LOS ANGELES – The Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe Reimagined by Singer represents the latest services from Singer, the California-based luxury specialist that restores and reimagines classic Porsche 911s in collaboration with their owners.

Rob Dickinson: Singer’s Founder, Executive Chairman and Creative Director explains:
In the 1980’s you could order a new 911 Carrera with the pumped-up bodywork of the Turbo but powered by the company’s latest, naturally aspirated flat six. It became known as the Carrera with Super Sport Equipment. Our services reference this car and celebrate the era with a vision for an ultimate, naturally aspirated, G model 911, reimagined for the twenty-first century. At its heart is a remarkable flat-six, bringing together our learnings from the last fifteen years, and adding variable valve timing for the first time.

Notes Mazen Fawaz, Singer’s Chief Strategy Officer:
“Together with owners we’re celebrating the heritage of the Porsche 911, both for those who read every press report about their hero cars as kids, and for those who were too young to know about these incredible machines the first time around. We only work with the best, so we’ve developed partnerships with companies that have built their reputations at the very highest levels of motorsport and the automotive world. We’re committed to ensuring that every car restored by Singer is an analogue jewel – beautiful and captivating to drive above all else.”

    The restoration process
The process begins when the owner of a Porsche 911 (Type 964) sends their car to Singer with the request to carry out a personalized restoration. Originally manufactured by Porsche more than thirty years ago, these sports cars have been on the road ever since, covering thousands of miles in the hands of many drivers.

The first step of the restoration involves the owner’s car being carefully disassembled. The interior is removed, as is the exterior bodywork and all mechanical components, until the steel monocoque (chassis) is revealed. The chassis is painstakingly assessed, cleaned, and prepared so that it is in optimal condition for the next stages of restoration. During this phase, chassis strengthening, developed in consultation with Red Bull Advanced Technologies, is applied to enhance the rigidity of the original Type 964 monocoque.

    Engine and transmission
The engine in a 911 Carrera Coupe Reimagined by Singer draws on long experience with the 911 and learnings from the DLS program, where the company’s first four-valve cylinder head was born. This expertise allows Singer to continue exploring the performance potential of the Type 964’s iconic flat-six, on behalf of its clients, through a continuous process of careful optimization and the development of a revised four-valve cylinder head. Singer have jointly developed the execution of this engine with Cosworth, who have deployed their unparalleled experience, specifically in the areas of variable valve timing, combustion chamber design and intake and exhaust path.

The engine represents multiple firsts. It is the first engine restored for a Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer to feature variable valve timing, optimizing drivability at low speeds, and power at high revs. It is also the first naturally aspirated engine restored by Singer to use water-cooled cylinder heads combined with air-cooled cylinders, utilizing learnings from the DLS Turbo program.

Together, these features help the 4.0L flat-six to develop 420HP and broaden the torque delivery across a wider range of engine speeds, while enabling owners in a growing range of countries to restore their cars through Singer’s services.

The engine will rev to over 8000 rpm and, to encourage drivers to explore that range, an optimized, six-speed, manual gearbox can be specified, sending power to the rear wheels. A raised gear shifter may be specified with an exposed shift mechanism, underlining the engineering craftsmanship. A newly developed titanium exhaust system provides free breathing for the flat-six and its famous soundtrack.

    Says Dickinson:
“Porsche offered the option of a wide-bodied, naturally aspirated G model 911 Carrera for drivers in the 1980s. The Super Sport Equipment package was intended for what Porsche described as ‘the connoisseur of high performance’, incorporating uprated brakes and suspension along with its purposeful appearance. If you wanted a whale tail you could have one, if you didn’t, that was possible too. We’ve used this as inspiration for our latest services and as a home for this special engine. Hans Mezger’s masterpiece – restored, reimagined and reborn – is at the heart of the car.”

    Chassis
On behalf of owners, Singer joined forces with Red Bull Advanced Technologies, the high-performance engineering arm of Red Bull Technology Group, to increase the strength and torsional rigidity of the original 964 chassis through the restoration process.

Red Bull Advanced Technologies assessed the 964 chassis using their world-class capabilities in simulation and structural analysis. Their work led to the development of a chassis strengthening system, using composite and steel reinforcement, applied to the 964 monocoque at the beginning of the restoration process.

The original Type 964 monocoque remains at the heart of the car, augmented with this strengthening to provide an optimized foundation for each subsequent stage of the restoration, with increased rigidity benefitting handling, braking and overall refinement.

    Heritage and cutting edge
Singer’s experience with carbon fibre enables careful balancing of iconic DNA with cutting-edge engineering and material science. While inspired by the G model cars of the 1980s, the bodywork is reimagined for aesthetic and functional performance. The use of carbon fibre allows reduced mass and enhanced stiffness, further sharpening dynamic responses in the manner that Singer’s clients have come to expect.

Inspired by the Super Sport Equipment available in period, the carbon fiber body accommodates wide front and rear bodywork. A deep front spoiler optimizes cooling and airflow at the front of the car, while intakes in the leading edges of the rear fenders direct cooling air to the engine compartment.

The 911 Carrera could be specified in period with or without the famous whale tail rear wing, and Singer’s restoration services allow today’s drivers the same choice. A fixed wing or speed-activated wing manage airflow over the rear of the car for stability at speed. High-performance auxiliary driving lights may also be specified, rising from the front hood when activated and folding down flush when not in use.

    Ground control
In common with the 911 Carrera cars in period, the dynamic performance of the engine is enhanced with a sophisticated approach to suspension, brakes, wheels and tyres, enabling drivers to cover ground rapidly, where the conditions allow.

Suspension developed for Singer’s turbocharged services provides the foundation for compliant, sporting handling. New, four-way adjustable dampers with electronic damping control can be adjusted from the driver’s seat and incorporate a nose lift system.
Carbon ceramic brakes developed through the DLS services may be specified, sitting behind 18” centre-lock wheels, providing deep reserves of stopping power.

Tyre technology has developed dramatically since the end of the twentieth century and the use of the latest Michelin Pilot Sport tyres allows the restored car to transmit its power effectively to the road. The driver may select from five drive modes (Road, Sport, Track, Off and Weather) to adjust the levels of intervention from the traction control and electronic stability control, depending on the road conditions and their own capabilities.

    Driver-focused interior
Singer’s restoration and modification services enable owners to personalize the interior presentation of their car according to their personal preferences, through bespoke paint, leather, and material finishes. Lightweight sports or track seats may be requested, providing the perfect driving position in combination with the raised gear shifter mechanism.

In front of the driver, the familiar 911 instrument layout is reimagined, with hand-built gauges bringing high-watchmaking standards into the cabin. Singer’s mastery of traditional leatherworking techniques allows owners to request stitched and burnished leather seams throughout the cabin for the first time. Technology is incorporated with restraint, allowing for discrete navigation and phone connectivity.

Some of us a are more, well, thorough than others when it comes to the Tailored Driver ethos. Paint to Sample colors are incredibly prevalent, so if you really want to set yourself apart from the others at your local Cars and Coffee (especially in the Bay Area), you have to bring it. The former owner of this Tailored Driver sure as hell got that memo, as they took their Signal Green GT3 and went nearly full Cup car by curating tasteful items from BBS Motorsport (E88 Wheels), Manthey Racing (3-way Clubsport suspension), Dundon Motorsport (D3 Engine package) and Porsche Motorsport (Fenders, Liners, Splitter) to arrive at the result seen above. For good measure, it’s also got a few OEM+ touches as well, specifically a carbon hood from a 911R, GT3 RS Side Skirts, and brake cooling ducts from the GT4 RS. If this is your idea of perfection, head to Porsche San Francisco to achieve Platinum-level Tailored Driver status.

  • Porsche 911 Spirit 70

    Porsche 911 Spirit 70

Exclusive Olive Neo colour, historically inspired decorative graphics and legendary Pasha pattern in the interior: Porsche presents the 911 Spirit 70 at the Shanghai Auto Show, a convertible limited to 1,500 units that embodies the essence of the 1970s and early 1980s.

Created as part of the Heritage Design strategy, this collector’s item is the third 911 model in which Porsche has revived an era with the help of iconographic design elements from earlier vehicles. The technical basis for the 911 Spirit 70 is the current 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet with efficient performance hybrid. In combination with the high-voltage system, the eTurbo and the electric motor in the new PDK, the newly developed 3.6-litre boxer engine achieves a system output of 398 kW (541 hp) and 610 Nm. The 911 Spirit 70 can be ordered immediately. It is expected to arrive at European dealerships from April 2025, with other markets to follow.

“The Heritage Design models occupy a special position within our product strategy from a design perspective,” says Michael Mauer, Vice President Style Porsche. “The limited-edition sports cars visualise what makes the Porsche brand so special. Every design of our vehicles ties in with our history – these vehicles go one step further. They show how we reinterpret historical design elements in a state-of-the-art sports car.”

“The limited-edition collector’s items are particularly desirable for our customers worldwide,” says Alexander Fabig, Vice President Individualisation and Classic. “The first two models in the Heritage Design strategy have brought back the lifestyle of past decades and generated a great deal of enthusiasm. We are delighted with this success and are now proud to present the third, highly exclusive model.”

The Heritage Design models emphasise the ‘lifestyle’ dimension, which stands for particularly emotional concepts within the Porsche product strategy. The first model in the series was the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition presented in 2020 in the style of the 1950s and early 1960s. With the 911 Sport Classic, Porsche presented the second collector’s item from the Heritage Design strategy in 2022. This small series, limited to 1,250 units, revived the style of the 1960s and early 1970s.

The new 911 Spirit 70 pays tribute to Porsche’s enhanced corporate strategy. The sports car manufacturer wants to further expand its customisation options: Porsche already offers more than 1,000 Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur options. Over the past five years, the average sales per vehicle with Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur options have doubled. In order to fulfil even more individual customer dreams in the future, the capacity of the Exclusive Manufaktur is to be significantly expanded in the future.

Porsche Design has created a high-quality chronograph exclusively for buyers of the latest collector’s item. With numerous details, it is visually reminiscent of the 911 Spirit 70. For example, the shiny black Pasha pattern on the dial is inspired by the seat centre panel of its motorised role model.

The Porsche Lifestyle Collection matching the 911 Spirit 70 allows you to rediscover the 1970s in style and authenticity. The range of very special collector’s items includes a collection of daywear, sportswear, lifestyle accessories and model vehicles.

Exterior: Special colour concept and badges in historic style

The designers and paint experts at Porsche created the colour Olive Neo especially for the 911 Spirit 70 – a rich, deep green. Bronzite forms an exciting contrast to this colour. The lower rear section, the front section and the Sport Classic wheels in ‘Fuchs’ design are painted in this grey-gold colour. The soft top is black, as is the windscreen frame, emphasising the unique visual presence of the 911 Spirit 70.

Three decorative stripes in black silk gloss run across the bonnet. This detail is reminiscent of the safety stickers from the 1970s: back then, sports drivers applied longitudinal stripes to the bodies of their fast cars so that the sports cars were easier to see in the rear-view mirror at high speeds on the motorway or racetrack. The stripes are continued tone-on-tone on the soft top. The side decorative graphics with Porsche lettering and round start number field (‘Lollipop’) in black silk gloss and individual start number are a nod to the brand’s sporting tradition.

An example of the contrast between tradition and innovation can be found in the centre of the front bonnet: The 911 Spirit 70 bears a Porsche crest there that is almost identical to the historic crest from 1963. There are gold-coloured “Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur” badges on the front wings. The Porsche Heritage badge sits on the grille of the boot lid. Its design is reminiscent of the badge on the Porsche 356, which was awarded in the 1950s when the 100,000-kilometre mark was reached. Other unusual details include the gold-coloured Porsche lettering and the model designation at the rear. The lettering gets its extraordinary brilliance from the galvanised gold-plated surface.

Interior: With Pasha pattern and special instrument cluster

The highlight of the interior is the iconic Pasha fabric pattern in black/olive neo. The graphic design of the fabric is reminiscent of a moving chequered flag. Different sized, cleverly arranged rectangles create a kind of movement in the pattern. Instead of jacquard velour as in the past, the 911 Spirit 70 combines a textile with flock yarns. This gives the fabric an even sportier character, an improved feel and more comfort, especially on longer journeys.

The centre panels of the 18-way sports seats Plus, the door mirrors and even the inside of the glove compartment are covered in the Pasha pattern. The decorative inlays on the seat backrests and the trim on the dashboard are also available in Pasha as an option. The standard range also includes a reversible boot mat in Pasha. The elegant club leather trim in basalt black with decorative stitching in olive neo and the basalt black club leather interior package are also on board as standard.

The instrument cluster combines historic design with state-of-the-art technology. The high-resolution 12.65-inch display has white pointers and scale lines in analogue format. Green digits are reminiscent of the legendary Porsche 356 and the model lettering is elegantly integrated into the fully digital rev counter. White hands and green numerals also characterise the special version of the Sport Chrono stopwatch.

    Time travel to the 70s

Additionally, Porsche is offering a new app for the Apple Vision Pro. This allows users to immerse themselves in the 70s and design their dream vehicle.

Step by step, they can customize the Porsche 911 Spirit 70 and gain valuable insights into the iconic designs of that decade. The app will be available for free in the App Store for the Apple Vision Pro coinciding with the launch of the Porsche 911 Spirit 70.

Additional highlights for the Porsche Air|Water auction feature a series of sought-after Porsche performance and racing icons. The group includes:

    • 1966 Porsche 906 (Estimate: $1,600,000 – $1,900,000), chassis no. 906-140, an excellent example of the streamlined, prototype sports racer that captured an overall victory at the 1966 Targa Florio and signaled the dawn of a new golden age of endurance racing. This particular car is offered in largely unrestored condition, retaining numerous as-built details. It is fitted with a replacement magnesium-case Type 910 flat-six and its original serialized racing gearbox. It is finished in blue livery as campaigned by sports car dealer and racing driver Monte Shelton in the late 1960s.
    • 1990 Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer (Estimate: $1,050,000 – $1,250,000), chassis no. WP0AB2961LS451139, known as the “Central Florida” commission. This exceptionally specified 911 is finished in Singer Racing White—a color that pays tribute to some of Porsche’s earliest models—and is well-equipped to offer vastly improved performance. It is powered by the 4.0-liter Ed Pink-built air-cooled flat-six engine and boasts an Öhlins 2-Way sport adjustable suspension, and premium Brembo brakes with carbon ceramic rotors. Well-optioned with multiple Special Wishes items, it is the perfect harmony of mechanical excellence and timeless design and has covered less than 2,300 miles since Reimagining.
    • 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 X88 (Estimate: $530,000 – $560,000), chassis no. WP0ZZZ96ZRS470400, one of the most desirable of the so-called Porsche Works Performance “package cars”. This car is one of only 64 examples of the X88 Works Performance Package produced for the 1994 911 Turbo 3.6. It features an enhanced M64/50 air-cooled flat-six producing 385 horsepower and the rare X92 front lip spoiler typically reserved for the exclusive Turbo S X88. Finished in striking Paint-to-Sample non-metallic “Ferrari Yellow” over a Black leather interior, it is offered with only 52,848 km recorded at cataloging and following a recent extensive engine and suspension service.
    • 2012 RUF Rt 12 S (Estimate: $600,000 – $700,000), chassis no. The Rt 12 was produced in exceptionally limited numbers, with each car custom-built to its owner’s specifications. Green on yellow was a thing for a hot minute amongst some cars in the 1970s. Outside of that moment in history, it is a unique and acquired taste sort of decision. No doubt polarizing, we have equally no doubt that such a combination on a rare and low mileage 993-generation Porsche 911 Carrera 4S would be treasured by the right buyer.

If you’re that right buyer, you’re definitely going to want to take a closer look at this.

Market Find: Paint to Sample Albert Blue Porsche 911 GT3 RS in San Luis Obispo

    What: 2024 Porsche 911 GT3 RS
Color: Porsche Paint to Sample Albert Blue (albertblau; 325 / 1818 / 387; Porsche)
    VIN:  WP0AF2A99RS272818
    Mileage: 1,420 Miles
    Price: $441,888

    Window Sticker: N/A
    Location: San Luis Obispo, CA
    Listing: Porsche San Luis Obispo

Paint to Sample Albert Blue is an interesting color choice for a 911 GT3 RS – a color from Porsche’s rich heritage that’s somewhat subdued for such an in-your-face car as a GT3 RS. Pair it with red graphics though (not to mention carbon fiber laden Weissach Package) and the overall look becomes decidedly more bold.

One hard-to-miss element of this build is the matching blue and red tartan fabric on the seats. We’ve not seen this pattern before offered by Porsche, and the listing makes no mention of Sonderwunsch touches, fabric, tartan or plaid. That said, there are plenty of companies out there specializing in making replacement seat centers for Porsche’s carbon buckets where their modularity in construction allow for additional special touches that can take on a factory installed appearance. This may be that – handsome, but perhaps not factory and something you may want to verify if that is important to you.

Market Find: First 911 S/T We Found for Sale. Successful Circumnavigation of the Lease?

    What: 2024 Porsche 911 S/T
Color: Shade Green Metallic (shadegreenmetallic-UNI; M6F; Porsche)
    VIN:  WP0AF2A97RS273031
    Mileage: 66 Miles
    Price: $621,445
    CarFax: N/A
    Window Sticker: N/A
    Location: Langley, BC
    Listing: Porsche Centre Langley

We haven’t had a Porsche 911 S/T on the site yet. The reason why is simple. Getting an allotment was nigh impossible unless you were a Porsche highly regular, and even those were leased to all American buyers for a year assuring they wouldn’t end up in flip mode. The same was the case for Canada, or so we thought.

Other than the one sold recently in a charity auction benefitting Los Angeles fire victims we haven’t seen these on the open market just yet. However, this Shade Green Metallic example for sale in British Columbia appears to be available and we found it on the Dupont Registry. Has it been a year since these things started being delivered?

Shade Green Metallic is a 911 color. Yet can be ordered on a standard run-of-the-mill 911, though a quick check of the 911 S/T configurator in the U.S. shows no Shade Green availability. Paint to Sample isn’t mentioned in the ad, so perhaps it was available though Canada’s own configurator tool for the S/T isn’t active at this time.

Regardless, Shade Green is paired here with Classic Cognac / Black leather seat that’s part of the Heritage Interior Design package. It’s also got the Heritage Design Package 60 Years 911, including Chrono Package, Front Axle Lift System, Ambient Lighting Plus, Porsche ParkAssist Rear, Bose Surround Sound System, Traffic Sign Recognition and LED-Matrix Design Headlights in Black with PDLS+ and much more, this 911 S/T ensures exceptional driving comfort and precision.

Market Find: 2024 Porsche 911 GT3 RS in Ice Grey Metallic

    What: 2024 Porsche 911 GT3 RS
Color: Ice Grey Metallic (eisgraumetallic; metallic UNI; M7N / G7; Porsche)
    VIN: WP0AF2A91RS272263
    Mileage: 1,433 miles
    Price: $389,888

    Window Sticker: N/A
Location: Porsche San Luis Obispo, San Luis Obispo, CA
    Marketplace listing: Link

When it comes to the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Ice Grey Metallic was a launch color that’s deemed a Special Color in the order books and one for which you’d pay a premium. Does that make it tailored? Well, we’d say that’s borderline but we’ll let it pass on a car as rare as the GT3 RS and in such a well-executed factory specification. That’s particularly the case when this cool shade of grey is paired with the same Satin Indigo Blue wheel finish first launched on the 718 GT4 RS models.

Other options for this car include Weissach Package, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) with calipers in yellow, front axle lift, deviated stitching package, surround sound, LED-Matrix Design headlights in black and more.
