Maserati Unveils ‘Fuoriserie By’ Hiroshi Fujiwara

    [source: Maserati]

Modena, Italy – Maserati is thrilled to introduce Fuoriserie By, a refined collection of cars curated by select tastemakers and friends of the Trident. The exclusive collection has been designed by Japanese street culture legend and friend of the Trident Hiroshi Fujiwara, aiming to inspire car lovers to express their own bespoke vision of the ultimate Italian luxury sports car.

Following a long-standing partnership with Japanese brand Fragment, Maserati unveils two contrasting versions of its super sports car MC20 Cielo, re-imagined by creative director Hiroshi Fujiwara under the umbrella of the Trident’s Fuoriserie personalization programme. These super sports cars are more than simple objects, they become tailor-made garments to be proudly worn along the streets of the world fusing Maserati’s style and Hiroshi Fuijwara’s character.

For the very first time, Maserati has replaced its iconic Trident emblem – proudly showcased on the MC20 Cielo’s tonneau cover – with Fragment’s double lightning bolt icon. Two editions of MC20 Cielo Fuoriserie by Hiroshi Fujiwara have been conceived, one in Nero Vulcano color with Fragment’s badge in matte black and one in Bianco Audace color with Fragment’s badge in matte white. Inside, it features 6-way power sport seats in black full leather with white stitching. The unmistakable Trident is embroidered on the headrests, and the sport steering wheel is in black Alcantara with white stitching. An exclusive metal plate celebrating the collaboration between Maserati and Hiroshi Fujiwara is applied between the two headrests.

The MC20 Cielo is a one-of-a-kind car that can deliver the performance of a true super sports car, together with a holistic and immersive driving pleasure the like of which has never been seen before. Produced at the historic plant in Modena, MC20 Cielo is equipped with the powerful F1-derived V6 Nettuno engine, and it offers a perfect mix of sportiness and luxury, thanks to an innovative and unique retractable smart glass roof, which can instantly be transformed from clear to opaque at the touch of a button.

Fuoriserie means ‘out of the ordinary’ in Italian, and our Trident’s customization program is conceived to create extraordinary experiences for our clients.  Our wish here is for them to express their personality and passion by creating their very own Maserati. Just like Hiroshi, everyone can choose from a wide range of personalization features from our Fuoriserie collections or take more individual journeys to design true one-of-a-kind rolling sculptures,” said Klaus Busse, Head of Design of Maserati.

Both Fuoriserie By Hiroshi Fujiwara configurations are now available upon request on the MC20 Cielo super sports car, combining performance, sportiness and luxury to its racing soul.

    Maserati S.p.A.
Maserati produces a complete range of unique cars, immediately recognizable for their extraordinary personality. Thanks to their style, technology, and innately exclusive character, they delight the most discerning, demanding tastes and have always been a benchmark for the global automotive industry. A tradition of successful cars, each of them redefining what makes an Italian sports car in terms of design, performance, comfort, elegance, and safety, currently available in more than 70 markets internationally. Maserati line-up includes the Grecale, the “everyday exceptional” SUV, the GranTurismo, the iconic Italian grand tourer, and the GranCabrio, the new convertible of the Trident; all models characterized by the use of the highest quality materials and excellent technical solutions. A range equipped with 4-cylinder hybrid powertrains – available for Grecale – and V6 petrol, with rear-wheel and four-wheel drive, embodying the performance DNA of the Trident brand. The top of the range is made up of the MC20 super sports car and the MC20 Cielo spyder, powered by the ground-breaking 100% Maserati Nettuno V6 engine, which incorporates F1-derived technologies into the power unit of a standard production car for the first time. The GranTurismo is available with both the high-performance V6 petrol engine, derived from the Nettuno, and a 100% electric version: the GranTurismo Folgore, the first car in the Modena-based brand’s history to adopt this solution. Today the full-electric range includes also the Grecale Folgore, Maserati’s first full-electric SUV, and the latest addition, GranCabrio Folgore. By 2025, all Maserati models will also be available in a full-electric version, and the entire Maserati range will run on electricity alone by 2028.

    Why we love it:

While Gulf Blue seems to get a ton of play due to its deep roots in Porsche’s racing history, Paint to Sample Gulf Orange, shown here on a 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4, isn’t so common. On the surface, it makes sense- the subtlety of Gulf Blue is not found here. But is a GT variant Porsche about blending in? In the eyes of Tailored Driver, not for a moment. If you agree, you can acquire this Cayman GT4 for just under $100k.

  • Lewis Hamilton Looking Tailored on First Day at Scuderia Ferrari

Lewis Hamilton Looking Tailored on First Day at Scuderia Ferrari

Monday marked the first day of a new chapter for Formula 1’s seven-time world champion driver, Lewis Hamilton. Though word of Lewis’ movement to Maranello is old news at this point, his arrival at Ferrari’s headquarters at Via Enzo Ferrari 27 is definitely noteworthy. And, the official photo from Scuderia Ferrari HP shows a finely tailored Lewis standing next to an equally fine Ferrari F40 that is reportedly Hamilton’s favorite Ferrari. Nice flex.

At Ferrari, the “First Day” practice for new drivers is a bit of a tradition, seeing Hamilton head to the Fiorano house and pit garage, Enzo Ferrari’s historic office, a meeting with team management and Piero Ferrari, not to mention all the departments of the team. Technical meetings and briefings begin tomorrow. Undoubtedly, Ferrari is a marque steeped in heritage, and these traditions are part of the experience.

There are some days that you know you’ll remember forever and today, my first as a Scuderia Ferrari HP driver, is one of those days. I’ve been lucky enough to have achieved things in my career I never thought possible, but part of me has always held on to that dream of racing in red. I couldn’t be happier to realise that dream today,” says Hamilton. “Today we start a new chapter in the history of this iconic team, and I can’t wait to see what story we will write together.

Ultimately, we’re curious if Hamilton follows another Ferrari tradition. Last week we reported on a very special car that was the first company car for the only other seven-time F1 champion Michael Schumacher. Ahead of Schumacher’s first season with Ferrari, he’d ordered a very special 355 GTS tailored to his specifications. RM Sotheby’s currently is planning to sell the car in the very near future (MORE HERE).

So, will Lewis Hamilton spec his own tailored Ferrari company car? We know outgoing Ferrari F1 driver Carolos Sainz did, and we’re eager to see what Sir Lewis dreams up.

  • Market Find: Singer Blueberry Commission 911 Targa at Broad Arrow

Market Find: Singer Blueberry Commission 911 Targa at Broad Arrow

What: 1991 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Targa “Blueberry” Reimagined by Singer
    Color: Blue Blood (unknown)
    Chassis #: WP0BB2963MS440455
Mileage: 49 miles (at time of listing) since restoration
    Estimated Price: Inquire
    CarFax: N/A
    Window Sticker: N/A
    Location: Undisclosed Location, USA
    Listing: Link

    Why we love it:

You don’t see a lot of Targas in the 911 world, and that goes for 911s reimagined by Singer as well. Yes, they do happen and make a compelling case for open-top motoring without the chassis flex of a full-blown roadster. When they’ve been reimagined as a fully-blown Singer Commission, that case becomes even more compelling.

If chassis flex is a concern, it’s also worth sharing that before reimagining a Targa shell, the team at Singer seam weld the chassis for added rigidity.

This car, known simply as “Blueberry”, is painted a color known as Blue Blood, with Deep Orange on the brake rotors, Carrera stripes and other accent details. Inside, the cockpit was specified with Orange and Dark Navy leather with carbon bucket seats and custom details throughout the interior. Its 4.0-liter flat six was specced with RS+ cams and titanium exhaust, the suspension from Öhlins and the brakes from Brembo.

The car is available through private sales at Broad Arrow. Check it out via the link above.

  • Color Check: Audi exclusive RS e-tron GT in Azure Purple Pearl

Color Check: Audi exclusive RS e-tron GT in Azure Purple Pearl

The Audi Forum Neckarsulm is home base for Audi exclusive, boasting a large showroom of some of the latest and craziest capabilities of Audi’s in-house tailor. In as much, the Audi Deutschland Facebook Page is generally on the spot to share a brief gallery of the more noteworthy entries to this very special showroom. This month, it’s the latest RS e-tron GT performance with striking Azure Purple Pearl (azurepurpleperleffekt; metallic; 8Q6; Audi).

Azure Purple isn’t a common purple from Audi, not like Merlin Purple or Velvet Purple that we tend to see a lot more often. Here, it’s paired the Bicolor Audi exclusive design package interior in black and Calendula Yellow.

Opposites on the color spectrum, purple and yellow are always a striking combination. The pairing is a bold statement, and one that looks particularly good when combined with the RS e-tron GT performance’s optional forged carbon fiber trim on the exterior.

It looks like the Facebook post in question isn’t set up for embedding and sharing. We’ve added each of the photos below. Also find them at Audi Deutschland’s Facebook Page and make sure to give them a follow.

EU Market Find: Lancia Delta Integrale Evo II Bianco Perlato

What: 1994 Lancia Delta Integrale Bianco Perlato
Color: Bianco Perla (biancoperla; metallic uni; 271; Lancia)
    VIN: Unknown
    Mileage: 51,000 km, 31,689 miles
    Price: €150,000
    CarFax: N/A
    Window Sticker: N/A
Location: Private Party Sale, Taranto, Italy
    Sales listing: Link

    Why we love it:

The Delta Integrale holds a special place in the hearts of auto enthusiasts as a rally homologation special. By mainstream measure, a 5-door hatchback is not the expected stuff of legends, but consider the hardware and engineering that goes into making such an economy car into a rally legend with six-consecutive WRC championships from 1987-1992 and the logic begins to make sense. Also… box flares.

Seriously though, despite a less-than-optimum driving and steering wheel position, the Lancia Delta Integrale has built a cult-like following for these rally-bred reasons. Top of the heap is the Delta Integrale Evoluzione II. Now throw in limited edition with series production of just 365 and the collectibility factor grows even more.

Over its time in production, Lancia built several special edition models – Martini 6, Verde York, Blu Lagos, Giallo Ginestra and, finally, the Bianco Perlato you see here. Painted Bianco Perla (pearl white) over dark blue leather, it is a color combination dripping in 1990s fashion.

    Window Sticker: N/A
    Location: Audi of Richfield, MN
    Dealer listing: Link

    Why we love it:

At first, our minds played tricks on us. Audi of Richfield, Minnesota bills this Tailored Driver as “District Green Metallic”, and we’ll admit it had us briefly fooled. District is much darker, but in some lights it can pop so we assumed this was more a case of poor lighting and editing as opposed to mistaken identity. It made quite a bit of sense then, when friend of the site Topher actually confirmed this SQ7 as Oak Green. Oak is a longtime favorite and a frequent flyer around here, so we’ll let the images speak for themselves rather than to wax poetic.

    Price: $459,992
    CarFax: Link
    Window Sticker: N/A
Location: Porsche North Houston, Houston, TX
    Dealer listing: Link

    Why we love it:

There are so many reasons we love this Certified Pre-Owned 911 GT3 RS in the used car inventory over at Porsche North Houston. For starters, it had us at Weissach Package 911 GT3 RS. We also seriously appreciate that the first owner didn’t just buy it to flip it, loging over 4,000 miles on the odometer before trading it in on whatever is next.

Still, we didn’t even get to the Paint to Sample decisions made on this specification. First, it’s Meissen Blue, a pastel or powder blue hue that dates back to Porsche 356s of the 1950s. In this case, the original owner also chose dark blue graphics on the bodywork and color-matched alloy wheels – both of these decisions being choices we can seriously get behind.

  • Renault Urges UK Car Buyers to Fight the Urge to Go Grey

Renault Urges UK Car Buyers to Fight the Urge to Go Grey

Neither a North American operating brand nor a marque with much in the way of a factory tailoring program, we normally don’t cover news by Renault. However, in this case we feel the need to hat tip their UK press department. Pushing color in an increasingly grey world of new cars should always be celebrated.

    Begin press release:

Brighten up ‘Grey UK’! Renault urges Britain’s car buyers to embrace the joie de vivre and put grey in the shade by making yellow and green 2025’s must-have colours

    • 69% of Brits claim colour has a positive impact on their mood
    • But grey remains the most popular car colour choice in 2024 – for seventh year in a row
    • Car maker Renault aims to bring joy to the roads with the introduction of the eye-catching Renault 5 in Pop Yellow! and Pop Green!
    • One-in-five (20%) of motorists are already playing the ‘Yellow Car’ game
    • All-new electric supermini – Top Gear’s Car of the Year, Best Car of the Year and The Car of the Year – is available to order now, priced from £22,995

    [source: Renault, UK]

Car buyers are being urged to add a dash of colour to Britain’s streets this January after it was revealed that grey was the most popular new car colour for a seventh year in a row in 2024.

The call for the new car buying public to be brighter and bolder in their car colour choices, and brighten up ‘Grey UK’, comes after a survey by car maker Renault* revealed that:

    • 69% of Brits claim colour has a positive impact on their mood
    • More than two-fifths (43%) of Brits associate bright colours with happiness
    • The words most associated with bright colours according to respondents include happiness (43%), bold (35%) and joy (34%)
    • A fifth (20%) of Brits say seeing a brightly coloured car on the road makes them smile
    • 1 in 7 (14%) respondents think the drivers of a brightly coloured car must have a fun personality

The 2024 car colour data, complied by industry body the Society for Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), revealed that grey had topped the new car colour chart for an incredible seventh year in a row, confirming the majority of Brits prefer to stick to a monochrome colour when it comes to choosing their car.

But in a bid to break the greyscale’s stranglehold, the Renault 5 was put on sale last week, headlined by two eye-catching colour options, Yellow Pop! and Green Pop!

“Britons are famously conservative when it comes to choosing car colours, but with the launch of Renault 5 with the option of our two Pop! colours we plan to bring some joie de vivre to the UK’s roads, with our research showing that by adding some colour we will also bring joy and positivity to people,” said Adam Wood, Managing Director of Renault UK.

The all-electric R5 is a modern reimagining of the legendary original, which was produced between 1972 and 1985, with 5.5 million cars sold globally. Thanks to its combination of eye-catching design, latest technology and a keen price starting from just £22,995 it was recently voted Top Gear Car of the Year, Best Car of the Year and – just last week – Car of the Year 2025, judged by a jury of 60 leading automotive journalists from across 23 European countries.

Adding another dimension to the fun a brightly coloured car can bring to the public roads, across its four-year journey from concept car through to production car, R5 has been presented in Pop Yellow!, prompting many to eagerly anticipate the potential for the famous ‘Yellow Car’ game – which has its roots in the rapeseed oil trade from more than 400 years ago – to ramp up once cars start hitting the UK roads from April.

Renault’s survey also revealed that one in five (20%) of people play the game on a road trip, suggesting that the colour can be a great source of fun for other road users as well as the owner. Despite this, until now almost two-thirds (65%) of Brits say they have never owned a yellow car.

The Renault 5 is available to order now (and is also available in Artic White, Diamond Black and Midnight Blue for those preferring a more traditional colour palette), with more details available at Renault.co.uk.

*The research for Renault 5 was carried out online by Opinion Matters throughout 31.12.2024-02.01.2025 amongst a panel resulting in 2,000 UK adults (18+) responding. All research conducted adheres to the MRS Codes of Conduct (2010) in the UK and ICC/ESOMAR World Research Guidelines.
