Color Check: Bentley Continental GTC Speed First Edition in Bronze

As part of the Global Media Drive for the new Continental GT Speed in Andermatt Switzerland, Bentley has released photos of each car on location for the drive. This includes full build specifications. Over the last few days we’ve been color checking all of them, and our final specification is this tasteful brown droptop.

Technically, the Mulliner hue is known simply as Bronze. Whether bronze (little B) or brown we really don’t care. It’s attractive, and that is especially so when paired with granite painted exterior brightware and machined 22-inch ten swept spoke wheels.

The specification gets even better on the inside where the monotone cabin is Cumbrian Green leather with Camel accents, dark tint Engine Turned Aluminum fascias and contrast stitching throughout.

Worth noting, the car also has several options that we’ll list here along with U.S. pricing. These include First Edition Specification ($41,190), Carbon Ceramic Brakes with Painted Calipers ($18,820), Extended Range Solid and Metallic Paint ($8,655), 22-inch Ten Swept Spoke Wheels ($4,000) and Contrast Stitching ($3,930).

First Edition Specification includes Touring Specification, Front Seat Comfort Specification, Front Wellness Seating including postural and lumbar adjustment, Naim Audio, Bentley Rotating Display, Technical Veneer Choice or Single Finish Veneer, Animated LED Welcome Lamps by Mulliner, Mood Lighting Specification, Deep Pile Overmats front and rear, First Edition Exterior Badge, First Edition Treadplates, First Edition Embroidery to Seats, Garage Door Opener and Valet Key.

Front Seat Comfort Specification (included in First Edition Specification) includes Adjustable Seat Bolsters, Adjustable Seat Cushion Length, Power Adjustable Headrest, Ventilation and Massage, Heated Front Armrest and Hide Trimmed Seat Belt Buckles.

Touring Specification (included in First Edition Specification) includes Lane Guidance, Predictive Adaptive Cruise Control, Night Vision and Head-up Display.

  • Color Check: Audi exclusive Berry Pearl at Audi Forum Neckarsulm

Color Check: Audi exclusive Berry Pearl at Audi Forum Neckarsulm

For fans of tailored cars, a visit to the Audi Forum Neckarsulm is well worth making your way to Audi’s Heilbronn headquarters. It’s on the second floor of that customer delivery center that Audi exclusive maintains its own showroom where cars built to show off the four rings’ in-house tailoring capabilities are displayed. One of those cars during our visit in October of 2022 was this RS 4 Avant (vin: WUAZZZF44NA901565) in Berry Pearl (beerepearleffekt; pearl effect UNI; Z4W; Audi exclusive).

The RS 4 Avant isn’t available in all markets. So, for our mainly North American audience, this car would be forbidden fruit even in its most common form. For us though, the truly noteworthy element of this car is the paint color. Berry Pearl is a striking dark pink bordering on purple. Consider it Audi’s Rubystar, though its pearlescent base gives it much more depth than that 90s era pink from the Porsche Cup of that 964 era.

We typically photograph spec sheets for cars such as this, so we’ve included that also (in German of course) in our photo gallery of the car below.

  • Color Check: BMW Individual Borusan Turkish Blue on M3 Competition Touring

Color Check: BMW Individual Borusan Turkish Blue on M3 Competition Touring

If you’re a fan of bold racing blues then it’s worth taking note of the latest set of M3 Competition Touring photos posted by BMW M to social media (HERE). BMW Individual Borusan Turkish Blue (borusantürkischblau; non-metallic; P9E; BMW) seems to fall more on the green side of the blue spectrum, almost similar to Porsche Riviera Blue.

On social media, the folks at BMW M have gotten quite adept at regularly posting great photography of interesting tailored builds in order to promote the BMW Individual program and its many, many offerings. They’re also using it to drive traffic to the BMW Individual Configurator, which makes for a great way to spend a couple hours imagining the possibilities.

Also, hat tip to Frank van Meet and the rest of the team at BMW M who keep building cars like a Borusan Turkish Blue M3 Competition in long roof, station wagon “Touring” guise. In a world of SUVs, driving enthusiasts can’t thank you enough.

  • Singer Classic Turbo Looking Racy at Goodwood

Singer Classic Turbo Looking Racy at Goodwood

When we think about the remasters, Singer Vehicle Design definitely sets the bar for the rest of the field. Their level of craftsmanship and attention to detail is really above and beyond. And, now that they’ve expanded into their latest Classic Turbo range, it’s fascinating to see them expand the Singer tailoring formula.

Most know that Singer began with a reimagining of the Porsche 964, backdating it first to more of an early ’70s 911 of the iconic so-called “long hood” era. More recently, they’ve gone a different direction with their 964-based builds, offering their Classic Turbo formula that reimagines the bigger bumper 80s G-body look that is perhaps more appealing to a younger clientele who hark those rad-era 911s.

This latest round of photos was shot at Goodwood Motor Circuit, and it times not long after the Goodwood Revival. The car itself is handsome enough in Palm Green Metallic, but it’s inside the cabin where their craftsmen really went above and beyond.

The Cognac leather is accented by woven leather seating surfaces patterned after Porsche’s iconic Pasha waving checkered flag cloth. Wood accents add a further level of luxury to this Classic Turbo, with warm brown wood tones on the dash strip, gear shift, handbrake and even door panels where it artfully integrates the door release lever in a way that much improves the classic appearance of those iconic door panel saddle bags.

Check out the images below, and make sure to like and follow Singer Vehicle Design on social media channels like their Facebook post embedded above in order to catch the latest from the California-based builder.

Crewe, United Kingdom – Bentley’s new portfolio of daily supercars expands today with the addition of the Mulliner versions to the fourth-generation Continental GT, GTC and Flying Spur, from Bentley’s bespoke division. Building on the specification of the performance-focused Speed models with the addition of even more options and luxury details, the Mulliner range offers a striking visual difference with bespoke craftsmanship, increased wellness features and additional technology as standard. The Mulliner versions define the pinnacle models of each of Bentley’s newest product families.

To the exterior, all models receive a new Mulliner signature ‘Floating Diamond’ radiator grille with chrome surround and centre bar, chrome lower grilles, chromeware to the side of the car and chrome-finish tailpipes. The chromeware is complemented by Satin Silver mirror caps. Alternatively, all of the exterior chrome and the mirror caps can be specified in gloss black, through selection of Mulliner Blackline. The Mulliner range also includes a specifically designed 22” wheel in two different finishes, Tungsten Grey or gloss black, both with polished accents and finished with self-levelling Bentley Mulliner wheel badges.

For the Continental GT Mulliner and GTC Mulliner, the fourth-generation face of the car features twin single headlamps with a new, unique and highly intricate ‘cut crystal’ reflector, while a Mulliner badge is fitted to the front wings. For the Flying Spur Mulliner, the Flying B radiator mascot is included as standard (with chrome or black finish), as well as a new Mulliner wing vent with double-diamond detailing.

Welcome and Coming Home light sequences featuring an animation of the Bentley wings are among the many other delightful Mulliner features, as are red-tinted tail lamps (replacing the grey-tinted lamps of the Speed).

Mulliner illuminated outer treadplates and deep-pile overmats welcome passengers inside the ultimate Bentley cabin, which offers a Mulliner curation of custom-made, three-colour combinations. The sumptuously trimmed cockpit is complemented by accent colour piping and unique Mulliner embroidery to the hand-stitched seats with a newly designed Mulliner diamond perforation pattern. For the Continental GTC Mulliner, the new stitching pattern extends to the tonneau cover, visible whenever the seven-bow fabric roof is lowered. New standard features for the Mulliner range also include Wellness seating with Postural Adjust and Auto Climate to the front seats (and to the rear in the Flying Spur), minimising fatigue and providing a level of relaxation and onboard wellness that is truly unique.

The Mulliner design theme continues in the LED driver’s instrument panel, with stylish and exclusive graphics. The now famous Bentley Rotating Display, sports pedals, heated duo-tone three-spoke steering wheel and panoramic sunroof for the Flying Spur and Continental GT add further to the luxurious ambience.

Mulliner models receive leather-bound keys in a unique, Mulliner-branded handcrafted presentation box, matching the three-colour cabin configuration of their car. The two keys are provided in colour-matched cases with contrast stitching.

All of the Mulliner range also include Touring Specification, Colour Specification, animated welcome lamps, mood lighting and Grand Black veneers with a Mulliner overlay. Customers may opt for any of Bentley’s other mainstream veneers in lieu of Grand Black, at no cost.

Visual delight and hand crafted opulence

The interior of the new Mulliner models is a masterclass of craftsmanship showing painstaking attention to detail. A wide choice of new Mulliner-designed hide colour splits is further enhanced by a third accent colour in the form of a distinctive design line.

The new Mulliner models are offered with Comfort Seat Specification, available for all four seats of the Flying Spur Mulliner and the front two seats on the two-door Continental models. Wellness functions such as Postural Adjust and Seat Auto Climate minimise fatigue and promote a sense of relaxed comfort even on the longest journeys. The wellness and comfort of driver and passengers is further enhanced by an air conditioning system that now includes air ionisers, a new particulate matter filter and displays showing air quality outside and inside the vehicle. The system synchronises with the car’s satellite navigation, knowing when it might be necessary to improve cabin air quality (for example by recirculating the cabin air when in a tunnel).

    Abundant power and refinement

As befits such pinnacle models, the new Continental GT Mulliner, Continental GT Convertible Mulliner and Flying Spur Mulliner feature Bentley’s remarkable new Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain, shared with the Speed versions. The new powertrain combines a new 4.0 litre V8 engine capable of producing 600 PS (584 bhp) with a 190 PS (187 bhp) electric motor. Peak system output is 782 PS (771 bhp) and 1000 Nm (738 lb ft) of torque. The new powertrain delivers extreme performance and sets the latest Bentleys apart from their competition – with more horsepower, more torque and a significant drop in CO2 and fuel consumption figures to around one tenth of equivalent conventional petrol powertrains. In turn, this provides an extraordinary range of driving capability, from extreme but daily supercar performance to effortless electric luxury.

At one extreme, it’s capable of serene, silent progress in pure EV mode for up to 50 miles (81 km) for the Continental GT (47 miles (76 km) for the Flying Spur), ideal for Zero Emission Zones or city travel. Full electric mode can be deployed at speeds of up to 87 mph / 140 km/h, with throttle applications of up to 75 per cent. The battery can be fully replenished in as little as 2¾ hours thanks to significant improvements in charger and battery capacity, with 11 kW peak charging power.  When more spirited driving is desired, the combined 782 PS of Bentley V8 and e-motor delivers sensational performance. Complementing the power of the new Ultra Performance Hybrid is a new dual valve damper system and dual chamber air springs, which enables more sophisticated tuning options. The result is that the new Mulliner models can achieve an even more impressive combination of performance, handling, and magic carpet refinement.

    A palette of choice

For all three Mulliner models, customers can choose from a paint range of 101 colours, though this can be expanded to any colour from Bentley’s past, and bespoke paint-matching is also available. For the interior, 15 primary hide colours, 11 secondary shades and 6 accent colours offer endless colour combinations, while Mulliner can also utilise bespoke shades of leather to expand the range even further. The leathers are joined by eight wood veneer options and a further three technical finishes – which can be utilised as single or dual finishes and can also be paint matched to any interior hide or exterior paint colours.

    Seamless integration of technology

All models benefit from the latest generation of electrical architecture, providing a significant step forward in infotainment and driver assistance technology. This technology is the most advanced in the luxury segment and includes an environment display (shown in the driver’s instrument panel) that supports and enables driving in semi-assisted mode. The ownership experience is further enhanced via My Bentley App Studio, Bentley’s digital ecosystem for customers. This offers access to a wide variety of vehicle and third-party applications which can be downloaded directly to the infotainment system, independent of a smartphone.

    Bentley Mulliner

Mulliner is the birthplace of coachbuilding – the oldest automotive coachbuilder in the world – and is renowned throughout the automotive world for crafting some of the most individual Bentleys ever created. As Bentley’s personal commissioning division, Bentley Mulliner is able to respond to the requirements of Bentley’s most discerning customers’ requests for bespoke features to any Bentley. Beyond their bespoke services, Mulliner is also responsible for the Blower Continuation Series and Speed Six Continuation Series – recreating Bentley’s most iconic cars from the 1920s – and the exclusive, coachbuilt Bacalar, Batur and new Batur Convertible models.

ICON Reveals Latest Reformer, a 1975 Jeep Cherokee Named “Safe Flight”

    • Creators of the Restomod Movement Present a Top-Down Modern Reinterpretation of this Iconic Classic Jeep

    [Source: ICON]

LOS ANGELES, CA – ICON 4×4, the pioneering automotive design firm that started the automotive restomod category, is proud to introduce the latest over-the-top build created with expert craftsmanship and design. A 1975 Jeep Cherokee is part of ICON’s exclusive series of one-off builds, called The Reformers. The Reformer series seeks to play a bit of revisionist history, transcending and elevating classic vehicles with a focus on revolutionizing the drivability, all while elevating every detail within the builds themselves.

ICON and its founder and lead designer, Jonathan Ward, undertook an additional mission with this build: to address the negligent errors of the original Detroit designers by correcting the Native American tribal homages that were incorporated into the vehicle’s original design and adding new ones where it made sense. Detroit designers of the 1960s paid little attention to tribal accuracy or historical references in their work. However, drawing on Jonathan Ward’s experience with his leather goods brand, J. Ward, and his apparel line, Campfire Coats, ICON was uniquely positioned to correct these historical oversights and honor the true cultural significance of the original designs. The original concept of the Jeep Cherokee featured several missteps, including an inaccurate depiction of a Native American tribal graphic on the beltline and the use of imitation Naugahyde leather instead of genuine cowhide. The tribal graphic? Not from the Cherokee nation. The stamped ‘hide’ of faux Naugahyde in a Western style? Completely off the mark. One of the most compelling aspects of these Reformer projects is the chance to thoroughly study the original design priorities. By understanding both the strengths and shortcomings of the original, ICON is able to expand on the design from a fresh, more authentic perspective—correcting inaccuracies while staying true to the spirit of the vehicle.

ICON began with an original 1975 Cherokee and a 1965 Jeep Gladiator, carefully selecting the best elements from these key moments in Jeep’s evolution. Jonathan Ward blended these iconic features to create something truly unique and exceptional, paying homage to the brand’s rich history while simultaneously elevating it to new heights. Drawing on his expertise and the communities connected to his leather goods brand and apparel line, Jonathan Ward conducted a deep dive into traditional Cherokee textile and clay arts. He explored the rich symbolism embedded in each pattern and detail, ensuring that every element in the design was authentic and respectful of Cherokee traditions.

After extensive research and close collaboration with tribal leaders, Jonathan Ward discovered a traditional Cherokee pattern symbolizing ‘safe flight’—an abstract representation of an eagle feather. Historically, this design adorned water vessels and blankets when tribe members embarked on perilous journeys. It was a natural choice for the vehicle, featured prominently along the body and integrated into numerous details, from the gauges and coat hooks to the door trim and more.

For the interior, Ward selected two premium leathers in place of the original vinyl. The primary leather, sourced from Moore & Giles, was chosen for its rich aroma and exceptionally soft texture. The second, from Wickett & Craig, North America’s oldest tannery since 1867, is a vegetable-tanned leather traditionally used for saddles. This durable material was the perfect choice for the hand-tooled seat and door panel accents. In keeping with traditional craftsmanship, Ward enlisted Trajan Vieira, a master artisan and founder of Mercury Leather Works, to carve the leather in the Sheridan style, a technique that gained popularity in early 1900s Wyoming. With German wool square weave carpets hemmed in leather, an Alcantara headliner, bespoke gauges in the original housing, dash knobs, and custom trim, the result is a legitimate piece of art on wheels.

The vehicle is finished in Custom Porsche Chalk paint (kreidegrau; non-metallic UNI; M9A / 3H; Porsche), a sophisticated shade that provides a striking contrast against the sleek Bentley black roof, enhancing the vehicle’s modern silhouette. Along the side, a meticulously hand-painted graphic, an abstract representation of the eagle feather in black and blood red, pays homage to Cherokee heritage, adding a powerful visual statement. Every exterior detail is a testament to ICON’s design prowess. From the grille and badges to the mirrors, handles, and taillight housings, all hard trim was custom-designed and meticulously crafted from machined 6061 aluminum, ensuring durability while exuding refined craftsmanship.

Mechanically, this Cherokee rides on a one-off Art Morrison chassis with coil-over suspension, hydroboosted Brembo brakes, Fox Racing adjustable nitrogen-charged shocks, and tunable sway bars. Under the hood, a HEMI 6.4 V8 delivers 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque, paired with a custom-built GM 4L85E transmission, Atlas II transfer case, and a PSC power steering box. The vehicle is equipped with Currie Industries ICON-specific Dana high-pinion axles (44 front, Extreme 60 rear). The build is completed with BF Goodrich All-Terrain K02 tires and ICON Old School Forged 18″ aluminum rims with stainless dog dish hubcaps.

Modern conveniences, including a Vintage Air Gen IV HVAC system, power windows, door locks, a digital audio system with Focal Utopia speakers, and discreet LED interior lighting, are subtly integrated to preserve the vehicle’s timeless aesthetic, ensuring it will be cherished for decades.

Jonathan Ward, Founder of ICON, reflects on the project; “This project was both an incredible honor and a true joy from a vehicle designer’s perspective. Commissioned by a long-time ICON client with whom we’ve built a deep bond of trust, we were given the rare opportunity to push boundaries and ‘go further.’ The level of creative freedom we were afforded is something every custom designer dreams of. Immersing myself in the various art forms and traditions honored in this build was a deeply rewarding experience, making this project truly one-of-a-kind.”

Rolls-Royce Presents Spectre Lunaflair: A Spellbinding Expression of Bespoke

    • Rolls-Royce Motor Cars announces the one-of-one Spectre Lunaflair
    • Inspired by a lunar halo, where light refracts through ice particles in cirrus clouds
    • Effect creates a brilliant, ethereal technicolour ring around the moon
    • Bespoke holographic paint captures this phenomenon for one-off motor car
    • Creating Lunaflair paint required one year of development
    • Bespoke paint reserved exclusively for the commissioning client

    [source: Rolls-Royce]

“We are constantly astounded by the diversity of ideas that inform our clients’ Bespoke concepts, which frequently draw inspiration from materials, finishes and themes they see in other commissions. Spectre Lunaflair is the perfect example of this, exploring the ethereal beauty of a lunar halo and sparked by the client after witnessing a paint finish on another Bespoke motor car. This symbiotic relationship and cross-pollination of ideas is fostering a ‘virtuous circle’ of innovation and creativity, which is incredibly important to our team of Bespoke designers, as we focus on delivering unparalleled value to those who entrust us with their vision.”
Martina Starke, Head of Bespoke Design, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has unveiled the breathtaking Spectre Lunaflair – a Bespoke commission undertaken on behalf of a significant client from the United States. The extraordinary and exquisite highlight of this landmark motor car is the remarkable holographic paint finish that creates a captivating ‘rainbow’ effect.

The commission takes its inspiration and name from the optical phenomenon of a lunar halo, which appears as a colourful circle of light around the moon. It is caused by moonlight passing through ice crystals in high-altitude cirrus clouds, which act as microscopic prisms: the light refracts creating a spellbinding technicolour ring effect, similar to light passing through a diamond.

Capturing this phenomenon in a Bespoke paint finish required more than one year of experimentation. The paint chemistry, application timings, and base coat were extensively trialled in order to meet the client’s concept. The final finish is achieved by applying seven layers of lacquer, including a specially formulated pearlescent coat, infused with fine flakes of magnesium fluoride and aluminium. This creates a deep metallic effect under low light that bursts into rainbow technicolour in bright sunshine.

The Spectre Lunaflair concept was partially inspired by another Bespoke masterpiece, the one-of-one Phantom Syntopia. Revealed in 2023, it features a dark iridescent Liquid Noir finish, infused with colour-shifting, mirror-like pigment. Captivated by Phantom Syntopia’s appearance, the commissioning patron asked the Bespoke Collective to create a light and luminous expression of this concept that reflected their fascination with the lunar halo phenomenon.

This cross-pollination of ideas, where a previous commission directly informs and inspires a completely new concept and story, speaks to the power of Bespoke. For the marque’s Bespoke Collective of designers, engineers and craftspeople, this virtuous creative circle and interconnection of ideas constantly provides new opportunities for the advancement of their art.

Spectre Lunaflair’s dramatic coachwork is complemented by a fully Bespoke interior. It includes Navy Blue, White, and Peony Pink tones, recalling the spectrum of hues that can be witnessed during a lunar halo. The colour scheme appears on the seats, doors and the Starlight Headliner. This theme is also carried onto the dual-tone steering wheel, with a Navy Blue outer and an Arctic White inner side.

Only one Spectre Lunaflair will ever be produced. The unique Lunaflair paint finish is reserved exclusively for the commissioning patron.

Color Check: Bentley Continental GT Speed First Edition in Tourmaline Green

There’s something right about a green Bentley… especially an incredible specification like this new Continental GT Speed that turned up on the Global Media Drive for the new Continental GT Speed in Andermatt Switzerland. Bentley has released photos of each car on location for the drive. This includes full build specifications. Over the last week or so we’ve been color checking all of them, and next up is a great-looking super light blue known as Tourmaline Green.

On the lighter side of green, Tourmaline Green definitely seems to fit the part on a GT Speed without dipping too closely to British Green that, while iconic, is all-too-common on such cars. The hue is accented on this car with granite on the exterior brightware trim and grey-painted 22-inch ten swept spoke wheels with machined accent surfaces.

Inside, the cabin is a monotone Brunel leather with Mandarin accents, open pore Dark Burr fascias and contrast stitching throughout.

Worth noting, the car also has several options that we’ll list here along with U.S. pricing. These include First Edition Specification ($39,940), Carbon Ceramic Brakes with Painted Calipers ($18,820), Extended Range Solid and Metallic Paint ($8,655), 22-inch Ten Swept Spoke Wheels ($4,400) and Contrast Stitching ($3,930).

Color Check: Aston Martin Magneto Bronze on the New Vanquish at Q New York

The new Aston Martin Vanquish was just revealed a few weeks ago, and now @AstonMartin on Facebook has revealed a few photos of their display car.

The paint color appears to be Aston Martin Magneto Bronze, one of many standard hues for Vanquish. So, it may not be a Q specification tailored build, but it’s a fantastic color on a fantastic new sportscar so we wanted to share it just the same.
