Eccentrica Unveils Remastered Lamborghini Diablo at The Quail

    [source: Eccentrica]

CARMEL, CA – Eccentrica, a San Marino-based restomod manufacturer, globally unveiled its fully drivable Eccentrica V12, a modern interpretation of the legendary Lamborghini Diablo, at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering. The limited-production vehicle combines the Diablo’s classic aesthetics with cutting-edge technology and showcases for the first time a powerful new 60-degree naturally aspirated V12 engine.

Under the hood, the Eccentrica V12 houses a 5.7-liter V12 engine derived from the early ’90s first generation Diablos, producing an impressive 550 HP and 600 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a new custom-made 6-speed transmission, offering updated gear ratios and a new power steering system for optimal performance, a feature that was absent in the first series Diablo (1991-1994). New camshafts, electronic throttle body, and an optimized flywheel elevate Eccentrica’s prowess, achieving an impressive 55 horsepower, with a more progressive delivery over the original engine and a sizeable 10kph increase in maximum speed over the already lightning-fast Diablo to reach an estimated top speed of 335kph (208mph).

Emanuel Colombini, founder and president of Eccentrica, expressed his enthusiasm for the project saying, “The Eccentrica V12 is a personal passion project, born from my lifelong admiration for the Lamborghini Diablo. While I have such admiration for the original design, I wanted to enhance the driving experience. What you see here today is the result of our engineering team going to work to deliver a car that transcends the boundaries of what has previously been achievable in technology and performance. It’s a completely modern hypercar with the heart and soul of a ‘90s classic.”

Further technical improvements include the reinforcement of the chassis components using composite materials and a double-wishbone suspension, upgraded with active dampers by TracTive. This advanced setup enables three different settings and incorporates a front axle lift system, ensuring a smooth and responsive ride for drivers. The vehicle is also equipped with an entire new exhaust system developed by Capristo for a thrilling experience.

In terms of braking capabilities, the Eccentrica V12 is equipped with an innovative BREMBO braking system, featuring the brand’s first-ever matte-painted calipers. This advanced technology provides superior braking performance, guaranteeing optimal safety on the road. In addition, the Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires assure improved road-holding, which means more grip, security and higher speeds while the new custom-made 19-inch rims, forged from aluminum alloy, are lighter and larger, providing a firmer driving experience.

The interior of the Eccentrica V12 strikes a balance between classic design and modern innovation. Maintaining the Diablo’s retro-futuristic aesthetic, the cockpit seamlessly integrates cutting-edge technology into the steering wheel, dashboard instruments, a new digital infotainment system and rear camera located on the rearview mirror and control surfaces, offering drivers an immersive and state-of the-art driving experience.

Adding to the overall sensory experience, the Eccentrica V12 is fitted with a fully customized Marantz audio system. Meticulously designed with high-quality materials, speaker positions, and components, this exceptional sound system complements the driving experience, transforming every journey into a memorable and sensory-rich experience.

Only 19 models will be produced, each highly customizable to the owner’s specifications, guaranteeing exclusivity and uniqueness, with first deliveries beginning in the summer of 2025.

The unveil at The Quail comes on the heels of the company’s recent appointment of industry visionary Maurizio Reggiani as an advisor to Eccentrica. With experience attained over decades with Maserati, Bugatti, and as former CTO and Vice President of Motorsport at Lamborghini, Reggiani will provide strategic and technical guidance, foster innovation, and offer expert insights during the production phase of the Eccentrica.

    • Speed Six Continuation Series and 1961 S2 Drophead Coupe travel to the USA for Monterey Car Week

    [source: Bentley]

Crewe, UK – Bentley’s new, fourth-generation Continental GT Speed is to make its US debut this week, at the prestigious The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering – part of Monterey Car Week. The launch will feature the first new Continental GT Speed to include bespoke content added by Mulliner, Bentley’s in-house personalisation and coachbuilding division.

Responsible not only for bespoke work to mainstream Bentley models, now including the new Continental GT Speed, Mulliner also created the Blower and Speed Six Continuation Series and the exquisite and highly limited Bacalar, Batur and Batur Convertible coachbuilt Bentleys.

    Personally Commissioned Through Mulliner
From launch, the new Continental GT Speed is available with personalised details through Mulliner’s Personal Commissioning Guide. This permits customers to explore their imagination away from the typical options list, which alone can create tens of billions of possible specification combinations.

For Monterey Car Week, an orange-themed GT Speed created through Mulliner will lead the fleet. The exterior paintwork is finished in Orange Flame Satin, one of 15 satin colours in Bentley’s paint range that each take up to 55 hours of craftsmanship to apply and finish to the perfect standard. In contrast to the orange bodywork, all exterior brightware is finished in gloss black, with matching black-painted 22” ten-spoke wheels with self-levelling badges. The visual impact of the specification is matched aurally, thanks to a sports exhaust and the Naim for Bentley audio system.

The interior is where the Personal Commissioning Guide elements come to the fore. Starting from a cabin crafted in Gravity Grey (a new shade for the new Continental GT Speed) and Brunel leathers, accents of contrast orange bring the cockpit to life. The Diamond Quilted areas to the seats, doors and rear quarter panels feature contrast-stitching in Gravity Grey. The same colour is used with a Piano finish in conjunction with Piano Brunel for dual finish painted fascias, with the centre console matching in Piano Brunel – both colours exactly matched to their respective hides.

Accents in Mandarin – a bright orange – are then applied as a painted pinstripe to the fascias, door waistrails and the vanes of the upper ‘bullseye’ air vents. The split line through the two colours of the fascias carries a dark tint finish. The same Mandarin orange accent graces all four seats through contrast piping, carrying the orange theme from the exterior into the cabin.

    Bentley at Monterey Car Week
A fleet of more than 30 new Continental GT Speeds has now arrived in North America, ready to start a nationwide dealer tour and a programme of customer drives and events to demonstrate the incredible potency of Bentley’s new Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain. The latest evolution of the Continental GT family features an all-new 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine paired with a powerful electric motor and 25.9 kWh battery, for an astonishing suite of performance statistics. The new Grand Tourer is a true everyday supercar and can accelerate from standstill to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds, achieve a top speed of 208 mph, and yet travel 50 miles on electric power alone on the EU drive cycle – while creating only 29 g/km of CO2  and with a total range of more than 500 miles.

Bentley will continue its significant presence across Monterey Car Week for 2024. Along with the squadron of new Continental GT Speeds, two very special Bentleys have made the journey to California for the event

Following a global dynamic debut at the recent Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Speed Six Continuation Series will appear on-the-road throughout Monterey Car Week. After the Bedford Grey ‘Factory Works’ car graced Goodwood, the Parsons Napier Green ‘Car Zero’ – which has recently completed the engineering test and development programme for the project – will be used for customer, media and VIP passenger rides across the week.

The Bentley Heritage Collection’s 1961 S2 Drophead Coupe – one of just 15 ever made – will also join the event, fresh from a two-year restoration programme. The car represents Bentley’s first ever entry into the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, taking pride of place in the Post-War Touring class.

Meanwhile, Bentley’s iconic Friday night dinner on Seal Rock Beach returns, sponsored this year by the Bentley Environmental Foundation and featuring some exciting new developments for the initiative. The new GT Speed coupe and Convertible will be joined by the S2 Drophead Coupe and Speed Six to form a Guard of Honour at Bentley’s famous Signature Party at the Beach & Tennis Club – the place to be on the Saturday night of Monterey Car Week.

    The new Continental GT Speed

The fourth generation Continental GT Speed follows in the 21-year tradition of the Continental GT family by redefining the ultimate blend of supercar performance, handcrafted luxury and everyday usability.

A comprehensive exterior and interior redesign with clean modern detailing follow the new design DNA established by the coachbuilt Bentley Bacalar and Batur. Outstanding performance is brought by the all-new Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain with 782 PS and 1,000 Nm, from a 4.0-litre V8 working in tandem with a 190 PS electric motor.

The performance of the powertrain is matched by a new chassis system, with new two-chamber air springs paired with new dual-valve dampers, along with Bentley Dynamic Ride (48V active anti-roll control), eLSD and torque vectoring. Incredible body control and the best Continental GT ride comfort to date are the results, supported by a 49:51, rear-biased weight distribution for the first time in the car’s history.

Under the skin, a suite of innovative modern technology delivers class-leading capability so that every journey is a seamless experience in terms of driver assistance, infotainment systems and connected car services.

The new exterior continues the design revolution for Bentley’s future journey, with the biggest revision to the face of the Continental GT in two decades, and the first mainstream Bentley with single headlamps since the 1950s.

World-leading Bentley interior cabin design, materials, quality, and craftsmanship continue with the introduction of further wellness seat technology, new air ionisation, three-dimensional leather textures, new modern quilting, and technical finishes such as new dark chrome.

For the first time in the history of the Continental GT, the convertible Continental GTC is being launched concurrently with the coupe – providing ultimate flexibility for customers who appreciate both open topped and closed roof motoring.

Both coupe and convertible models will be crafted entirely by hand at Bentley’s Dream Factory in Crewe, England. Production is due to begin in late Q3 with deliveries starting in Q4.

  • Mint Green Ferrari F40 “Minty 40” Headed to Monterey Auction Block with RM

Mint Green Ferrari F40 “Minty 40” Headed to Monterey Auction Block with RM

If you’re headed to Monterey Car Week, one auction car you definitely shouldn’t miss is Lot #362 at RM Sotheby’s, one very unusual 1991 Ferrari F40. Dubbed “Minty 40” for obvious reasons, the color is Verde Pallido also famously sprayed on a Ferrari 250 GTO for Stirling Moss and raced in the 1962 24 Hours of Le Mans by Innes Ireland and Masten Gregory.

Okay, so technically it’s a respray. Chassis number ZFFGJ34B000088538 was originally built in Rosso Cross over a red Staffa Vigogna interior. It was involved in an accident, requiring it to be repaired (which is detailed in the RM Sotheby’s synopsis below. Given it wasn’t in as-delivered condition any longer, its most recent owner decided to change things up into the car you see here. And now that this last owner is ready to move on, the car will be auctioned off later this week during Monterey Car Week.

Check out more photos and details on the car via the RM Sotheby’s link HERE. We’ve also reprinted the RM Sotheby’s written description of the car below, and added a few photos. Even more photos and supporting documents are available via the RM Sotheby’s link.

    1991 Ferrari F40 ‘Minty 40’

    [source: RM Sotheby’s]

    • The “Minty Forty,” a spectacular, utterly unique interpretation of the iconic F40
    • Finished in homage to chassis 3505 GT, the Verde Pallido Ferrari 250 GTO famously built for Stirling Moss
    • European-market example retaining its matching-numbers engine and gearbox
    • Reproduced in exacting scale form by Amalgam; accompanied by an example of this limited-production model
    • A truly one-of-a-kind supercar, sure to cause a sensation wherever it goes

Addendum: Please note that due to California emissions, this vehicle must be sold to a dealer or out-of-state resident.

There is no such thing as an “ordinary” F40. A car with such a pedigree, with such outrageous design, such compelling performance, and of such rarity, could never be anything but spectacular.

Notable for being the last supercar developed during Enzo Ferrari’s lifetime, the F40 was a pure distillation of everything Il Commendatore had poured into his company over the preceding four decades. Evolving from the cancelled Group B 288 GTO Evoluzione into a 40th anniversary road car, it did not lose its competition-inspired mission brief. The F40 featured a race-developed steel tube-frame chassis with four-wheel double-wishbone independent suspension, coil-over Koni shock absorbers, and four-caliper ventilated disc brakes. Pietro Camardella’s coachwork design, executed under the direction of Leonardo Fioravanti and aerodynamically perfected in Pininfarina’s wind tunnel, was built with paneling woven from Kevlar and carbon fiber, reducing curb weight while greatly increasing structural rigidity.

Positioned behind the driver was a twin-turbocharged V-8 displacing 2.9 liters and fitted with IHI turbochargers and Behr intercoolers; this engine was married to a five-speed transaxle actuated by a gated shifter. The resulting performance was nothing short of astounding, as the type F120 040 engine developed 478 horsepower and 425 pound-feet of torque, capable of launching the F40 to 60 mph from standstill in just 3.8 seconds and achieving a top speed of 201 mph (thereby eclipsing the Porsche 959 and Lamborghini Countach).

With aggressive looks and stupefying performance, each of the 1,235 Ferrari F40s built for worldwide sale remains a traffic-stopping mechanical masterpiece. Yet each of these 1,235 left the Ferrari factory in Maranello finished in one single color: Rosso Corsa.

    CHASSIS 88538

The car offered here, chassis 88538, was no different—at first. Completed on 27 February 1991 in the F40’s signature Rosso Corsa over a red Stoffa Vigogna interior, it was distributed to Ferrari Deutschland GmbH and sold to its first owner, Dieter Wolf of Wölfersheim, Germany via Auto Becker of Düsseldorf that May. Mr. Wolf was obviously an active F40 owner; according to research on file by Ferrari historian Marcel Massini, he attended the F40 meeting in Mugello, Italy in 1992, as well as a Ferrari Club Deutschland gathering the following year.

In 1994, chassis 88538 was acquired by the then German Ferrari Club president, and noted collector, Arnold Gardemann. During his care in around 1998 the car was involved in an accident and was sold to a Dutch owner, who commissioned noted specialists Forza Service in the Netherlands to repair the car to factory specifications. As part of these repairs the front clamshell was replaced; however, today body numbers are present on the on the door hinge, rear spoiler, and rear fender. During the recent respray, when the red paint was removed, a repair to one sill was noted. In 2008, after the repairs had long been completed, the car received its Ferrari Classiche Certification, confirming that it retains its matching numbers engine and gearbox, and attesting that the repairs were carried out to full original specifications and standards.

After the completion of this work, chassis 88538 returned to the roads of Europe, appearing at the Ferrari Club Germany 25th Anniversary Meeting in Baden-Baden, Germany. In 2003, Forza Service replaced the odometer, confirming in writing that due to mechanical failure the car’s odometer (then displaying 11,442 kilometers) was replaced with an odometer that displayed 7,118 kilometers. More recently, it participated in the Ferrari Tribute to the Mille Miglia for three consecutive years, from 2010–2012.

After changing hands at auction in 2014 and privately in 2017, it was acquired by its present owner in 2021. Initially he had planned to repaint the car red; however, with the car fully stripped, a new idea emerged. Even if chassis 88538 was preserved in as-delivered configuration, it would never be a true “in the wrapper” specimen.

But could this actually be liberating? Could this F40 be driven, just as Enzo intended, making a bold statement in the process?

    THE ‘MINTY FORTY’ IS BORN

One glance at chassis 88538 shows the path its owner took—and its head-turning new look was a key step in giving this F40 an identity all its own. Its paint is a clear homage to Ferrari chassis 3505 GT, the famous Verde Pallido 250 GTO built for Sir Stirling Moss and eventually raced at the 1962 24 Hours of Le Mans by Innes Ireland and Masten Gregory.

The 250 GTO is, much like the F40, most often seen wearing classic Ferrari red; chassis 3505 GT’s unique livery sets it instantly apart from its distinguished peers, and the beautiful pale green shade has inspired paint colors on subsequent Ferrari models—though never, until now, on an F40. To complement the exterior color, the interior was expertly re-trimmed in blue by one of the most talented trimmers in the region, more used to refitting aircraft interiors than cars. His work is exceptional, and brings a new coherence to the “Minty” concept.

Historical context aside, it one look is all it takes to see how this machine got its enduring nickname: the “Minty Forty.” Chassis 88538 has been in effect a one-car show since its debut in this form, turning heads and appearing in countless posts on social media. It has even been honored with an official Ferrari licensed product by being reproduced, in exacting 1:8 and 1:18 scale form, by renowned model-maker Amalgam (1:18 scale Amalgam model accompanies the sale). It is, simply, sensational—and making the already-incredible F40 into even more of a spectacle is no mean feat!

Now ready for its next caretaker, chassis 88538 has been maintained by Schaltkulisse since 2022 as documented by invoices on file. Fuel tanks were replaced in 2022, alongside the major timing belt service, in total over €43,000 has been spent on the car in the last 18 months excluding the cost of painting the car in its new color, ensuring the car is as good as it looks. At time of cataloguing, it has been driven a little over 31,000 kilometers, or nearly 19,300 miles; a healthy amount for an F40, this is clearly just the beginning of its epic journey.

Sure to make an impression wherever it ventures, the “Minty Forty” is an intensely charismatic machine that demands to roar down the open road, not sit parked in a garage. It is not for the faint of heart.

Then again, no F40 ever was.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars unveils Spectre Semaphore, a Bespoke one-of-one commission that will make its global debut at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, on 16 August, during the 2024 Monterey Car Week in California. This highly Bespoke expression of Rolls-Royce Spectre captures the bold new codes of luxury being established by the marque’s confident, youthful client base.

The exterior coachwork is finished in Bespoke Semaphore Yellow – the colour from which this commission takes its name. This solid hue is further elevated with a unique artwork on the bonnet, inspired by the informal elegance of coastal California. Named ‘Marbled Paint Spill’, the graphic is an abstract tribute to the Golden State and its diverse environment. From the sunshine of Southern California to the eastern silver mountain tops, the Bespoke artisans have brought this inspiration to reality.

To create this motif, Rolls-Royce craftspeople applied silver lacquer and multiple layers of clearcoat for a seamless finish. The bonnet alone is the product of over 160 hours of design, development and production.

The bright yellow colourway extends into the motor car’s interior. A combination of Bespoke Lemon Yellow and Citrine Yellow is used across the seats, Starlight doors and above the instrument panel. It blends into the contrasting Grace White and Slate Grey hues with Lemon Yellow stitching. The marque’s designers also leveraged the digital Bespoke potential offered by the SPIRIT operating system by complementing the dials to the motor car’s yellow colourway.

Spectre Semaphore maximises the interior suite’s contemporary design with a clean, high-polish Bespoke painted wood set. Coloured to match the grey material accents, the Cashmere Grey paint is infused with silver mica flakes, which creates a vivacious sparkle under direct light.

Only one Rolls-Royce Spectre Semaphore will be built. It will be displayed on 16 August at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, as part of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ presence at Monterey Car Week 2024.

The RSR Project Reveals Ultra-Lightweight RSR Carrera 911 Reimagined for Daily Driving with Iconic Gulf Blue Colorway

Commissions Starting at $375,000The RSR Project Channels Ethos of Lightweight Design with Newly Presented 1986 Custom Build

    [source: The RSR Project]

BEDFORD HILLS, NY – The RSR Project is intensely focused on honoring the illustrious seventies racing style of Porsche in all of the company’s custom builds inspired by the very same era. Newly presented, The RSR Project proudly unveils another delightfully analogue one-of-a-kind restoration and modification of a 1986 Porsche channeled into an absolutely stunning Gulf Blue (gulfblau; non-metallic / non-metallic UNI; 328; Porsche) 911 custom paying homage to the iconic 1973 RennSport Rennwagen (RSR). Starting at $375,000, the new 235-hp 1986 Gulf Blue 911 from RSR Project is made for daily driving and unlike many restorations, meant to be used by clients for enjoying the open road.

Starting life as a 1986 911, the latest highlighted RSR Project build features a 3.4L engine upgraded from the original vehicle’s 3.2L, significantly increasing overall power output to 235-hp. The additional horsepower and performance is specially designed by RSR Project to mirror the uniquely raw, crisp experience found behind the wheel of an original RSR classic. RSR Project also concisely integrates a host of other body modifications to further reduce vehicle weight.

While original RSR 911 iterations regularly sell at auctions for millions of dollars, RSR Project presents clients with a reimagined car that is meant to be driven in the same captivating style and sublime on-road driving experience as the classic. First conceived in 1973 as the absolute apex of the Stuttgart factory’s incredible engineering prowess, the lightweight RSR cars historically built a reputation as being the cars to beat in global racing challenges on track and off, including the 24-Hours of Le Mans. Literally translated from German “RennSport Rennwagen” to English “Racing Sport Racing car,” RSR cars became the alpha version of Porsche’s venerated 911 series.

“I actually started RSR Project to build a custom for myself. As soon as enthusiasts and collectors took a look at my finished car out on the road, many wanted one for themselves. My background is in operations and manufacturing, so my professional skill set has served RSR Project well as more and more clients commission cars with us,” comments Richard Schickman, Founder of The RSR Project. “Original RSR cars are almost impossible to find these days, and if a collector does manage to procure one, they seldom drive it. Inversely, RSR Project builds cars that are made to be driven. While many companies strive to make classic cars into something decidedly modern, RSR Project recaptures the original essence of the RSR in a period correct way that better suits drivers today. RSR Project cars are not for everyone, but driving purists that know the original car can come to us.”

RSR Project starts every commission by sourcing a donor body from a vehicle dated between 1984 – 1989. Porsches from this era were built with galvanized bodies preventing many from rusting even decades later. The approach allows RSR Project to streamline the conversion process, as there are less differences in body and interior styling from that era than with newer nineties renditions of the 911. Following a complete disassembly of the donor vehicle, RSR Project deletes all superfluous vehicle features including the original factory electric windows and electric seats to reduce overall vehicle weight to the absolute minimum.

Clients have the option of a subtly integrated A/C unit, but the Gulf Blue client opted to go without this upgrade to keep the car even more nimble. RSR Project further reduced weight by removing the car’s front and rear impact bumpers and front and rear metal deck lids. Clients can also reduce further weight by having RSR Project integrate a special aluminum hood. RSR Project also introduces a special ducktail spoiler to reimagine the beautiful silhouette of the original vehicle.

The RSR Project takes a minimalist approach to the cabin, lining the contours of the saloon in ultra-lightweight Perlon carpet and vinyl appearing throughout the headliner, dashboard, and door panels. While many restoration specialists introduce opulent interior customizations, RSR Project instead focuses on recapturing the spartan, race-ready essence of the original. The new 1986 RSR Project custom includes the classic RS door panels alongside original styled seats, which are swathed in super-premium leather and Scottish Tartan. A vintage dashboard is integrated along with fully updated new gauges, and a WEVO racing-style shifter. RSR Project also offers a roll-cage option for safety.
RSR Project engine modifications include the installation of race spec cams, which introduce aggressive lift and duration profiles to optimize airflow and power at high RPMs. Additionally, RSR Project fine-tunes the ECU with a Steve Wong Chip (SW Chip), resulting in improved throttle response, increased horsepower, and enhanced overall engine performance. To further boost the engine’s capabilities, RSR Project has increased the engine displacement from 3.2 liters to 3.4 liters. This increases displacement, combined with the high-performance camshafts and custom ECU tuning, delivers a smoother, more powerful driving experience that exhilarates.

RSR Project engines are comprehensively rebuilt and detailed to factory-new condition with clients having the option between 3.2L, 3.4L or 3.5L engine formats. Additional engine appointments can include stock, PMO or custom fuel injection. All gaskets and rubber on board each engine is fully replaced, making each customized build absolutely brand new inside and out. Clients have the option to choose between the original single-piston factory brakes or upgraded four-piston brakes with sharper stopping power. The new RSR Project 1986 Gulf Blue build features upgraded four-piston brakes engineered for improved on-road driving dynamics. The vehicle’s suspension is also completely rebuilt with new Bilstein shocks and bushings with Braid wheels (11×15 in rear and 9×15 in front) wearing sticky Michelin TB-15 tires.

Prior to each vehicle delivery, every RSR Project car is thoroughly road tested and shaken-down to rigorous standards to ensure the highest expectations of quality and performance. Commissions for a bespoke RSR Project car now start at $375,000 with vehicle delivery typically taking 12 – 18 months. To learn more about The RSR Project, please visit www.thersrproject.com.
