The RSR Project Unveils New $375,000 Handbill Custom 1985 911 Carrera RSR in Spectacular Gulf Blue Livery and Colorway

The RSR Project Specializes in Creating Restored, Reimagined Vintage Eighties Era Cars That Capture the Classic RSR Styling, Alongside Captivating Modern Performance to Create a Truly One-of-a-Kind Driver’s Car

    [source: The RSR Project]

BEDFORD HILLS, NY – For Porsche purists and collectors, The RSR Project presents a stunning new custom hand built 1985 RSR Carrera 911 in Gulf Blue (gulfblau; non-metallic / non-metallic UNI; 328; Porsche) and vibrant orange livery. Initially conceived in 1973 as a representation of the absolute apex of Stuttgart’s factory engineering prowess, the lightweight RSR cars epitomized the very best in performance with an emphasis in being the car to beat in global racing challenges on track and off, including legendary endurance and rally showcases such as the 24-Hours of Le Mans and La Carrera Panamericana. Literally translated as “RennSport Rennwagen” (i.e. Racing Sport Racing car), RSR cars became the pinnacle of high-performance, race-ready 911 Carrera cars.

Specializing in the restoration and custom modification of RSR 911 from a very specific period (1984 – 1989), The RSR Project expertly brings a glorious era of vintage race car back to life with one of a kind examples such as this new 1985 Carrera 911 RSR finished in the celebrated Gulf colors. Featuring stunningly appointed interiors adorned with stylish houndstooth patterning and available options for rare imported Scottish tartans, The RSR Project modifies each car for thrilling driving on today’s modern roads.

Historically known for exceptional engineering, lightweight, nimble handling, and brilliant, razor-sharp RSR badging across the lower side of every 911, each build from The RSR Project currently starts at $375,000.

While prime examples of RSR cars remain red hot at auction, The RSR Project focuses on delivering a true driver’s car to collectors and enthusiasts, the new custom 1985 Gulf Blue RSR build is the latest example of truly stunning craftsmanship by way of an endless obsession for detail. Featuring new, larger brakes to keep pace with the high-performance engine, The RSR Project’s newest custom is made as a driver’s car that instantly demands respect while feasting on the open road.

“The newest Gulf Blue RSR is very similar to the original custom car that I first built for myself. Each commission from The RSR Project is a real driver’s car manifested in a very special, unique way. While The RSR Project upgrades everything from the engine, shocks, brakes, and further reduces overall vehicle weight where possible, our goal is to create the perfect driver’s car for those that know and appreciate vintage Porsche,” comments The RSR Project Founder Richard Schickman. “Our new 1985 Gulf car represents a perfect intersection of restoration and modification in a vintage era 911 Carrera RSR that drives superbly by modern standards, while also retaining its original, grandly realized intent.”

Started in 2017 as a low-volume passion project by Richard from a deep admiration for early RSR cars, The RSR Project was born when he restored and modified a 1977 911 Carrera RSR for himself. Drawing on his experience as a teenager working in an auto body shop in New York, Richard stripped down an original 1977 3.2-liter and meticulously rebuilt and restored the car from the ground up. Realizing everything in that RSR down to his exact specifications, Richard integrated signature body paneling, a completely new, crisp and completely reimagined period-correct interior, rebuilt engine, and updated shocks and suspension.

Shortly after completing his personal car, enthusiasts and collectors started asking Richard to sell the car. And so, The RSR Project was born.

“While RSR cars remain must-have cars to own on the collectible side, they really aren’t that ideal for driving today. The RSR Project gives collectors the rare chance to experience one of the most sought after Carrera without any sacrifices,” Richard continues. “The RSR Project delivers simply incredible driving thrills, real fun, and a daily driving usage case for the vintage 911 Carrera RSR for enthusiasts that is almost impossible to to argue with when behind the wheel.”

Each RSR Project car starts by sourcing a 1984 – 1989 vintage Porsche with a galvanized body and no accident history or rust. Every aspect of the donor vehicle is then stripped down with the entire drivetrain, suspension, glass, and interior removed in preparation. Each RSR Project car then has all steel flares channeled into the original vintage body.

RSR Project clients have myriad options to consider while conceptualizing their very own high-performance vintage 911 Carrera commission, including adding a ducktail spoiler as well as other unique bodywork designs that reduce vehicle weight while honoring the RSR Porsches from the era they were inspired by. Each exterior body is also adorned with the Carrera badging gleaming across the sides of the custom RSR colorway in striking orange paint.

Each vehicle interior undergoes an all-new beautifully restrained, reimagining punctuated by premium seating, lightweight carpet, new-classic dashboard, RS door paneling, headliner, visors, and updated front and rear glass. For comfort and convenience, an upgraded air conditioning system with modern compressors and condensers was integrated inconspicuously into the dash of the new Gulf Blue which is available for all builds for an additional $10,000. Keeping in the spirit of the marque, minimalist interior seamlessly flows alongside updated mechanics that are completed in a period correct fashion, delivering a deliciously analogue on-road experience that flawlessly delivers a peerless expression of vintage design polished with modern ingenuity as well as performance.

The RSR Project custom engines are comprehensively rebuilt and detailed to factory-new condition with clients having the option of choosing between 3.2L, 3.4L or 3.5L engine formats. Additional engine appointments include stock, PMO or custom fuel injections. All gaskets and rubber on board each engine are fully replaced, making each customized 911 absolutely brand new inside and out. Each RSR Project car receives a fully rebuilt suspension with new shocks and bushings. Large 4-piston brakes are fitted to each corner of the Gulf Blue as an additional option at extra cost. Clients also select between 15×11 and 15×9 Braid wheels wearing sticky, versatile Michelin TB-15 tires when specing out their cars.

Prior to each vehicle delivery, every RSR Project car is thoroughly road tested and shaken-down to rigorous standards in order to ensure each and every build meets the highest expectations of quality and performance.

Commissions for a bespoke RSR Project Carrara 911 RSR build now start at $375,000 with vehicle delivery typically taking 12 to 15 months. As experts in classic Porsche restoration and modification, The RSR Project provides personalized advisory services to each client, ensuring the delivery of an absolutely remarkable vintage-inspired Porsche made for daily driving that precisely suits their exact preferences. To learn more about The RSR Project, please visit www.thersrproject.com.

Expedition Motor Company Returns to G-Wagen Roots with Sahara Beige Wolf

EMC’s All-New 1993 250GD Combines Classic Geländewagen Military-Grade Durability with the Elegance of a Modern Luxury SUV

    [source: Expedition Motor Compay]

FRENCHTOWN, NEW JERSEY – The first-ever Geländewagen prototypes were designed by Mercedes-Benz in the 1970’s with the intention of creating a rugged, capable, and user-friendly all-wheel-drive vehicle that could navigate any terrain for military purposes. In an effort to ensure that these vehicles would perform reliably in even the most dire of circumstances, the first G-Wagen prototypes were tested under extreme conditions in locations such as the Sahara Desert and Arctic Circle. In 1978, the developers of the G-Class performed extensive test drives with the prototypes in the imposing dunes of the Sahara Desert, forever linking the legendary sand-covered desertscape with the most iconic off-road utility vehicle ever designed. In homage to those inaugural G-Wagen prototypes and to showcase the versatility of this world-class, go-anywhere utility vehicle, Expedition Motor Company is proud to reveal the brand-new Sahara Wolf, built off of a 1993 250GD originally used in the military.

“For this Sahara Wolf, we went back to the roots of the Geländewagen and the extensive testing those prototype vehicles underwent in the dunes of the Sahara Desert, in particular,” comments Alex Levin, Founder of Expedition Motor Company. “In addition to that same reliability and off-road prowess inherent in the original prototype vehicles, EMC has also implemented an array of in-house developed components to modernize the ride quality and overall driving experience.”

EMC’s reimagined Sahara Beige (saharabeige; 255; non-metallic; Mercedes-Benz) 1993 250GD Sahara Wolf retains the stout OM602 2.5L 5-cylinder diesel engine paired with a completely rebuilt 711.117 5-speed manual transmission. Each EMC Wolf undergoes a meticulous 100-point restoration process to ensure dependable and consistent performance from every part on their builds. From applying anti-corrosive treatments to incorporating a proprietary suspension system, no detail is too small to ensure this EMC Wolf will be enjoyed for decades to come.

Designed as a convertible with a soft top included at purchase, EMC’s Sahara Wolf can thrive in any weather conditions. Built with versatility in mind, this completely rebuilt 250GD feels equally at home cruising in a sunny beach town or tackling inclement weather. Other noteworthy exterior additions include a custom-built EMC Bullbar, 3-inch LED Pod Lights for enhanced visibility off-road, a Warn Winch, and an EMC Snorkel Kit.

On the interior, EMC expertly paired an elephant gray colorway to perfectly contrast the Sahara Wolf’s sand-like exterior. The New Jersey based G-Wagen specialists further modernized this 90s-era utility truck with a Harman Kardon Infinity sound system, sound proofing, Wireless Apple CarPlay and a full array of creature comforts including air conditioning, heat, as well as front and rear heated seats. Priced at $180,450 and available immediately for interested customers, the Sahara Wolf is EMC’s latest example of masterful craftsmanship paired with an inherent understanding of automotive design.

“There is no other vehicle on the planet that pairs military-grade performance with luxury as well as the G-Wagen does. After years of military service, we obtained this 1993 250GD and repurposed it into a luxurious custom-built SUV following more than 2,300 hours of restoration work,” continues Levin. “We own the largest collection of G-Wagens in the world today, and I consider EMC to be the leading authority in G-Wagen restoration. EMC is able to customize these vehicles to meet customer preferences while maintaining the utmost standards for build quality.”

  • ICON Announces “Old School” Line of Classic Broncos

ICON Announces “Old School” Line of Classic Broncos

    [source: ICON]

CHATSWORTH, CA – ICON 4×4 adrenalized the classic Ford Bronco market when it unveiled the stunning BR, a totally bespoke version of the classic American SUV. This award-winning vehicle – named GQ magazine’s 2011 Car of the Year – combined classic styling with modern technology, manufacturing, and materials.

ICON created the BR by reviving the vintage Bronco body to better-than-new condition. All plastic or pot-metal trim pieces are re-cast in CNC’d stainless steel, billet aluminum, pewter, or other exotic metals. Exterior details include the customer’s choice of tinted architectural glass in a variety of colors and body finishes ranging from trendy eggshell or matte paint to industrial powdercoat. The rest of the vehicle is all-new, using current-tech mechanical components, electronics, and manufacturing processes. More than 60 ICON BRs have been created to date.

To celebrate the company’s tenth anniversary in 2018, ICON Founder/Lead Designer Jonathan Ward decided to launch a new breed of builds: the Old School Series. These vehicles are characterized by restored stock bodies with traditional gloss paint. The factory bumpers are also retained. All other components follow the established ICON BR ethos: combining modern technology with classic design.

“The idea here was to go far more retro,” explains Jonathan Ward. “We’ve actually had some clients who love their ICONs but aren’t prepared for the attention they receive. They can’t stop for gas without having lengthy conversations. Ten years ago, we had to create a different aesthetic when we launched the brand with the BR Bronco and FJ Land Cruiser. Now we can afford ourselves the luxury to do something much more stock. I’ve been wanting to evolve in this direction anyway.”

The foundation of all ICON BR Broncos is a custom Art Morrison chassis made from rigid .180-inch-wall steel. It is engineered for a modern adjustable suspension: 12-inch-travel Fox Racing coilovers at each corner. Custom Dynatrac Dana-based axles provide geartrain reliability for the 33-inch-tall BFGoodrich tires.

Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes, which are optimized with a Wilwood master cylinder and a Hydratech hydro-boost system. ICON co-engineered the rotors and calipers with Brembo, resulting in 6-piston front calipers and 4-piston rears. To clear the big brakes, ICON designed custom 18×8 billet aluminum 4-slot wheels with Circle Racing. ICON paints them for a factory-steel vibe and machines the centers to accept reproduction original hubcaps. The wheels’ alloy material drastically reduces unsprung weight compared to the original Ford steel rims.

Unlike the vast majority of 1966-1977 Broncos, power steering is standard on all ICON builds. Premium PSC pumps and gearboxes help turn the tires with minimal driver effort.

ICON BR Broncos are powered by 426-hp Ford 5.0L Coyote crate engines from the Mustang GT. A stainless-steel Borla exhaust system provides long-lasting performance. Customers can choose between two durable transmissions: the Aisin AX15 5-speed manual or Ford 4R75W 4-speed AOD model.  Four-wheel-drive gear reduction is achieved by the legendary Advance Adapters Atlas II transfer case, available in a choice of six low-range gearing options pending the customer’s intended usage.

The Old School Bronco’s overall appearance distinguishes it from the no-holds-barred “new school” ICON BRs. Jonathan Ward began by studying the Sport, Explorer, and Ranger trim levels offered by Ford during the vehicle’s 1966-1977 run. Then he cherry-picked the best aspects of each and blended them together. Most prominent are the exterior trim pieces and brightwork such as the rain gutters and window surrounds – all custom but inspired by factory designs. The ICON side badges are executed in a script that mimics the classic Bronco font. Further, licensed reproduction OE grilles and bumpers add to the period-correct look.

A factory rear spare-tire carrier furthers the retro persona. One of the few exterior “tells” other than the ICON side badges is the spare-tire carrier’s upgraded stainless-steel cam-action release lever and locking stop at 90 degrees. Additionally, all lighting looks factory but is actually modern LED technology behind stock-appearing lenses.

Gloss paint is primary part of ICON’s Old School aesthetic. The customer can choose the color (Jonathan Ward will respectfully steer clients toward the period 1960s-1970s palettes). However, matte and eggshell finishes are disallowed. The Old School BR shown here has both a factory hardtop and a custom full-length bikini top.

Inside, the ICON Old School BR displays the company’s no-plastic edict while retaining the original personality. The dashboard appears stock but is actually a completely new ICON design, incorporating a stock reproduction glovebox door. Further, all knobs and controls keep their vintage appearance but are custom-machined from billet aluminum or stainless steel. Even the vents for the Vintage Air HVAC system are made from aircraft aluminum and combine polished bezels with black-anodized fins. Custom Dakota Digital gauges have period-inspired analog faces but interface with the fuel-injected engine’s ECU.

Comfort, convenience, and safety are improved by an Ididit tilt steering column with modern collapsibility in case of accidents. ICON adapts the column to reproduction first-generation Mustang steering wheels, which were available from the factory in a variety of colors. ICON customizes the horn rings with the company’s lizard logo in spun pewter.

Electronically, ICON includes a Kenwood Bluetooth/CarPlay-enabled head unit with GPS navigation system in the custom security console. The sound system consists of a premium Arc Audio amplifier and Focal speakers. Also, ICON offers power windows that are actuated by custom, factory-influenced manual cranks.

Excellence in interior design/upholstery execution is one of ICON’s main claims to fame. Traditional automotive fabrics are bland and degrade much faster than textiles developed for other industries. For the Old School Bronco line, Jonathan Ward works with customers to create a bespoke interior that retains the period feel but is executed with fabrics from the marine, aerospace, and even outdoor-furniture markets. Because 4x4s – especially open-air ones – get dirtier than passenger cars, Jonathan Ward prefers leather-look aircraft-rated vinyl material for the Old School BRs. This can be combined with other durable materials to create one-of-a-kind custom interiors that complement the exterior while retaining the Bronco’s original personality.

For durability and noise-reduction, ICON preps the tub’s interior and underbelly with spray-on, heat-treated polyuria material. Then, copious amounts of Dynamat sound-deadener material are added to the body cavities.

For ICON customers, one of the main advantages of the Old School BR is much shorter leads times compared to the existing BRs – as little as six months, pending scope of the interior design. For more information, please visit www.icon4x4.com or call (818) 280-3333.

In 1996, Jonathan and Jamie Ward founded TLC to provide service, parts, and restoration for the classic Toyota 4×4 community. As their global reputation grew, Jonathan began to work as a consultant for Toyota. ICON 4×4 evolved through developing projects ranging from outfitting event-specific vehicles to being asked by Mr. Toyoda to build three running and driving prototypes, which ultimately became the 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser. Extensive Engineering, Test & Development:The TWR Supercat has been engineered by a team led by Fergus Walkinshaw, son of TWR founder, Tom Walkinshaw. He has gathered a group of technical and operational talent from the most celebrated names in motorsport and performance car development. This includes: McLaren, Ferrari, Porsche, Williams, Mercedes F1 and Renault F1.The design, engineering and development programme of the Supercat series sets the standard for all future TWR products and production runs. The development of this project started more than two years ago and has taken hundreds of thousands of collective hours to get to its current production-ready state. This includes a full test and development programme that has taken place across specialist proving-ground facilities utilised by the world’s leading performance car brands, F1 teams and performance specialists. This includes full aerodynamic and CFD testing and durability and dynamic testing that replicates highly dynamic driving scenarios on both the road and the track.

Bold and contemporary design:Like the engineering talent that has led the realisation of the Supercat project, TWR has invested significantly in world-class design talent. Khyzyl Saleem worked as Design Lead. His approach, is shaped by his standing among the world’s leading digital and 3D car concepting stylists and through many performance-focused OEM projects, including with the late Ken Block and Travis Pastrana.“This project is an incredible opportunity to interpret TWR’s winning legacy in today’s design language. In so many ways, my career in the digital and physical realms have been leading to this moment. In merging the requirements of Super-GT form and racing functionality we have created a unique identity that is instantly recognisable from its silhouette. I am proud of the work we have done to bring inspirations from TWR’s performance and racing car history into this extraordinary new design. I cannot wait to work with our clients in shaping their own personal styling requirements for this incredible modern interpretation of a car that deserves its place among the most celebrated examples of British automotive design.”

Khyzyl Saleem, Vehicle Designer, TWRMagnus Walker, designer, car collector and one of the leading figures in the contemporary automotive world also consulted on the Supercat project. His experience as a collector, restorer and modifier of iconic sportscars was essential in delivering Walkinshaw’s vision to create a car built from the foundations of a Jaguar XJS while delivering distinctive aesthetics and substance befitting a contemporary TWR car.“Fergus and his incredible team are adding to TWR’s legacy by rewriting the rules of contemporary performance GT design. Like every collector and enthusiast, I love the Jaguar XJS as an iconic expression of a British GT. TWR’s uncompromising approach to delivering pure performance and driver involvement takes this to another level. I couldn’t be more proud to have contributed to this landmark statement of TWR’s bold future.”

Magnus Walker, Design Consultant, TWR SupercatThe result clothes the Jaguar XJS’ iconic profile, silhouette, flying buttresses and front graphic in an altogether more muscular styling. The result speaks of TWR’s clear vision to deliver a dynamic Super-GT that is equally at home on the track as on the road. Subtle nods to TWR’s long-standing Jaguar heritage combine to create a more aggressive overall aesthetic through reference to iconic cars like the Jaguar XJ220, XJR-9 and XJR-15.A fundamentally re-imagined interior will be unveiled when the car makes its dynamic debut in the summer of 2024.

An involving and characterful TWR Super-GT from the ground up:While the Supercat retains the unmistakable stance and silhouette of the Jaguar XJS, every exterior panel has been re-sculpted in Carbon Fibre. This material selection reflects the utilisation of motorsport engineering principles that will characterise this and all future TWR products. The development of the body alone took tens of thousands of hours. This has delivered a significant weight saving, drag improvements and significant rigidity benefits over traditional panel materials. Delivering the mechanical dynamic advantage is fundamental to TWR’s promise to deliver a truly involving and analogue Super-GT experience for both road and track.

TWR: A motorsport and performance legend regenerated:The new car is the first offering from the modern TWR, founded by Fergus Walkinshaw and business partner John Kane to build upon the legacy left by Fergus’s father, legendary constructor and racer Tom Walkinshaw who built the original TWR into a global motorsport and performance engineering powerhouse during the 1980-90s.The Supercat is the first TWR product for the 21st century, and as such is a rolling showcase for what the company can do, fusing modern engineering and production techniques with a classic base to create something truly unique, truly sporting, and truly TWR. Work on the project began almost three years ago at TWR’s Newbury base which will serve as the production home for this and future TWR projects.

The Supercat is due to make its first public appearances this summer, with a program of appearances at high-profile events to be announced shortly.

    About TWR
Established in 2020 by Tom Walkinshaw’s son, Fergus Walkinshaw, alongside his business partner John Kane, TWR aims to stretch the famous name into the modern automotive world. While a separate entity to the original Tom Walkinshaw Racing, the new company will share much of the DNA and spirit that helped the original TWR brand to become a world leader in performance and motorsport engineering.

From its base in Newbury, Berkshire, TWR will make its name as a constructor of bespoke automobiles for a whole new generation, seeking to protect and perfect the analogue driving experience with its own products, whilst also working with class-leading manufacturers to help maximise the potential of their own offerings.

    About Magnus Walker
Magnus Walker is one of the best known petrolheads in the world. His distinctive style, and seemingly endless creativity has garnered him global respect. Above all else, though, is his passion. When Magnus Walker sets his mind to making something, you know it’ll be something truly special.

Walker moved to the US from Sheffield in 1986, swiftly pouring his talent into his clothing line, Serious, which outfitted everyone from Alice Cooper to Madonna. The popularity of his designs allowed him to indulge another passion: real estate. After several timely building acquisitions in LA’s Downtown led him into the commercial film business, he also started amassing an enviable collection of Porsches. In 2012 the Urban Outlaw film made its debut. Telling the story of Walker and his race-inspired road-going Porsche builds, it made him an overnight star in the automotive world.

His collection has since evolved – where once it was mostly made up of a single marque, today it features vehicles from brands located all over the world.

Known for his distinctive dreadlocks and epic beard, Magnus Walker’s style has been wrought from decades working in several of the most creative industries on the planet, which is why we approached him to work with us on bringing the next generation of TWR to life.

He is familiar with TWR’s stellar past, and knows the legacy the next generation has to live up to. Our collaboration will mark the first time Walker has worked in an official capacity with a vehicle manufacturer.

An iconic marque, an iconic man… a combination that can only lead to great things.

    About Khyzyl Saleem
If you’ve been anywhere near the internet, you’ll know Khyzyl Saleem’s work. A petrolhead from a young age, he got into photoshop, and then 3D modelling, which resulted in global acclaim for his myriad creations. His work took him to the world of video games, where he worked for Electronic Arts on various titles. In his free time, Khyzyl created his own takes on supercars, modified icons, and did whatever took his fancy in the virtual world. As a result of his tinkering, his Instagram account became a shop window for what happens when a truly brilliant mind is given the space to create anything they want, and it blew up. Soon enough everything he created became newsworthy.

At the same time, Khyzyl set up LTO – Live To Offend. There was demand for Khyzyl’s work to make the leap from the virtual world to reality, and he was more than willing to make that happen, and so LTO was formed to create body kits for some of the world’s most iconic cars.

You’ll likely have seen LTO’s work at events all over the globe, notably Las Vegas’ SEMA show where Khyzyl’s creations draw huge crowds. Such is the impact of his work, that Khyzyl’s been called upon by the likes of the late Ken Block, Travis Pastrana, and more to give their cars a little something that others simply don’t have.

Though he’s been responsible for plenty of bodykits and renders over the years, before working with TWR Khyzyl hadn’t turned his skill to a whole car. This will be his first full-on design – every detail has come about as a result of his seemingly limitless creativity, of course with input from Walker.

With Walker and Khyzyl on board, it’s clear to see that TWR is taking the next generation seriously: working with two of the greatest minds of the modern automotive era.

Scott Gilbert founded Blackbridge Motors with the core belief that the thrill of owning and driving an iconic Land Rover Defender shouldn’t come with compromises to comfort or handling. Drawing from years of professional expertise in repairing and restoring Defenders, Gilbert crafted standardized parts and solutions that can easily be switched out and modified depending on a client’s needs and preferences.

“A standout feature of our platforms and standardized process is the remarkable degree of flexibility and customization it affords our clients when tailoring a build to precisely meet their needs,” comments Blackbridge Motors Founder & CEO Scott Gilbert. “The most common question we get from potential clients is what makes us different from the plethora of other Land Rover outfits currently on the market. What I always tell them is that while anyone can throw a bigger engine in a Defender and call it a day, what really matters is everything around the engine bay that affects the drivability, safety, reliability, and overall on-road handling experience, and that’s something we’ve refined to the point of excellence.”

The daily drivability and formidability of each truck, both on and off-road, is among the most pivotal aspects of any Blackbridge build. The newest Blackbridge Motors Mark IV Defender features a GM Performance 6.2L V8 LS3 425-hp engine outfitted with a Blackbridge-designed, aerospace-grade body harness that is affixed to the GM Performance OEM engine and transmission harnesses. To ensure seamless performance and synergy between components, Blackbridge employed an almost complete suite of driveline parts from General Motors such as a GM performance 6-speed automatic transmission, GM transfer case, GM gear select lever, GM performance engine accessory kit, and GM Performance OEM engine control module.

The General Motors engine system also ensures that clients can conveniently service their Blackbridge Motors Defender at any GM facility or dealer nearby. Optional engine and drivetrain appointments for prospective clients include a 6.2L V8 GM LT1 and an 8-speed automatic transmission with 450-hp or a 6-speed manual transmission.

The new Blackbridge Motors 110 Defender Mark IV includes heavy-duty Dana HD front and rear axles with 4.88 gearing and a special hydroboost four-wheel Wilwood Master braking system. The original Land Rover Defender chassis has been replaced with a modified 2018 Jeep Wrangler 116-inch chassis which extends the wheelbase and interior space by 6 inches. The new Jeep JK chassis affords clients numerous options when selecting wheels as opposed to the relatively limited choices available for the original Defender OEM platform. 16-inch steel “WOLF” style wheels and BFGoodrich K02 A/T tires were chosen by the client for this new Mark IV. Fox custom valved shocks were added for improved off-road capability and on-road cabin stability along with a custom-engineered heavy-duty steering linkage box and heavy-duty control arms. For extended range and fuel efficiency, a 22.5-gallon fuel tank and a Blackbridge OEM GM returnless, high-flow fuel pump system were also added.

The base of the interior cabin is lined throughout with custom flooring from Chilewich, with all wiring for the HiFi Audio System and climate control systems running through the sides of the vehicle instead of the floor; making all floor space completely usable without worry of damaging the interior vehicle systems. The interior is comprehensively and harmoniously adorned with an off-white weather treated leather in Hellgrau (light gray) by Hydes which is upholstered throughout the cabin seating, door cards, and center console. Blackbridge utilizes this treated leather for many of their coastal clients as it maintains an unparalleled resistance to moisture.

The custom-designed dashboard is meant to symbolize the simplicity and analog style of original Defender interiors with exception to the subtly integrated modern amenities. The HiFi Audio System is accompanied by a 9-inch touch screen display with electric heating and cooling capabilities, CNC machined vents and controls located alongside as well as custom analog-style dash gauges. Two successive rows of captain’s chairs are spaciously separated by the Blackbridge-designed center consoles all furnished in the moisture-resistant leather. The entire cabin is accented with modestly integrated LED lighting for style and visibility at night. The cargo space in the Mark IV remains unencumbered, designed for practical utility such as loading beach or outdoor gear, distinguishing it from Blackbridge’s alternative jump seating options. The cargo area is accessible via a dropdown-style tailgate with a secure storage locker.

The Blackbridge designed tub is produced as a single piece, which makes for increased rigidity and simplifies the assembly process. Lighting upgrades include LED running lights, brake lights, turn signals, and Blackbridge x Vision X 7-inch round DOT LED headlights in the OEM grill. For increased in-vehicle visibility, Blackbridge Motors installed a Standard Width Body Canvas Soft Top with Strataglass Windows, presenting incredible outdoor visibility and elemental protection. Custom upholstered canvas soft tops are available for every build starting at $12,000.

When speaking on Blackbridge’s competitive price point, Gilbert explains, “We’ve cultivated a distinct advantage over our competitors by tailoring our systems to accommodate a diverse range of client needs. This approach not only optimizes efficiency but also significantly reduces costs and time associated with repair and maintenance, thanks to our proprietary Blackbridge parts seamlessly integrated with the General Motors drivetrain package. Gilbert continues, “Collectively, these factors empower us to offer our products at a price point considerably lower than that of our counterparts, without compromising on quality. In fact, our value proposition is further enhanced when considered for ease of use and maintenance.”

Pricing for the custom Blackbridge Motors Defender 110 Mark IV starts at $169,950. For more information on Blackbridge Motors and available vehicles, please visit www.blackbridgemotors.com or call (203) 817-0014.

EMC Bridges Tradition and Modernization with Latest Offering: an ABS Hardtop Offering More Flexibility in Any Conditions

FRENCHTOWN, NJ – The Geländewagen (G-Wagen) has earned its reputation as an emblematic symbol of luxury SUVs, with roots tracing back to its military heritage in the 1970s. Initially designed for rugged military use, the G-Wagen’s exceptional durability and off-road capabilities quickly captured the attention of a wider audience, leading to its global popularity as a luxurious consumer vehicle. Since then, the G-Wagen has withstood the test of time, with many original models still in use today. Expedition Motor Company (EMC) is largely responsible for that trend courtesy of their team’s intensive restoration process, effortlessly bridging the G-Wagen’s heritage with the best modern components available.

Amongst EMC’s proudest and latest creations is a resplendent 1990 Mercedes Benz 250GD Wolf, boasting a captivating light blue exterior. This eye-catching color option is popular amongst luxury SUV enthusiasts, and EMC offered this colorway as a distinctive way for the client to personalize their G-Wagen. This Wolf also comes with a new offering that will be made available for future EMC builds, an ABS Hardtop.

“The G-Wagen’s design has remained largely unchanged for decades, making it one of the few vehicles with such a long production run featuring minimal design alterations,” comments EMC Founder Alex Levin. “In our pursuit of providing a diverse array of customization options, we continuously push the boundaries to meet evolving consumer demands. The introduction of the new ABS Hardtop is a perfect example, offering versatility to our clients across the globe. Rain or shine, no matter where you live, this vehicle can be enjoyed.”

The exterior of this stunning G-Wagen showcases a China Blue (chinablau; non-metallic UNI; 934; Mercedes-Benz) paint hue that effortlessly catches the eye in any setting. Inside, the vehicle is finished with a lavish mushroom weather-proof interior, perfectly complimenting the vehicle’s overall appearance. The inclusion of the ABS Hardtop enhances the vehicle’s adaptability to varying weather conditions and individual preferences. During the chilly winter months in colder climates, the hardtop provides enhanced insulation and protection from the cold. However, as the weather warms, the removable top allows for indulging in the delights of open-air driving, embracing the epitome of a convertible driving experience.

As with every EMC build, meticulous attention is given to every detail throughout the 100-point restoration process. To start, the vehicle begins with a complete disassembly and media blasting down to the frame, ensuring a clean slate for restoration. Protective measures are then implemented, including the application of an anti-corrosive primer followed by a durable powder coat finish. Essential components such as fuel and brake lines, along with body mounts, are carefully replaced to ensure optimal performance and longevity. The process extends to the factory axles, which undergo disassembly, cleaning, and a refinishing process. The brake system receives a comprehensive overhaul, strengthened with upgraded rotors and drums to enhance stopping power and reliability. Finally, EMC’s internally developed suspension is expertly fitted and customized to seamlessly integrate into the vehicle, ensuring an unparalleled driving experience.

Underneath the hood lies the heart of this Wolf, a rebuilt OM602 2.5L inline-five diesel engine, better known as Mercedes’ million-mile engine. Complementing this power plant is a 5-speed automatic transmission for those who would prefer 2 pedals.

Expedition Motor Company trucks start at $165,000 and are available to commission today. For more information, please contact Expedition Motor Company at (267) 714-4112, or visit expeditionmotorcompany.com.

  • Kimera EVO38, the Latest Evolution of the Myth with All-Wheel Drive

Kimera EVO38, the Latest Evolution of the Myth with All-Wheel Drive

Cuneo, 22 February 2024 – Universal heir. It defines the person who receives and takes upon himself the entire patrimony of a family, becoming the last and most contemporary representative of the dynasty.

If the lineage of the most iconic sports and racing cars built in Turin from 1978 to 1992 – which dominated roads, racetracks around the world – had not been interrupted, and its natural progeny had evolved to the present day, today that lineage would have an heir, the latest evolution of its species. This is the spirit in which Kimera Automobili has created the EVO38, a car created to celebrate and collect the cultural witness of a time when Italy was great in the world, and to remind everyone where some of the most important masterpieces that have made automotive history were born: in Italy, in Piedmont, in Turin.

Following the success of the EVO37, the car with which the brand made its debut on the automotive scene, Kimera presents the EVO38, the further and ultimate evolution of a concept of cars conceived for racing and then transferred to the roads: pure, analogical, physical and mechanical cars, forged by creative flair, craftsmanship, practical manual skills and irreplaceably human sensibilities.

The Kimera EVO38 cannot really be defined as a restomod car. Rather, it is a further extreme of this philosophy, a ‘few-off’ (it will be produced in a limited edition of 38 units) that was born ultra-sporty and which, from its noble progenitors, acquires the strong inspiration that permeates its DNA, shaping itself in their image and likeness, both stylistically and technically.

Unlike the EVO37, the EVO38 is integrale (the Italian term for all-wheel drive). Differently from some of the noble progenitors mentioned above, the four-wheel-drive is realized through a modern and sophisticated system of repartition control and electro-hydraulic differential lock. This system – just like the more sophisticated World Rally Cars of the early 2000s – allows the differentials to be calibrated directly from the cockpit, offering the driver the possibility of managing the percentage of traction split between the front and rear wheels, as well as the possibility of managing the differential lock. This solution also allows the front differential to be completely excluded to have, in effect, a rear-wheel drive car.

And also from inside the cockpit, and in particular via controls on the steering wheel, there will be the possibility of adjusting the suspension settings via motorized shock absorbers and a lifting system to adapt the car’s ground clearance to conditions other than normal road driving: track, rough tracks, ‘white roads’.

The rear chassis layout retains the central shock absorber with the double side spring, typical of the B-groups of the 1980s, while at the front there will be a modern push-road shock absorber layout.

The gearbox is still a 6-speed manual, but with an even shorter gear ratio than on the EVO37, confirming the car’s connotation that it finds its ideal territory of use on driven mixed roads rather than fast circuits. On the EVO38, Kimera is also working to offer an electro-actuated sequential gearbox version with front shifts, a solution that will make the car a true ‘race’ weapon, but one that can be unleashed on everyday roads.

Despite the presence of all-wheel drive, Kimera Automobili aims to maintain the same low weight as the EVO37, stopping the needle of the weighing scale at around 1,100 kg for the EVO38 as well. Despite the presence of all-wheel drive, Kimera Automobili aims to maintain the same low weight as the EVO37, stopping the needle of the weighing scale at around 1,100 kg for the EVO38 as well. To achieve this, the additional mass due to the transmission also on the front wheels will be compensated for through the massive use of carbon fiber and titanium, which will ensure significant lightening on the chassis, mechanics, systems and bodywork.

On the other hand, the engine’s power has increased, touching the 600 horsepower threshold thanks to the re-engineering of numerous components: the turbocharger will be larger and will always work in combination with the volumetric compressor with a further evolved and improved management; the electro-actuated clutch, also thanks to the aid of an electric pop- off valve, will guarantee a performance that is always prompt and full, realizing a true anti-lag. The ignition timing will vary considerably with new cams, valves and springs that have evolved to allow an increase in maximum engine speed. Variable valve timing will guarantee not only more power, but also a substantial increase in torque (around 580 Nm) available already from low revs. A further detail is the possibility of equipping the turbo with a direct exhaust, which is also an extremely scenic solution.

The styling of the EVO38 becomes definitely more contemporary and provides a characterful presence, with more decisive and defined lines and a technical package of extraordinary excellence, well representing the cultural continuity and know-how of which Kimera Automobili is an ambassador, further consolidating a beautiful Italian entrepreneurial fairytale, which seems to recall adventures of bygone times, but which in reality our country is still capable of stimulating.

In an automotive scenario increasingly oriented towards a paradigm shift, Kimera Automobili affirms and consecrates the true and pure passion for a way of conceiving cars as works of art and expressions of style and technique aimed at driving pleasure, stimulating emotions, fun and gratification.

The brand has quickly acquired a distinctive identity and, thanks to the production and delivery of iconic cars, continues to attract international customers with refined and sophisticated preferences, while at the same time being very aware of the values that the brand interprets and declines through each of its unique creations.

The EVO38 will be shown to the public for the first time at the upcoming Geneva International Motor Show, where Kimera Automobili will set up a truly unique stand. The new car will be welcomed in the center of a setting that will host the legendary cars that inspired it and to which the EVO38 pays homage, making its debut even more special.
