Audi exclusive Sonoma Green Metallic RS 7

    What: 2021 Audi RS 7
Color: Audi exclusive Sonoma Green (LX6R; Audi)
    VIN: WUAPCBF23MN905175
    Mileage: 27,091
Price at Time of this Writing: $89,890
    CarFax: Link
    Window Sticker: N/A
    Location: Sterling, VA
    Dealer listing: Link

    Why we love it:

Sonoma Green came seemingly out of nowhere when it was introduced for the B9 generation RS 5, and it made a big impact amongst enthusiasts, but due to a number of factors, the big brother RS 7 never was offered in the dynamic shade of Green. Thankfully Audi exclusive and at least one discerning Tailor was able to right this wrong. In this application, Sonoma simply looks incredible while not being overly flashy or appearing out of place. If you’re in the market, we highly suggest picking this up.

  • Color Focus: BMW Zandvoort Blue – C6E

Color Focus: BMW Zandvoort Blue – C6E

    CODE:  C6E

    TYPE: Non-Metallic

    CONTENT ARCHIVE: BMW Zandvoort Blue

    SUMMARY:

Near as we can tell, Zandvoort Blue (zandvoortblau; non-metallic uni; C6E, BMW) was introduced with the launch of the G87-generation BMW M2 as a standard color. Similar to Yas Marina Blue in the F80 M3 era, Zandvoort Blue appears to be a color-coordinated stand-in for the blue amongst the three colors in the BMW M tricolore rhombus.

Traditionally in the M motorsport logo, that blue is a light blue based on the Bavarian blue from the blue checks in the flag of Bavaria. In Zandvoort Blue’s case, it’s a bit lighter and not altogether far from Porsche Gulf Blue. Whatever the case, and artistic license considered, Zandvoort is the latest take on the blue in that logo as one of several representative colors in the G87 M2 color palette.

Also worth noting is the significance of the name. Circuit Zandvoort is a race track with F1 pedigree in The Netherlands.

European Market Find: 1994 BMW Individual Violet Blue 318is Coupé in Switzerland

    Why we love it:

However special or deep the options list may have been for European market BMW buyers in the 1990s, cars remained expensive to own and operate. Seeing an exceedingly well appointed and appreciable specification with a small displacement engine wasn’t uncommon, which is how you end up with such a special build on what would otherwise be a more mundane BMW model.

Yes, this is a 318, which means just the 1.8-liter 4-cylinder. However, visually it’s full-on M-spec M3 with all of the proper body kit, wheels and more. Even better, it’s got BMW Individual Violet Blue paint and very tastefully coordinated sport cloth interior. On top of all that, it’s a manual.

Back then, it was BMW allowing you to have an M3 without the money or the pace of an M3. Today, that advantage remains the same, because if this were an M3 Coupé in like condition it would be anywhere from double, triple or possibly nearly quadruple the price!

For the collector, we’d suggest buying it and leaving it the way it is while enjoying the great chassis. And, if you got tired of the slow pace, you could probably swap a more potent M-spec engine into it and not lose any money. Either way, we’d count that as a win.

As with any of our European Market Finds, this car is older than 25 years, making it an easy import into the U.S.A. should you be so inclined. Notably, this car is in Switzerland, which is an interesting pocket in the European space. Switzerland hasn’t adopted the Euro, meaning you don’t often find Swiss cars in the typical European sales channels. They also tend to be well kept.

This one checks all the boxes- last year of the three-pedal GT3, Paint to Sample Auratium Green color, enough miles (over 22,000) to place added emphasis on the Driver portion of Tailored Driver, and tastefully modified to boot. Featuring full PPF coverage, HRE wheels, a Soul Performance exhaust upgrade and the incredibly cool 917-style wooden shift knob, it’s the kind of Tailored Driver you can just get in and enjoy.
