Building on the 750S introduced in 2023 as a replacement for the award-winning 720S, the 2025 model year specification of McLaren’s benchmark-beating supercar offers enhanced optional specification and new levels of colorful visual personalization, including new content packs created by McLaren Special Operations (MSO).

The new MSO Contrast Packs provide the customer with the opportunity to further enhance their 750S with the trademark craftsmanship of MSO, McLaren’s bespoke personalization division. MSO’s dedication to creating the most alluring and unique paint colors – unparalleled in the automotive industry – paired with expert design and the world-class execution of incredible projects such as the remarkable 750S with 3-7-59 Theme, inspires a new range of options.

12 pre-configured themes for the MSO Contrast Packs are available, while other combinations can be explored upon request. The packs are available at time of purchase and within the standard retailer ordering process.

MSO Contrast Pack 1 bundles a selection of MSO Bespoke paints not available as regular colors (Volcano Red, Volcano Orange, Anniversary Orange, Solar Yellow, Napier Green, XP Green, Tokyo Pearl, Viola Viola, Dove Grey, Soho Grey, Tarmac Black, Alaskan Diamond White) with a Bespoke paint for the brake calipers and a unique pinstripe effect on the door mirror caps (matching or contrasting colors for calipers and pinstripe, depending on body paint color selected).

Customers wanting even more MSO content can choose Contrast Pack 2, which features the exterior features of Pack 1 in combination with bespoke interior treatments. These include full Alcantara interior upholstery in Carbon Black and colorful interior accents and MSO motif headrests, complementing or contrasting with the MSO paint color selected.

The range of regular options on 750S extends for the 2025 model year to include Stealth badging, which comprises black McLaren badges front and rear as well as a black McLaren Speedmark on each wheel center cap. Body Color Carbon Fibre Front Fenders with Gloss Visual Carbon Fibre Louvres are also new to the options list, now available separately as a line-fit choice to the combined option of Body Color Carbon Fibre Fenders with Body Color Louvres.

The Stop/Start button on the 750S changes to Papaya orange for 2025 model year cars. Papaya is McLaren Racing’s traditional color, seen first in the M6A Can-Am racer in 1967 and adopted by the McLaren Formula 1 team – then competing under the Bruce McLaren Motor Racing banner – during the 1968 championship.

“In its first year on sale the 750S has been a huge success. The car’s stellar reception with both the media who have driven it and with customers has exceeded all expectations, and the Model Year enhancements for 750S with new options from McLaren Special Operations ensure it remains a benchmark defining supercar with exclusivity and remarkable craftsmanship. It is a core part of our line-up with new Artura Spider and coupe, and the new GTS; a strengthened McLaren line-up that is more thrilling than ever.”
George Biggs, Chief Sales & Marketing Officer, McLaren Automotive

2025 model year 750S, the new Artura Spider and coupe and the new McLaren GTS are available to order now at one of over 100 locations in McLaren’s global retailer network, spanning 40 markets. Customers desiring further bespoke personalization for their new order can also explore the possibility of a virtual spec session with McLaren Special Operations by contacting their retailer.

    About McLaren Automotive:
McLaren Automotive is a producer of ultra high-performance, lightweight supercars. Launched in 2010, the company is now the largest part of the McLaren Group.

Headquartered at the McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) in Woking, Surrey, England, McLaren Automotive is driven by the challenge of creating the world’s most exhilarating, engaging and benchmark setting vehicles. Leveraging the McLaren name’s 60-year history of authentic, racing performance, it has delivered some of the most spectacular supercars ever made.

The company’s product portfolio of GTS, supercar, Motorsport and Ultimate models are retailed in over 40 markets around the world. Its cars are assembled by hand at the McLaren Production Centre (MPC), based on the same campus as MTC in Woking.

McLaren is a pioneer that continuously pushes the boundaries. In 1981, it introduced lightweight and strong carbon fibre chassis technology into Formula 1 with the McLaren MP4/1.

Then in 1993 it designed and built the legendary McLaren F1 road car. Built around a carbon fibre chassis, it established McLaren’s supercar DNA, realized for the 21st century in 2011 with the introduction of the McLaren 12C – McLaren Automotive’s first production car.

McLaren was the first to deliver a hybrid hypercar, the McLaren P1™, in 2013. Launching the Ultimate Series of vehicles, P1™ was followed by the McLaren Senna in 2018 and its track-only GTR derivative followed a year later. 2019 also saw the introduction of the Speedtail hybrid hyper-GT. Its most recent Ultimate model, Elva, is the lightest McLaren road car ever.

McLaren’s LT models represent the ultimate expression of track performance in series production supercars. The name stems from the ‘Longtail’ version of the F1 GTR, introduced in 1997, and was incorporated into McLaren Automotive nomenclature in 2015 with the arrival of the McLaren 650S-based 675LT coupe and Spider. In 2018, the LT legend continued with the McLaren 570S-based 600LT. The latest chapter in the LT story was written in 2020 and 2021, with the introduction of the 765LT coupe and Spider.

Also in 2021, the company unveiled its all-new high-performance hybrid supercar, the McLaren Artura. The Artura is the first McLaren to benefit from the McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture (MCLA). The MCLA is designed, developed and manufactured at the McLaren Composites Technology Centre in the Sheffield region of England using world-first processes and will spearhead the brand’s electrified future.

2022 saw McLaren announce the Solus GT, a single-seat, closed-cockpit track car which brought to life a futuristic concept that was originally created for virtual gaming.

In 2023, McLaren unveiled its lightest and most powerful series-production supercar, the 750S – a thorough development of the award-winning 720S supercar. McLaren also introduced the new GTS, replacing the McLaren GT.

The McLaren Artura Spider was revealed in early 2024 as the brand’s first high-performance hybrid convertible. Its introduction was part of a major model year uplift for the Artura nameplate, and meant McLaren’s series-production line-up of GTS, new Artura and 750S had been introduced within 12 months of each other.

McLaren Automotive also chooses to partner with like-minded, world-leading companies and organizations who push the boundaries in their respective fields. These include Ashurst, Bowers & Wilkins, Dynisma, Gulf, Monroe, Pirelli, Plan International, Richard Mille and Tumi.

    About McLaren Group:
The McLaren Group is a global leader in high-performance supercar production and elite motorsports.

Founded in 1963 by racer, engineer and entrepreneur Bruce McLaren, the Group is formed of McLaren Automotive, which hand-builds lightweight supercars and races them in global series, including the World Endurance Championship; and a majority stake in McLaren Racing which competes in the Formula 1 World Championship, INDYCAR series, Formula E, Extreme E and F1 Academy.

First Audi exclusive Pics for Updated RS 3 Sedan & Sportback

Whenever Audi officially reveals a new model, Audi Deutschland’s typically adds more content on its consumer website. At the every least, the official model website is made live, and sometimes the option-specific configurator is as well.

Clicking over there, we found model-specific pages for the RS 3 Sportback and RS 3 Sedan. There’s no configurator tool just yet, but there are plenty of marketing photos including two depictions of the cars in Audi exclusive paint.

In the case of the RS 3 sedan, it’s Merlin Purple (merlin purple; pearl effect; 4B / LZ3W / Z3W; Audi). And in the case of the RS 3 Sportback it’s Arrow Grey.

We’ll keep an eye out for whenever the configuration tool goes live, but for now enjoy these pics.

Market Find: Audi exclusive Nogaro Blue S5 coupe

Understood by many to be THE quintessential Audi color, Nogaro Blue Pearl Effect (nogaroblau; pearl effect UNI; Z5M; Audi) won over the hearts and minds of many more than 20 years ago. So much so, that it’s not terribly uncommon to see an Audi exclusive build in this color even if you’re not specifically looking for one.

Contrasted by the subdued black leather with diamond pattern deviated stitching and carbon fiber trim, this Audi exclusive S5 is a tasteful build all around.

This Audi exclusive Nogaro Blue S5 is currently for sale at Napelton’s Volkswagen of Orlando for $35,900. See more details about this Tailored Driver, here.

  • Market Find: Paint to Sample Slate Grey 911 Turbo S

Market Find: Paint to Sample Slate Grey 911 Turbo S

Slate Grey first popped on my radar when a former employer ordered a then-new 2015 Porsche 991 Turbo S in “the Steve McQueen color.” Variants of Grey were fairly hot back in 2015 thanks to Lamborghini’s Grigio Telesto and Audi’s Nardo Grey, and McQueen’s Slate Grey 930 was being prepped for auction in Monterey, so the choice was timely.

Positioned firmly on the ‘subtle’ side of the Tailored spectrum, Slate Grey proves itself to be fairly dynamic in the right lighting. For it’s future owner, we recommend heading straight to Mulholland where the color, and the connection to McQueen himself can be brought full circle.

This PTS Slate Grey 991 Turbo S is currently offered on AutoTrader for $174,900. Check out the full listing, here.

New Mercedes-Maybach SL Monogram Series, for the Ultimate Open-Air Experience

    • Two curated design concepts “Red Ambience” and “White Ambience” at market launch
    • Chrome fin and upright star on the bonnet as well as aerodynamic scoop behind the seats redefine proportions
    • Maybach pattern forms a stylish design element linking exterior and interior
    • The highest level of driving and acoustic comfort

    [source: Mercedes-Benz]

Stuttgart/Pebble Beach.  The Mercedes‑Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series (provisional figures, combined energy consumption: 13.7 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 312 g/km; CO2 class: G)[1] is the sportiest model in the Maybach brand’s history. Also new is the uniquely cohesive combination of colours and materials for the exterior and interior, with the Maybach pattern as a linking design element. These special accents appear throughout, from front to rear, inside and out. There will be two curated design concepts for the open-top two-seater at market launch: The Mercedes‑Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series Red Ambience is characterised by a new two-tone paint finish of obsidian black metallic over MANUFAKTUR garnet red metallic. In the Mercedes‑Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series White Ambience, obsidian black metallic contrasts with MANUFAKTUR opalite white magno. The exceptionally brilliant red and the elegant white both embody sensuality, beauty and lightness. They perfectly express the philosophy and driving experience of the new model. Other exterior colours are possible upon specific customer request. The interior features sustainably tanned, crystal white MANUFAKTUR Exclusive nappa leather and trim parts in gleaming silver chrome. Market rollout starts in Europe in spring 2025, with other markets to follow.

“Our customers love something special. The Mercedes‑Maybach SL Monogram Series adds a sporty two-seater to our model family for the ultimate open-air pleasure. It combines a dynamic driving experience with everything that characterises a Mercedes-Maybach: excellent craftsmanship, exquisite design details and fine materials.” – Daniel Lescow, Head of Mercedes-Maybach, Mercedes-Benz Group AG

Iconic design refined with exclusive Maybach styling elements and double scoop
In keeping with the brand philosophy, the Mercedes-Maybach SL offers a holistic sensory experience. The contours of the brand-specific, chrome-finished radiator grille are illuminated, as is the finely integrated MAYBACH lettering. The distinctive bonnet bears an upright Mercedes star and a chromed fin running front to rear along its centre. To further enhance the exclusivity, the obsidian black bonnet is available upon request with the Maybach pattern incorporated in graphite grey uni. This process is very complex and is partly done by hand. First, the bonnet receives a base coat, which is then sanded by hand. The Maybach pattern is then printed onto it. Each part of the process is technically sophisticated and must be executed with the utmost precision. Next, the bonnet is coated with clear matte lacquer, sanded by hand and finally finished with a further coat of clear matte lacquer.

The inside of the headlights is finished with high-quality accenting in rose gold. The dedicated front skirt emphasises the vehicle’s width with horizontal air intakes. The windscreen frame is finished in gleaming chrome. A further chrome insert graces the sill cladding. The Mercedes‑Maybach SL runs on 21-inch forged wheels in 5-hole design or multi-spoke design.

The extensively insulated acoustic soft top consists of light black fabric, with the Maybach pattern subtly incorporated in anthracite. The rear is characterised by rear lights with the Maybach signet, a brand-specific rear skirt with chrome trim, a dedicated diffuser design and tailpipe trims with a signature horizontal bar. Behind the seats, an aerodynamically designed double scoop reinforces the individual look. Together with the chrome fin on the bonnet, it gives the two-seater particularly elegant and sporty proportions when viewed from the side, especially with the top down.

Interior features Maybach-specific equipment and radiant, crystal white leather
Inside, sustainably tanned, crystal white nappa leather creates an exceptionally exquisite ambience. It features on the door panels, the centre console and on the brand’s signature comfort seats. The seat upholstery has a new floral design. The space behind the seats is also finished in white leather. The galvanised seat backrests and silver chrome trim provide a striking contrast.

The fully digital instrument display and the electrically adjustable centre display incorporate the Maybach-specific start-up animations and display styles. Further brand hallmarks are the steering wheel, the stainless-steel pedals and the stainless-steel door sill trims.

High level of driving and acoustic comfort combined with superior eight-cylinder driving experience
The highest standards also apply to driving and acoustic comfort. Comprehensive measures guarantee a quiet and comfortable, typically Maybach, driving experience. These include a noise-optimised exhaust system, an extensive insulation and absorption package as well as a comfort-oriented suspension set-up and soft engine mounts. The combination of a 4.0-litre biturbo engine with 430 kW (585 hp) and smooth-shifting 9G‑TRONIC automatic transmission with adapted accelerator pedal characteristics ensures the supremely dynamic driving pleasure expected of a Maybach. The fully variable 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive offers high traction even in slippery road conditions, thus increasing driving safety. The standard-fit rear-axle steering combines agility and stability for a manoeuvrable and safe driving experience.

Exclusive collection from Maybach Icons of Luxury
As befitting the new Mercedes‑Maybach SL Monogram Series, Maybach Icons of Luxury will offer a curated collection in boutiques and the online store from market launch. This includes a leather jacket, sneakers, a scarf, a tote bag and a dog bag. Their design is inspired by the materials and colours of the open-top two-seater.

  • Event Report: 2024 Monterey Jet Center Auction by Broad Arrow

Event Report: 2024 Monterey Jet Center Auction by Broad Arrow

Is it a show within a show? Maybe if you’re not holding a buyer placard. The Broad Arrow Monterey Jet Center Auction isn’t just a gathering of super exotic and classic cars set for sale during Monterey Car Week, it’s also a significant portion of the Hagerty Motorlux event.

Hagerty formed Broad Arrow not long ago, with the startup auction firm’s presence now a fixture at most any large Hagerty owned and operated event. Motorlux is a key part of that, while Monterey Car Week is the event week you can’t miss if you’re anybody in the premium or luxury car space. New for 2024, Broad Arrow debuted a runway-style auction block in order to freshen up the model of a car auction like this.

Given the amount of money and discerning aficionados present at this time, the Jet Center Auction in particular tends to be ripe with special and unique cars. Exacting specifications are to be expected, which is fine by us.

We’ve been covering a lot of the cars planned for sale at this event already in our Market Finds series, cars you can find by checking out our Broad Arrow Monterey Jet Center Auction 2024 coverage or our 2024 Monterey Car Week coverage.

This two-day auction amassed a sales total of $71.5 million with 85% of cars sold. Also interesting, their team saw large growth in attendance, including 42% of those registering to bid being first-timers.

Watch the site for a full gallery and coverage from Motorlux as well. In the meantime, here are some detailed shots from on site of some of our favorite Broad Arrow cars we were watching heading into Monterey.

  • Market Find: Audi exclusive Goodwood Green RS 7

Market Find: Audi exclusive Goodwood Green RS 7

Some variation of “I’d take the fast one, in some shade of green” is a common utterance around our office, so to say this fits the bill would be an understatement. Offered currently on Bring a Trailer, this 2016 Audi RS 7 was Tailored in Audi exclusive Goodwood Green (goodwoodgrün; pearl effect UNI; Z6X; Audi), a color which Audi has tried their best to make ‘stick’ with limited take-rate in each instance. We’ll blame the dealers, because to us it’s damn near perfect.

In fact, the pairing of Audi exclusive Goodwood Green over Silver Valcona leather with the slightly deviated Rock Grey stitching is so striking, it seems the owner enjoyed looking at it more than they enjoyed using it. Just 16,000 miles has been covered since this RS 7 was delivered in 2016, which is a real shame.

Your chance to right this wrong is just days away however, as this Audi exclusive Goodwood Green RS 7 will go to a new owner when the Bring a Trailer auction closes later this week. Follow the auction live, here.

  • Market Find: Audi exclusive Ara Blue S4

Market Find: Audi exclusive Ara Blue S4

Audi has long been quite good at creating an attractive blue, and Ara blue is no exception. Falling sometime between when Sprint blue fell out of series favor, and the darker Ultra blue which currently has Audi’s spotlight shone upon it, Ara blue was a late teens darling that gained notoriety on the Audi S3, TTRS, and RS3 of the day. As such, it also raised the eyebrows of more than a few Tailored Drivers ordering then-new Audi models for their own pleasure.

This 2018 Audi S4 in Prestige trim is squarely within the “enthusiast spec” category, featuring the aforementioned Audi exclusive Ara blue paint, Black Optics package, and Rotor Gray partial leather seats with Alcantara inserts and door cards. While admittedly a bit of a sweaty proposition in the warmer climates, we’d say it’s a tasteful package for Minnesota where the car currently is offered for sale.

At time of writing, this Audi exclusive Ara Blue S4 is offered by its owner for $38,200. More images and details can be found on AutoTrader.

  • Kalmar Reveals 9X9 at The Quail, Monterey Car Week

Kalmar Reveals 9X9 at The Quail, Monterey Car Week

MONTEREY, CALIFORNIA (August 16, 2024) – Inspired by creating tributes to the greatest cars the world has ever seen, modern-day coachbuilder Kalmar Automotive presents the global debut of the Kalmar 9X9, daring to call it the “world’s first retro hypercar”. Kalmar Automotive calls their approach “Automotive haute couture”, which will be on full display with the world premiere of the Kalmar 9X9 alongside the Nordic company’s U.S. introduction of the Kalmar 7-97 “C1”, Kalmar’s pioneering project. Both the 9X9 and 7-97 will introduce many enthusiasts to how Kalmar Automotive delivers tip of the spear innovation and performance joined with classic styling. Kalmar Automotive’s take on modern coachbuilding means each conversion is completely unique to the client who will be involved throughout the entire design process.

A company founded by true car lovers with racing heritage driven by their Nordic traditions, the Kalmar Automotive 9X9 and 7-97 premiere on Friday, August 16th at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering and will be hosted by company Founder Jan Kalmar and exclusive U.S. dealer Bruce Canepa of the Canepa Group, Inc. With vehicles demanding to be seen by the naked eye in order to fully understand the exacting level of detail and quality, Kalmar Automotive creates one-of-a-kind conversions made to be driven and enjoyed for decades to come with the best of the analog past made reality by the digital present.

Featuring technologies usually only present in large OEM auto manufacturers, the Kalmar Automotive 9X9 shown in Monterey features a well-proven 3.8L turbo engine producing 930 horsepower paired with an industry best double clutch transmission linked together by a sophisticated active all-wheel drive system transferring power to the ground via the adaptive suspension and rear-wheel steering. Active engine mounts control the 3.8L turbo engine’s power, while optimized intake and cooling systems and the use of ceramic bearings demonstrate Kalmar Automotive’s commitment to innovation. A lightweight inconel exhaust system is also on board to provide a remarkable engine note. With all of the power under the foot of the driver, significant downforce was demanded throughout the more than 3-year development period. The end result is 1450 kg at peak and current full-size simulations indicate a Nürburgring lap time of 7 minutes flat.

“The 9X9 is Kalmar Automotive’s tribute to one of the greatest road-going sports cars of the millennia, enhanced to the highest possible degree that technology today allows. The result is our creation of a brand-new class of vehicle, the retro hypercar,” comments Jan Kalmar, Founder of Kalmar Automotive. “We quietly teased the 9X9 on competing 24 Hour of Le Mans cars for the last two years with our 9X9 logo on the rear spoiler. Succinctly put, we are not posh, our tradition is in engineering and technology excellence. It is a privilege and an honor to bring the 9X9 as an automotive dream to life. Those who understand will surely appreciate the 9X9.”

A fully bespoke double-wishbone pushrod front-axle suspension designed by Danisi Engineering in Italy allows for both rear and all-wheel-drive 9X9 setups. Shock absorbers from Tractive with adaptive valving, variable length and speed-dependent 3rd shock absorber unit are all designed to precisely manage the contact between car and road, putting power down through superlight magnesium rims and Michelin tires.

Kalmar Automotive’s brake partner CarboBrake has developed 3D-printed lightweight titanium brake calipers to provide the required stopping power while simultaneously creating an extremely low unsprung mass. These calipers are paired with ceramic brake discs, while driving systems such as stability management, traction control, and ABS are all retained for modern, reliable on-road performance.

While many vintage road-going sports cars featured low drag and no downforce aiming for high-speed capabilities only, Kalmar had other plans for the 9X9. All bodywork on the Kalmar 9X9 was extensively CFD tested by Aerotak for drag and downforce optimization including internal and external flow maps prior to the creation of the final full carbon fiber body. The entire 9X9 bodywork weighs less than 100 kg and consists of over 100 parts.

For each new 9X9 build, Kalmar Automotive emphasizes a minimalist interior package with the joy of driving always present in mind. The 9X9 seamlessly mixes the traditional analog rev counter with LCD screens to provide all necessary information. No navigation system or radio have found their way into the cabin, as Bluetooth capabilities allow either driver or passenger to discreetly connect from any modern device. Precisely built with a maximum of two individuals in mind, each lightweight seat is personalized to ensure both driver and passenger are one with their Kalmar 9X9. With the goal of being a high-performance road car, the Kalmar 9X9 features a hidden roll cage acting as a full space frame concept and implemented for added safety and stiffness.

The Kalmar 9X9 will be introduced in 3 versions, all ready for sale: 9X9, 9X9 Sport, and 9X9 Leichtbau. The 3 offered Kalmar 9X9 configurations yield distinct driving experiences. The 9X9 model emphasizes road-going power with a super powerful but still GT-oriented driving experience made with lengthy excursions and grand touring in mind. This is mainly due to the double clutch transmission and all-wheel drive system, transferring more than 900 horsepower safely to the ground. The 9X9 “Sport” version offers more driver involvement with a 3.0L 650-horsepower turbocharged engine and introducing a 7-speed manual transmission also linked to a variable all-wheel drive system. More direct suspension components and lighter weight adds to the more driver focused driving experience. The Kalmar 9X9 Leichtbau (Lightweight) version implements a naturally-aspirated high revving 4.0L engine with a six-speed manual gearbox powering only the rear wheels. Built with automotive purists in mind so all comfort equipment has been removed to reach a weight of only 1250 kg. The 9X9 Leichtbau offers the ultimate driver experience far beyond any current comparable car on the market.

“Kalmar Automotive created the 9X9 to invite a car that we all admired in the past into the present by creating an absolutely peerless road car. The 9X9 features countless bespoke parts that we and our partners created and manufactured, we went to extremes in terms of weight reduction and weight distribution and proudly can state numbers far below industry standards,” continues Kalmar. “Many automotive firsts and innovations are realized in our commitment to lightweight engineering. The 9X9 is over engineered to an obsessive degree. The car enthusiast will appreciate the 9X9 even more when they realize how much they can influence their own version. We bring automotive dreams to life.”

Each Kalmar Automotive conversion is made to customer specifications. No two vehicles ever will have the same design or exact same driving characteristics. First unveiled at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, during Monterey Car Week 2024, Kalmar Automotive is set to deliver their first customized 9X9 to customers by July 2025. Kalmar Automotive 9X9 and 7-97’s are now available to order in the U.S. through Canepa Group, Inc.

Full EU compliant homologation is prepared for the Kalmar 9X9 series. For more information on Kalmar Automotive, please visit www.kalmarautomotive.com or email sales@kalmarautomotive.com.
