Filmed at actual Formula 1® races around the world, the film will deliver authentic racing action combined with equally compelling characters and a powerful story. As an official promotional partner of Apple Original Films and Warner Bros. Pictures, Mercedes‑AMG supported the film crew with F1® team expertise as well as performance vehicles and sports cars from its current portfolio. Off the racetrack, an AMG SL, G-class and GT are featured on screen. The Mercedes‑AMG Official FIA F1® Safety Car and Medical Car were also provided for use in the movie, in action. A global co-promotion campaign in AMG’s core markets supporting the movie’s release will round off the partnership.

At the Formula 1® Miami Grand Prix, Mercedes‑AMG presents the highly exclusive special edition 2026 AMG GT 63 “APXGP Edition” ahead of the film’s release. It features numerous unique design elements and equipment details that closely mirror the design from the film’s fictional APXGP Formula 1® team. The Mercedes‑AMG GT combines a highly dynamic driving experience with everyday practicality. Advanced technology such as AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension with active roll stabilization, active rear-axle steering and active aerodynamics deliver precise handling. The sporty coupe also features a 577-hp Handcrafted AMG 4.0L V8 biturbo engine and AMG Performance 4MATIC+ fully variable all-wheel drive. The exclusive AMG sports car architecture with its sophisticated bonded aluminum body structure allows for a spacious interior with available 2+2 seating and generous cargo space.

“F1 brilliantly intertwines the fictional APXGP team with the real-world Formula 1®. The thrilling storyline and realistic race footage will set moviegoers’ hearts racing. We’re excited to showcase our performance vehicles, including the dynamic AMG GT, in this high-performance setting. Michael Schiebe, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH and

    Head of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class & Mercedes-Maybach divisions

F1 stars Brad Pitt as a former driver who returns to Formula 1®, alongside Damson Idris as his teammate at APXGP, a fictional race team on the grid. The movie was shot during real-life Grand Prix weekends as the team competed against the titans of the sport. The star-studded cast also includes Academy Award nominee Kerry Condon, Academy Award winner Javier Bardem, Emmy Award winner Tobias Menzies, Emmy Award nominee Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia and Samson Kayo.

Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick) directed and produced the film alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman of Jerry Bruckheimer Films. Co-producers were Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner for Plan B Entertainment, and Lewis Hamilton under the auspices of his Dawn Apollo Films banner. The movie was made in collaboration with Formula 1® and the F1® community, including the ten Formula 1® teams and their drivers, the FIA and race promoters. Copper CEO Penni Thow served as executive producer.

F1 will be distributed in theatres around the world and in IMAX® by Warner Bros. Pictures, opening in theatres in North America on June 27, 2025, and internationally beginning on June 25, 2025.

Special model in the livery of the movie’s fictional Formula 1® team

The “APXGP Edition,” strictly limited to just 52 vehicles globally, is closely based on the movie and showcases a special APXGP Edition paint finish. Numerous APXGP-specific designs have been painstakingly applied by hand based on the F1® film car’s paintwork. Amongst others, Race Gold accents can be seen on the surround of the AMG-specific radiator grille, front fenders (with checkered flag design), side sills, rear apron and rear diffuser blade.

The 21-inch AMG Forged Cross-Spoke wheels are also painted in matte Race Gold. The black brake calipers of the AMG High Performance Carbon Ceramic Brake System with six-piston fixed calipers at the front and one-piston floating calipers at the rear provide a powerful contrast.

The AMG Carbon Fiber package with front splitter, side sill trims, rear diffuser, and in conjunction with the AMG Aerodynamics package, a fixed rear wing on the trunk lid in high quality carbon fiber emphasizes the connection to motorsport. The AMG Extended Night Package also enhances the unique exterior of the “APXGP Edition” with elements finished in black chrome including radiator grille, AMG crest, model badging and Mercedes star at the rear of the vehicle. An AMG fuel filler cap in silver chrome with AMG lettering further emphasizes the vehicle’s sporty character.

Numerous exclusive details in Race Gold are also highlighted throughout the interior. The AMG Performance seats are upholstered in black Nappa leather/microfiber and customized with gold contrast stitching. The AMG trim elements in carbon fiber with gold-colored threads compliment the heated AMG Performance steering wheel in microfiber with black 12 o’clock markings and gold stitching. This contrast stitching also extends to the door panels, instrument panel and center armrest. The MANUFAKTUR door sill trims with AMG lettering are anodized black and with gold illumination. The AMG floor mats feature a leather insert embroidered with the “APXGP” logo in Race Gold. The “Limited Edition 1 of 52” badge in the center console underscores the exclusivity of the special model.

The Burmester® High-End 3D Surround Sound System with 15 speakers and 1,170-watt system output is included among the edition’s extensive equipment. AMG TRACK PACE captures a wealth of data when driving on the racetrack. A lift system on the front axle can be used to raise the vehicle for additional clearance over speed bumps and steep driveways.

Each AMG GT 63 “APXGP Edition” also includes a custom, edition-specific AMG Indoor Car Cover with a breathable outer skin made of tear-resistant synthetic fiber fabric and an antistatic inner fabric made of flannel.

Amsterdam, Netherlands – Lotus honours one of the greatest drivers of all time with the introduction of the Emira Clark Edition, in collaboration with the Jim Clark Trust. This exclusive model, limited to just 60 cars for selected markets, will make its world debut leading at the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix.

The legacy of Jim Clark and Team Lotus is forever etched into the history of motorsport. In 1965, Clark secured the Formula 1 World Championship with Team Lotus and triumphed in the iconic Indianapolis 500 — a remarkable double victory that remains unmatched to this day. That same year, Clark further demonstrated his extraordinary talent with championship victories in Formula 2 and the Tasman Series in Australia and New Zealand, as well as winning touring car races in a Lotus Cortina.

This unparalleled success story serves as the inspiration behind the creation of the Lotus Emira Clark Edition — a fitting tribute to a driver whose achievements continue to define excellence and innovation in racing.

    Exclusive design and interior
The body of the exclusive Emira is finished in Clark Racing Green with a contrasting black roof, silver mirrors and an iconic yellow racing stripe flared around the front end, inspired by Clark’s 1965 Indianapolis 500-winning Lotus Type 38. A machined aluminium fuel filler cap with a blue anodised centre and yellow exhaust pipes further enhance the exclusive look. A hand-painted yellow pinstripe picks out the Emira swage line, complemented by Clark Edition branding on the doors inspired by the Clark logo used on his racing cars.

The interior exudes pure motorsport and nostalgia. The sports seats’ asymmetrical finish is reminiscent of the red-trimmed Lotus racing cars Clark drove in 1965 and emphasise the driver-focused nature of the Emira Clark Edition with a driver’s seat upholstered in red leather and Alcantara®, while the passenger seat is upholstered in black leather and Alcantara®.

The Emira Clark Edition also has a sixties-style wooden gear knob and special commemorative Jim Clark badging featuring Clark’s personalised tartan from Lochcarron, Scotland. Additional details complement the interior, including a Jim Clark signature on the dashboard and Team Lotus detailing on the seats.

Every Emira Clark Edition will have numbered carbon fibre treadplates (1 of 60) adding to the exclusive feel of this very limited edition. Each customer will also receive a bespoke hand-crafted leather holdall with unique Clark Edition details.

Based on the powerful Lotus Emira V6
The Emira Clark Edition is based on the Lotus Emira V6 and combines the brand’s sporting performance with a stylish tribute to the Scottish racing legend and his Lotus racing cars. The Lotus Emira V6 is powered by a 400 hp supercharged 3.5-litre V6 engine with a six-speed manual gearbox and limited-slip differential. The Emira V6 offers a pure driving experience thanks to the unfiltered hydraulic steering feel and the Lotus Driver’s pack which includes sports suspension, Track Mode and revised exhaust sound.

A worldwide tribute to a racing legend
With the Emira Clark Edition, Lotus pays tribute to one of the most iconic drivers in the history of motorsport. The combination of exclusive design and uncompromising performance makes this limited edition a coveted collector’s item for car enthusiasts worldwide.

The Emira Clark Edition pricing will be £115,000 in the UK (€140,000 in Germany).

Land Rover Classic Launches Classic Defender V8 Soft Top

    • Classic Defender V8 Soft Top joins the Land Rover Classic line‑up, paying homage to previous generations of Defender Soft Top, including the sought‑after NAS 90 from the 1990s
    • Carefully hand‑built by the expert engineers at Land Rover Classic who know the model best, each made‑to‑order vehicle is based on an original Solihull‑built Defender
    • Comprehensive rebuild and upgrade programme includes 405PS 5.0‑litre petrol V8 engine, eight‑speed automatic transmission, revised suspension, uprated brakes and luxurious interior
    • Classic Defender clients can create their dream Soft Top, with a choice of four hood colours, two hood styles, and near‑limitless bespoke personalisation
    • New Classic Defender V8 Soft Top prices start from £195,000 plus applicable local taxes

Coventry, UK –  Land Rover Classic has confirmed the return of an icon with the launch of the Classic Defender V8 Works Bespoke Soft Top – the most desirable classic Land Rover Defender.

Soft‑top examples of the classic Defender are highly sought‑after, and the new addition makes it possible to own a personalised example of this legendary model from the official home of classic Defenders, combining the joy of open‑topped driving with traditional Defender off‑road capability.

Exclusively available on the short‑wheelbase ‘90’ chassis, the Soft Top – the first Defender Soft Top since 2016 – follows the introduction of the new Works Bespoke service in 2024. The Soft Top provides a new way for clients to express their dream vision of a legendary Classic Defender.

Each Classic Defender V8 Soft Top is the result of hundreds of hours of work by expert Land Rover Classic engineers. Every example begins with a specially sourced donor vehicle, originally produced from 2012‑2016, which is comprehensively enhanced and reengineered. The result is a unique vehicle, produced to OEM standards with longevity, luxury and capability in mind.

A bespoke canvas hood ensures a perfect fit, and is available in four colours, with Black as standard and Sand, Dark Khaki and Navy also available. Its unique design is inspired by the hood fitted to the last Defender to roll off the production line in 2016 and features authentic tie downs and webbing. The side and rear sections can be unzipped and rolled‑up for open air driving while retaining a degree of protection from the elements, and Land Rover Classic has added extra tie‑down points to keep the canvas tightly secured at highway speeds.

The hood frame itself has been specially designed for the new model, with bracing that takes its inspiration from the coveted original NAS (North American Specification) 90. A smaller ‘Bikini Hood’ is also available, protecting the front‑seat occupants, in the same range of colours.

A selection of 49 paint finishes allows clients to create their perfect look, while the Works Bespoke match‑to‑sample colour service allows owners to create truly individual paint schemes.

Clients can personalise a vast array of exterior and interior details to bring their Soft Top vision to life, including the grille, door handles and bonnet script, while a choice of 16‑inch Wolf wheels or 18‑inch Sawtooth alloys is available – the former finished in either Black or Limestone. Inside, there are five monotone or eight duo‑tone leather options to choose from, with colours such as Caraway, Liberty Blue, and Garnet, plus any number of other bespoke finishes. Unusual options and accessories include an onboard wine cooler and a custom surfboard rack, allowing Land Rover Classic to create one‑off examples to suit any lifestyle.

All Classic Defender V8 Soft Top vehicles are powered by a Land Rover 5.0‑litre petrol V8 engine, with 405hp and 515Nm of torque. This is paired with an eight‑speed ZF automatic transmission, ensuring effortless performance and precise responses.

The V8 power is accompanied by uprated suspension and brakes. The suspension set‑up is specifically tailored to the unique characteristics of the 90 Soft Top and combines traditional Defender capability with superior comfort in all environments. Its revised coil spring rates, Eibach anti‑roll bars, and Bilstein dampers have undergone comprehensive testing and development to ensure they meet OEM standards. The brakes are uprated to four‑piston Alcon units with front discs measuring 335mm in diameter, and 300mm at the rear, for confidence‑inspiring stopping power.

Dedicated personalised support is provided by the specialist teams at Land Rover Classic in Coventry, UK, and Essen, Germany. Prices for the Classic Defender V8 Soft Top start from £195,000 plus applicable local taxes and every example comes with a one‑year, unlimited mileage warranty.

    V8 DEFENDER HISTORY

V8 powertrains in the Land Rover Defender and its production predecessors started with the Series III Stage 1 V8 of 1979. The carburetted 3.5‑litre Rover V8 produced 90bhp.

The Land Rover 110 from 1983, and 90 from 1984, used the same 3.5‑litre Rover V8 engine as the Series III Stage 1 V8, but in 113bhp form, uprated to 135bhp from 1987.

For North American Specification (NAS), Defender 90s and 110s only, from 1992, a 182bhp fuel‑injected 3.9‑litre version of the Rover V8 was fitted, along with a four‑speed automatic transmission.

In 1998, the fuel‑injected 190bhp 4.0‑litre V8 from the second‑generation Range Rover was fitted to a limited run of 50th Anniversary Defender 90s, with a four‑speed automatic transmission.

5.0‑litre naturally aspirated 2018 Defender Works V8 became the first official V8‑powered Land Rover Defender to be introduced since 1998.

Other editions of the Land Rover Classic Defender V8 include the Islay, Trophy and Trophy II variants.

London UK –  Lotus today announced a bespoke service – Lotus Chapman Bespoke – following popular demand around the world.

The service will provide customers with the capability to customise their Lotus products, from custom badges and trims to complete one-off personalisation of an entire vehicle.

Initially launching in China from 25 April 2024, the bespoke service will then roll out around the world over the coming months.

Clive Chapman, son of Colin and Director of Classic Team Lotus, commented; “Together my parents shared an extraordinary adventure.  Their dynamic personalities created innovative designs for the drivers to enjoy. Now the drivers can enjoy creating their own innovations with Lotus Chapman Bespoke.”

The Lotus Chapman Bespoke name honours Lotus founders Colin & Hazel Chapman who started the business in 1948 in London, UK. A pioneering innovator, many of the designs, technologies and innovations seen in motor-racing today were first developed by Colin Chapman.

Lotus has always carried that rebellious Chapman spirit; a true originator, he ignored the status quo and was famous for carving his own path, in his own style.

Qingfeng Feng, CEO, Lotus Group commented; “The story of Lotus is the story of a bespoke carmaker. The first cars were hand-drawn and hand-built at home by Colin Chapman, and that spirit lives on in us today.”

Lotus cars today are driven by those who share that same spirit and Lotus Chapman Bespoke connects our founders with the drivers of today. Now you can finish your car in your way, the same way Chapman himself would have done. This is why Lotus Chapman Bespoke carries the name of our founders, Colin & Hazel Chapman, the highest accolade we could award.

With Bespoke, there are three levels of personalisation and customisation to choose from:

    1. Tailor-made: choose your own unique combination from within a broad palate of colours and designs, and finish with exclusive personal touches and details.

    2. Collection: choose from a selection of limited-edition designs, brought to life in partnership with partners, artists and likeminded luxury brands.

    3. One-off: As the name suggests, build a car as unique as you are.

Ben Payne, VP Design, Lotus Group, commented; “Many of our customers are looking for a bespoke experience; be that colour, texture, fabric, detail – and we are excited to see their individuality stamped on our cars around the world.”

Three levels of excellence, with almost unlimited combinations to choose from. Search Lotus Chapman Bespoke online or speak to your local Lotus Centre for more information.

  • New Apple Vision Pro app for Porsche 911 Spirit 70

New Apple Vision Pro app for Porsche 911 Spirit 70

For the launch of the third Heritage Design model, the “911 Spirit 70”, Porsche is offering a new app for the Apple Vision Pro. This allows fans and customers to immerse themselves in the 1970s. They can design their dream vehicle and customize the Porsche 911 Spirit 70 step by step.

“With the Porsche 911 Spirit 70 app for the Apple Vision Pro, we want to give our customers and fans a journey back to the 1970s. This decade was characterized by colors, materials, and many Porsche successes that continue to shape our heritage today,” says Boris Apenbrink, Director Exclusive Manufaktur Limited Series & Options. “With this app, our customers gain deep insights into the creation process of the iconic designs of the decade and can digitally customize their dream vehicle,” adds Lars Krämer, Manager of Innovations at Porsche.

In addition to showcasing Porsche’s heritage design strategy, the app offers inspiration for paint-to-sample options, decorative stripes, unique seating patterns and historic race numbers. More than ten popular Porsche vehicle colours from the 70s are visualised and enriched with detailed descriptions and historical references. Background information on historical decals and race numbers tells the emotional story of the team behind the “911 Spirit 70” and makes the user a real expert in customising his vehicle.

The app includes interactive tutorials that guide the user step by step through the individualization process. These tutorials are specifically designed to optimize the personalization experience and inspire both enthusiasts and seasoned Porsche connoisseurs. Thanks to the spatial computing capabilities of Apple Vision Pro, high-quality representations of curated colors and materials are projected onto a digital 3D vehicle model in real time.

At the end of the customization journey, the user has the option to further personalize their vehicle in the Car Configurator or to create an Apple Wallet Pass with detailed information.

    Info

The Porsche 911 Spirit 70 app will be available for free in the App Store for Apple Vision Pro, coinciding with the launch of the Porsche 911 Spirit 70.

  • Porsche 911 Spirit 70

    Porsche 911 Spirit 70

Exclusive Olive Neo colour, historically inspired decorative graphics and legendary Pasha pattern in the interior: Porsche presents the 911 Spirit 70 at the Shanghai Auto Show, a convertible limited to 1,500 units that embodies the essence of the 1970s and early 1980s.

Created as part of the Heritage Design strategy, this collector’s item is the third 911 model in which Porsche has revived an era with the help of iconographic design elements from earlier vehicles. The technical basis for the 911 Spirit 70 is the current 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet with efficient performance hybrid. In combination with the high-voltage system, the eTurbo and the electric motor in the new PDK, the newly developed 3.6-litre boxer engine achieves a system output of 398 kW (541 hp) and 610 Nm. The 911 Spirit 70 can be ordered immediately. It is expected to arrive at European dealerships from April 2025, with other markets to follow.

“The Heritage Design models occupy a special position within our product strategy from a design perspective,” says Michael Mauer, Vice President Style Porsche. “The limited-edition sports cars visualise what makes the Porsche brand so special. Every design of our vehicles ties in with our history – these vehicles go one step further. They show how we reinterpret historical design elements in a state-of-the-art sports car.”

“The limited-edition collector’s items are particularly desirable for our customers worldwide,” says Alexander Fabig, Vice President Individualisation and Classic. “The first two models in the Heritage Design strategy have brought back the lifestyle of past decades and generated a great deal of enthusiasm. We are delighted with this success and are now proud to present the third, highly exclusive model.”

The Heritage Design models emphasise the ‘lifestyle’ dimension, which stands for particularly emotional concepts within the Porsche product strategy. The first model in the series was the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition presented in 2020 in the style of the 1950s and early 1960s. With the 911 Sport Classic, Porsche presented the second collector’s item from the Heritage Design strategy in 2022. This small series, limited to 1,250 units, revived the style of the 1960s and early 1970s.

The new 911 Spirit 70 pays tribute to Porsche’s enhanced corporate strategy. The sports car manufacturer wants to further expand its customisation options: Porsche already offers more than 1,000 Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur options. Over the past five years, the average sales per vehicle with Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur options have doubled. In order to fulfil even more individual customer dreams in the future, the capacity of the Exclusive Manufaktur is to be significantly expanded in the future.

Porsche Design has created a high-quality chronograph exclusively for buyers of the latest collector’s item. With numerous details, it is visually reminiscent of the 911 Spirit 70. For example, the shiny black Pasha pattern on the dial is inspired by the seat centre panel of its motorised role model.

The Porsche Lifestyle Collection matching the 911 Spirit 70 allows you to rediscover the 1970s in style and authenticity. The range of very special collector’s items includes a collection of daywear, sportswear, lifestyle accessories and model vehicles.

Exterior: Special colour concept and badges in historic style

The designers and paint experts at Porsche created the colour Olive Neo especially for the 911 Spirit 70 – a rich, deep green. Bronzite forms an exciting contrast to this colour. The lower rear section, the front section and the Sport Classic wheels in ‘Fuchs’ design are painted in this grey-gold colour. The soft top is black, as is the windscreen frame, emphasising the unique visual presence of the 911 Spirit 70.

Three decorative stripes in black silk gloss run across the bonnet. This detail is reminiscent of the safety stickers from the 1970s: back then, sports drivers applied longitudinal stripes to the bodies of their fast cars so that the sports cars were easier to see in the rear-view mirror at high speeds on the motorway or racetrack. The stripes are continued tone-on-tone on the soft top. The side decorative graphics with Porsche lettering and round start number field (‘Lollipop’) in black silk gloss and individual start number are a nod to the brand’s sporting tradition.

An example of the contrast between tradition and innovation can be found in the centre of the front bonnet: The 911 Spirit 70 bears a Porsche crest there that is almost identical to the historic crest from 1963. There are gold-coloured “Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur” badges on the front wings. The Porsche Heritage badge sits on the grille of the boot lid. Its design is reminiscent of the badge on the Porsche 356, which was awarded in the 1950s when the 100,000-kilometre mark was reached. Other unusual details include the gold-coloured Porsche lettering and the model designation at the rear. The lettering gets its extraordinary brilliance from the galvanised gold-plated surface.

Interior: With Pasha pattern and special instrument cluster

The highlight of the interior is the iconic Pasha fabric pattern in black/olive neo. The graphic design of the fabric is reminiscent of a moving chequered flag. Different sized, cleverly arranged rectangles create a kind of movement in the pattern. Instead of jacquard velour as in the past, the 911 Spirit 70 combines a textile with flock yarns. This gives the fabric an even sportier character, an improved feel and more comfort, especially on longer journeys.

The centre panels of the 18-way sports seats Plus, the door mirrors and even the inside of the glove compartment are covered in the Pasha pattern. • Beautiful: quilting, fluting, perforations, embroidery and blind embossing showcase the skills of Bentley craft team
    • Sustainable: a natural product, created using low environmental impact processes
    • Enduring: many pre-war Bentleys still wear their original, patinated leather upholstery with pride

Crewe, England – Heritage Leather, first developed by Mulliner, Bentley’s in-house personal commissioning division, for the Continuation reincarnations of the Blower and Speed Six, can now be specified on Bentley’s latest models.  Supplied by Bridge of Weir, the Heritage Leather gives the interior of a modern Bentley the look and feel of one from the 1930s with a two-tone finish and haircell grain.  It is offered currently in two colours traditional for the period and identified in original records of historic Bentleys: Ox Blood Red,  and Parsons Napier Green.

To showcase this new tailoring option, Bentley commissioned for itself an example of the latest fourth generation Bentley Continental GT Mulliner to mirror the Factory Works Speed Six Continuation Series. Though separated by 95 years of evolution, if only two years of development, both cars are finished in the same Bedford Grey exterior paint, and  feature Heritage Leather upholstery in Ox Blood red.

During the development and testing of the Blower Continuation Series, the hide provided the best tactility and authentic manufacturing techniques for the development of Mulliner’s continuation series, delivering the same durability rating as found in today’s modern Bentley.

A select few colours, traditional for the period of the 1920’s and 1930’s were identified in original records of specifications (such as Vanden Plas) studied at the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu. These include, Ox Blood Red and Parsons Napier Green.

With many Cricklewood-era and pre-war Bentleys still sporting their original upholstery, the enduring qualities of leather make it a truly sustainable natural material. A Bentley’s upholstery doesn’t wear out; it wears in.

Staying faithful to the upholstery techniques of the 1920s and 1930s, the seats in the Factory Works Speed Six are fluted, while the door inners feature a simple embossed B emblem. In contrast, the Continental GT’s interior showcases the full range of skills offered by Mulliner, including quilted and embroidered seat uppers, diamond patterned perforations, contrast embroidery and piping.

In the era of the original Speed Six, leather upholstery was often treated with natural oils, waxes, or even varnishes to achieve a smooth, glossy surface.  Mulliner worked with its suppliers to replicate this higher sheen on the hide for the two matched Bentleys. Subtle variations of shade also help to create the visual impression of age-patinated leather.

Bridge of Weir have provided for the automotive industry for over a century, and produce the world’s lowest carbon leather thanks to their responsible sourcing, 100% traceability and innovative circular manufacturing process, which contributes to an independently verified Life Cycle Analysis score of 8kg CO2e/m2 on average, the lowest in the world published for leather.

Bentley Motors works closely with its suppliers to ensure that they adhere to rigorous environmental standards, including responsible water and energy use, waste management, and chemical control. The company’s craft teams treat this natural material with respect and the result of their work can be expected to last for decades, or perhaps even a century. As an upholstery material leather is sustainable, durable and above all beautiful – qualities it shares with every Bentley.

  • Lamborghini Polo Storico Celebrates Ten Year Anniversary

Lamborghini Polo Storico Celebrates Ten Year Anniversary

Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy – Automobili Lamborghini celebrates the tenth anniversary of Lamborghini Polo Storico, the department established in 2015 with the aim of preserving and enhancing the brand’s priceless historical heritage and cars. Preserving the company archives and ensuring the proper conservation of Lamborghini’s historic models, Polo Storico is responsible for vehicle restoration and certification, actively contributing to the long-term preservation of these cars. During its ten years of activity, the department has completed various significant projects, growing steadily and becoming an international benchmark for collectors and enthusiasts alike. Polo Storico oversees Lamborghini historic cars from the 350 GT to the latest versions of the Diablo, playing a crucial role as an authoritative source in defining the company’s historical identity. Like the rest of the company, Lamborghini Polo Storico also looks to the future, preserving past icons while preparing to welcome the models that will one day join its ranks. On the tenth anniversary of Polo Storico, Automobili Lamborghini is celebrating the department’s history and its most important projects and has organized a program of events around the world with customers, the media and enthusiasts.

“For us, Lamborghini Polo Storico represents a cornerstone of the company’s commitment to the world of heritage and tradition,” commented Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “Polo Storico is vital not only to the research carried out and the enrichment of our company archives, with the digitalization of over 30,000 historical documents, but also for its genuine commitment to the restoration and certification of the brand’s historic cars. With more than 40 restorations completed — each of which required thousands of hours of work — and over 200 certifications issued, Polo Storico plays a vital role in the preservation and enhancement of our automotive heritage.”

Polo Storico, inaugurated on 16 April 2015, started its activities with the centralization and digitalization of the company’s entire historical records, which up to then had been divided between different departments. Among the items cataloged were technical drawings, production sheets, type-approval documents, original materials, historical images, sales and administrative documents, and official company publications, contributing to the creation of a well-structured and authoritative historical archive. At the same time, a special technical unit was set up at the Sant’Agata Bolognese headquarters, where a specialist team started working on historic cars in the months immediately prior to the formal launch of the department.

Polo Storico restorations always maintain a clear objective: to return every car back to its original condition, in full respect of its historical, technical and aesthetic identity. Each project starts with an in-depth search of the archives and thousands of hours of skilled work, coordinated and supervised by the Polo Storico team, also in partnership with leading external suppliers. The restorations that have been made public form just a part of the department’s activities: many collectors choose not to disclose the work carried out on their cars. However, even just the projects shared are evidence of the vital role of Polo Storico. In 2016, the Miura SV #4846, the first project presented to the public by Lamborghini Polo Storico, was completely restored and presented at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, before going on to win Best in Class at Salon Privé. The following year the Miura SV #5030 was exhibited at Techno-Classica Essen, after being restored over a 20-month period, involving 2,000 hours of work and using exclusively original spare parts. Also in 2017, Polo Storico delivered the Miura P400 #3165 to Giampaolo Dallara, which had been restored over a period of 14 months involving 3,000 hours of work, to celebrate his 80th birthday.

Also among the first full restorations was the 350 GT #0121, one of the very first Lamborghini cars produced. The restoration involved 1,150 hours of work on the body and interior, and a further 780 hours for the mechanical and electrical checks. In 2018, the restoration of the Miura P400 #3264 was completed after ten months of work. The car was then displayed at the Polo Storico stand at Rétromobile in Paris. In the same year, Polo Storico concluded its work on the Miura S #4863, which won Best in Class and the most iconic car at Salon Privé in London. In 2019, a particularly important project was completed, involving the restoration of the Miura SV #3673, finished shortly before its debut at Rétromobile and showcased on the Polo Storico stand. An in-depth historical investigation enabled the complex history of the car to be reconstructed, and this was followed just a few months later by the Best in Class award at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Also in 2019, Polo Storico certified the Miura P400 #3586, officially identifying it as the model used in the original shooting of the film The Italian Job, solving a long-standing mystery using archival materials and eyewitness accounts.

One of the most recent restorations was of the Miura P400 S #4797, which belonged to the Italian singer Little Tony and one of only seven painted in Azzurro Mexico (light blue), presented at Villa d’Este in 2019. In 2020, at Rétromobile, Polo Storico presented one of few Miura SVJs produced, chassis #4860 built in 1973. A captivating historic car, it was the subject of careful conservation work aimed at preserving the original condition, with the complete overhaul of all the technical and mechanical components, while keeping even the smallest details intact.

But the project that best represents the department’s capabilities and expertise is the full reconstruction of the 1971 prototype Countach LP 500, destroyed in crash tests over 50 years ago. Completed in 2021 after over 25,000 hours of work, it was recreated from scratch starting only with the archive documents, historical photographs and firsthand accounts: an undertaking that perfectly embodies the spirit and mission of Polo Storico.

Another cornerstone of Polo Storico’s activities is the Certification of Authenticity service, which certifies the authenticity and conformity (or otherwise) of the historic cars relative to the original factory specifications. Through a rigorous process, an analysis is carried out of the mechanical components, interiors, paintwork, modifications, and work done subsequently to the activities performed by the company, comparing every detail with archival documentation. This procedure can require hundreds of hours of work, and concludes with a detailed technical report. In some cases, during these ten years of activity, Polo Storico has identified some cars that cannot be certified due to technical or historical discrepancies. Under these circumstances, the customer will receive a full report with a list of the nonconformities found, with no additional charge except for the logistics costs. This is a particular service by Lamborghini that confirms the primary objective of Polo Storico: to preserve Lamborghini’s historic cars and guarantee that every certification stands as a mark of authenticity, transparency, and accountability.

To support the processes of archive enrichment, certification and restoration, a committee was established comprising a group of former employees who played an operational role in the company’s history, known as the “Comitato dei Saggi” (Committee of the Wise). With firsthand experience in Lamborghini’s past operations, these former employees provide support to Polo Storico in verifying information; solving and clarifying technical challenges; and reconstructing data that is not always available in the official archives.

At the end of each process, Polo Storico forms another internal committee to approve the work. As well as its own team, this committee includes representatives from strategic departments such as the legal department, type-approval, research and development, aftersales, and the chairman’s office, responsible for signing off all certifications and restorations. This multidisciplinary team guarantees that every action is validated with the utmost accuracy and consistency.

Polo Storico’s activities, which are continuously expanding, sometimes involve the collaboration of key suppliers for highly specialized work. These suppliers are also selected in line with the department’s values, involving local businesses that are often historical partners of the company already operating at the time of the original production of the cars. In parallel, Lamborghini has invested in the expansion of its in-house skills: today, Polo Storico has access to advanced technologies and a team able to directly manage an increasing number of processes. Lamborghini’s Original Spare Parts department also plays a key role, constantly enriching its portfolio with parts that are no longer available by manufacturing new to the original specification, developed based on needs emerging from the restorations and work on historic cars.

Polo Storico’s activities also focus on enhancing the brand’s technical and cultural heritage. Alongside the restoration and certification work, the department is often the main player – and sometimes the direct organizer – of international events celebrating the history of Automobili Lamborghini. Some of the most significant events organized by Polo Storico itself include: the 2016 tour from Madrid to Lora del Rio in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Miura; the Lamborghini Marzal’s return to road on the occasion of the 2018 Grand Prix de Monaco Historique, with His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco at the wheel; the tour celebrating 50 years of the Espada and Islero (September 2018); the Espada Series 3 photographed on the iconic Abbey Road crosswalk and hosted at the Royal Automobile Club in London (October 2018); the 2019 “Lamborghini & Design” Concorso d’Eleganza organized in Portopiccolo, Trieste; and, more recently, the Lamborghini 60th anniversary tour in 2023 on the roads of Franciacorta, Alto Garda and Valpolicella.

To celebrate its tenth anniversary, Polo Storico has planned a calendar of international events taking place throughout 2025. The celebrations started in February in St. Moritz and will continue from 24 to 27 April with participation in the first edition of the Anantara Concorso d’Eleganza, organized in the heart of Rome and dedicated to Italian classic cars. In the summer, from August 16 to 18, Polo Storico will play a leading role at Pebble Beach in California, with an exclusive area inside Villa Lamborghini. During the year, Polo Storico will also attend official brand events, such as the Lamborghini Days in Germany and Japan, and will take part in a number of international classic car events, meeting with customers, collectors, and enthusiasts. The final event is planned for October, with participation in the Auto e Moto d’Epoca show in Bologna from 23 to 26 October, celebrating the history of Lamborghini and the department’s activities together with customers and enthusiasts from all over Europe.

“We want to celebrate this important anniversary together with our customers and collectors, highlighting the value of the work carried out by Polo Storico and the central role it plays today in preserving our heritage,” explained Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “Its contribution is set to grow even further: every Lamborghini falls within the remit of Polo Storico twenty years after the end of production. With the increase in production volumes and the high degree of customization of our cars, the amount of work required will become increasingly broader and more strategic. Polo Storico will play an ever more crucial role in preserving the authenticity, quality and memories of our brand.”

  • Porsche Celebrates 50 Years Since the 917 Strasse Version Took to the Road

Porsche Celebrates 50 Years Since the 917 Strasse Version Took to the Road

    [source: Porsche Cars North America]

On April 28, 1975 a one-off Porsche 917 race car left the Weissach development center. It headed not for a track – like every 917 before – but instead, and for the very first time, it took to public roads.

Atlanta. It was an audacious adventure driven by the passion of a private owner and the commitment of a small team within Porsche to fulfil the wishes of customers, no matter how outlandish the request. Fittingly, that first exploratory drive did not end after a prudent cruise around local roads, but when the car reached Paris – several hundred miles later. It was a feat that would go on to inspire many more adventures in the decades that would follow.

The car – 917 chassis 30 – which was originally raced, featured an array of changes that dominated endurance racing in the early 1970s. Some of the enhancements were mandated by the laws of the time, and others at the request of its owner – Italian businessman and Martine heir Gregorio Rossi di Montelera – known more simply as “Count Rossi”, a renowned powerboat racer, bobsledder and Porsche enthusiast.

Finished in Martini Silver, the car featured a set of rudimentary exhaust mufflers, additional mirrors, side indicators and even a horn. It carried the mandatory spare tire beneath its rear clamshell. Inside there were small concessions to comfort – the two seats (a requirement for endurance racers of this period) were re-finished in tan leather (commissioned from Hermes) with accompanying suede surfacers for the roof lining, doors and dashboard. The gear shifter retained the same wooden finish as the racers, and even kept the same drilled, lightweight key. The car originally wore an Alabama license plate obtained by Count Rossi.

Today the car is still enjoyed by its enthusiastic current owner on the open roads in the south of France where it resides – now registered in the U.K. and having undergone recent restoration work (albeit preserving its original paint and interior) to prepare it for its next half century of surprising other road users.

Importantly, as it’s descendent enjoys success on the track today, the spirit and desire within Porsche that allowed the creation of a 917 for the road all that time ago remains very much alive five decades on – prompting the question: what if?

“My love for the outdoors has been a driving force behind both my personal passions  and professional success. The inspiration for this commission came from a field of daisies on my favourite trail in the High Tatras mountains – a place I return to when I need to clear my thoughts.  I’m continuously amazed not only by the beauty but the resilience of this flower that seems to thrive in the face of nature’s challenges. I envisioned Black Badge Cullinan Daisy as a symbol of perseverance – balancing strength with serenity”.
Commissioning Client, Black Badge Cullinan Daisy

“This commission challenged us to explore how natural motifs can be translated through craft and materiality. From the delicately etched Blackwood to the daisy detail hidden inside the umbrellas, we told the client’s remarkable story through unexpected textures and an entirely new palette. Black Badge Cullinan Daisy is quietly confident, rich in symbolism, yet modern in execution. It also represents a different kind of Bespoke languagewhere emotion is captured through restrained and thoughtful contrasts.”
Martina Starke, General Manager, Bespoke Design, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars presents its latest Bespoke commission, Black Badge Cullinan Daisy – a striking one-of-one Black Badge Cullinan Series II reflecting the commissioning client’s love of hiking and the outdoors. Drawing inspiration from a field of daisies on the client’s favourite trail in the High Tatras mountains, Black Badge Cullinan Daisy represents resilience and perseverance – much like a daisy that thrives in a variety of conditions. Commissioned by an individual who built their success in the outdoor and adventure equipment sector, Black Badge Cullinan Daisy symbolises their path to success.

    EXTERIOR: BALANCING POTENCY AND RESILIENCE
The daisy flower appears as a Coachline motif, meticulously hand-painted to complement the single Coachline applied over the Powder Blue Exterior. The subtle colour palette provides a striking contrast to the darkened Black Badge Pantheon Grille, Spirit of Ecstasy and exterior brightwork.

    INTERIOR SUITE: ELEGANCE AND COMPLEXITY
Inside, the daisy motif adorns the front fascia and the waterfall section between the rear seats. The design is meticulously applied to the Blackwood surface using a sandblasting technique. To create the design, the wood is subjected to a precision blasting process in which a stream of fine mineral particles is directed at the veneer, which delicately etches away microscopic layers of the surface. The interplay of light and shadow across the sculpted surface creates a three-dimensional effect, adding visual interest to the finished piece.

The Blackwood veneers are complemented by a subtle three-colour interior palette. The main leather hue is Fleet Blue, which extends to the Rotary Controls and B and C pillars. It is complemented by Selby Grey and Black leathers, with Fleet Blue seat piping and Selby Grey contrast stitching and headrest monograms. The interior is completed with Bespoke Illuminated Treadplates with a daisy design.

BESPOKE UMBRELLAS: FLOWERS IN THE RAIN
The daisy motif also graces the inside of the Bespoke umbrellas concealed in Cullinan’s rear Coach Doors. The playful pattern can only be seen on the interior of the umbrellas, recalling the ambience of a daisy field in full bloom on a rainy day.

BESPOKE STARLIGHT HEADLINER: A WINDOW INTO THE HEAVENS
Black Badge Cullinan Daisy is fitted with a Bespoke Starlight Headliner, capturing four of the great constellations that dominate the night sky in northern latitudes: Ursa Major, also known as the Great Bear, the Plough, and the Big Dipper; Ursa Minor, which includes Polaris, or the North Star; Gemini, clearly distinguished by the bright stars, Castor and Pollux; and Taurus, ‘the Bull’, identified by the red giant Aldebaran and the Pleiades star cluster.

    RECREATION MODULE: ADVENTURES AWAIT
Black Badge Cullinan Daisy is completed with a Recreation Module – an automatically-deployable storage compartment mounted on the luggage compartment floor, designed to house the client’s favourite hiking equipment.
