If you’re an Audi enthusiast, there’s a lot to love about the A6 allroad we’ve found within the inventory of a Wisconsin Toyota dealership. For those who don’t know, we’ll run down the can’t miss calls to Audi history.
First up is the Audi exclusive Nogaro Blue paint. First appearing in the Audi RS2 era as RS Blue, Nogaro has become synonymous with performance Audi models and specifically performance wagons. In the C8 era as is this A6 allroad, Nogaro Blue was painted on the highly sought-after RS 6 Avant RS Tribute Edition and then blocked from purchase for any other RS 6s until last year… at least in the USA. The color remained open in other markets including Europe and Canada. Even still, the exclusivity adds to the desirability of a Nogaro Blue Audi wagon like this allroad.
Now we’ll go deeper into tailored Audi lore. Back in 2002 during the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah, Audi produced a limited run of ten A6 allroads (then simply known as “allroad”) for the use of the German Ski Federation whom Audi AG sponsored. Once the olympics ended, the athletes went home and the allroads were circulated out into American Audi dealerships where they remain highly desirable to enthusiasts in the know.
Those so-called “Olympic allroads” weren’t Nogaro Blue, but Sprint Blue had been introduced as the then replacement to Nogaro Blue. A bold blue of its own, the color was more metallic and slightly more green than Nogaro Blue, but they were very close… so close that this car definitely seems to hark the 2002 Olympic allroads.
There’s one other thing worth calling out there, and that is the Sarder Brown interior. This is a standard interior, but obscure in that it’s only available on the A6 allroad and not the RS 6 or other A6 models. It’s also a relatively low install rate on an already relatively rare car. We can’t say it would be our first choice on a bold color such as Nogaro Blue, but we don’t hate it.
What: 2021 Audi A6 allroad Color: Audi exclusive Nardo Grey(nardograu; UNI; LY7C; Audi) VIN: WAU92BF2XMN033356 Mileage: 21,304 miles Price: $58,500 CarFax: N/A Window Sticker: N/A Location: Chester, CA Listing:Private Sale
We can’t be mad at any dealer for trying, so when the private seller of this Tailored Driver says “the dealer had it set up to look like an RS“, we’ll go ahead and assume that includes the RS 6 badge found stuck to the rear tailgate. Moving past this easy to remove faux pas, this A6 allroad is a fairly handsome spec- Audi exclusive Nardo grey with black optic package and contrasting dark cladding. In a world where wagons- especially big wagons- are harder and harder to find without an AMG or RS badge, this could be your ticket to the Tailored Driver elite without the hefty insurance premium that often comes with.
What: 2022 Audi A6 allroad Prestige Color: Goodwood Green (goodwoodgrünperleffekt; metallic UNI; Z6X; Audi) VIN: WAU92BF25NN052110 Mileage: 23,549 Price: $64,000 CarFax:Link Window Sticker: N/A Location: BMW of Minnetonka, Minnetonka, MN Listing:Link
Given the focus on the Audi RS 6, most enthusiasts seeking a special station wagon from the brand of the four rings tend to apply Audi exclusive paint services to the big dog RS car. Comparatively though, the A6 allroad is a veritable bargain. Build it to Prestige specification in the order guide then throw on a great-looking special paint color from Audi exclusive and you have a very special thing.
In this case, that color is Goodwood Green. Dating back to Audi’s B6/C5 era in the early 2000s, Goodwood is the go-to British Racing Green-like color in the Audi catalogue, though tends to be a bit more on the blue and darker side of the British Racing Green spectrum.
Though it’s hard to see in these photos, the interior is a very dark hue known as Sarder Brown. That interior color isn’t available in the RS 6 nor even in the RS 6 Audi exclusive interior options, so its presence in this car is a bit of an exclusivity on its own. It also pairs very handsomely with Goodwood Green.
Are there downsides? It depends on your purview. This car appears to have aftermarket wheels and it’s been lowered likely via programming to the air suspension. To an enthusiast, these may be welcome changes. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be hard to put things back to factory if that’s your preference.
If you have the chance, check this car out in person. Photography of the car appears to be the day it was traded, complete with Minnesota license plates and a layer of winter road salt. It doesn’t matter though, it’s still a highly desirable specification.
What: 2025 Audi A6 allroad Color: Audi exclusive Nogaro Blue(nogaroblau; pearl effect UNI; Z5M; Audi) VIN: WAU72BF22SN028432 Mileage: 12 miles Price at Time of this Writing: $81,995 CarFax: N/A Window Sticker: N/A Location: Audi Fresno, Fresno, CA Dealer listing:Link
Ever since it dropped as “RS Blue” on the original RS2, Nogaro Blue rose to legend status. Adding it to any Audi station wagon immediately amplifies appeal given the heritage, inspiring the building of countless Audi exclusive long roofs from mundane small displacement wagons to the most bruiser of RS cars. Whatever the case, they’ve got our attention and this time around it’s Audi Fresno with the A6 allroad you see here.
This particular car is part of Audi Fresno’s new car fleet, so golf clap to that dealership for going off script and ordering something this cool. Equipment is Premium Plus, likely meant to keep the car from venturing too close to six figures that tends to be RS 6 territory.
Update: This ran in the Audi exclusive Classifieds Group we manage on Facebook. A user in there, John Finley shared the following first hand information. “Saw it yesterday. The fender trim is matte Nogaro, which was kind of weird but didn’t look bad. It was a gift from Audi, so base trim. If anybody wants to go look at it, ask for Aidan Sherman. Good salesman and loves wagons as well.”
There’s something about a primary-ish blue Audi Avant that just seems right. You can thank the original Audi RS2 for starting that theme… or at least sending it into icon status, but every medium blue Avant since definitely hits this note in some capacity. And while the car you see here isn’t a rare 1 of 25 Audi RS 6 RS Tribute Edition, it is a C8 long roof in a color you’d be forgiven for mistaking as Nogaro Blue.
It’s not Nogaro Blue though, and how we know this deserves calling out. Yes, this blue is unlike any of the conservative and forgettable factory A6 allroad colors, so we already knew it’s an Audi exclusive build. Such cars are easy enough to find on classified sites, but knowing whether it’s any number of medium blues depending on lighting for the photography can be a real challenge. Even Audi dealers, more often than not, don’t include the name of the Audi exclusive color in an online listing. So, when a Ford dealership in Tennessee lists it, we don’t exactly have high hopes. Or, more accurately, when Ford of Franklin confirms the color in the listing, Firmament Blue to be exact, it’s worth calling out and offering a golf clap.
The car in question (VIN# WAU92BF23MN037703) is also a nice spec beyond just the color. It’s a 2021 Prestige package car (Audi’s Best on the Good, Better, Best scale), and includes full body paint over the fender flares for a sportier appearance. This fresh trade has also covered 26,909 miles. Listed at $55,382 it’s roughly half the price of the equivalent RS 6, getting you a fair degree of the big body Audi long roof experience at a fraction of the RS 6 price.
All-new Audi A6 allroad returns following its original introduction in 2000
Offers high versatility and maximum comfort with enhanced capabilities on and off-road enabled by adaptive air suspension
Limited Anniversary Edition offers exterior design elements and exclusive Gavial Green exterior color is available in celebration of original allroad
HERNDON, VA – Following the success and enthusiast fanfare of past generations, the A6 allroad makes its U.S. return in 2020 with a specially tuned adaptive air suspension and quattro® with ultra® technology. The A6 allroad is equipped with a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 TFSI® engine that gives it the power to match the vehicle’s versatile character and distinctive design. Whether making first tracks on dirt roads or arriving to opening night at the theatre, the allroad remains the perfect car for any occasion.
Designed for adventure
The dynamic and refined design of the A6 model line is combined with striking off-road enhancements to emphasize the wagon’s distinct character. Wheel arches and rocker panels are painted in Scandium gray matte that contrast the body paint to emphasize rugged elements. For a more refined esthetic, a full-paint option is also available. A wide allroad-specific grille with chrome vertical slats and 20-inch wheels also differentiate the wagon from its sedan counterpart. Alu-optic finish can be found on the standard roof rails, front blade and underbody protection, and the allroad-specific diffuser in the rear, to further complement the Avant design cues of the vehicle.
The inside of the A6 allroad yields a truly premium experience by maintaining the same extensive infotainment range and driver assistance systems that can be found in the A6 sedan. Further premium features include a standard dual pane panoramic sunroof, Ambient LED interior lighting package, and a Bang & Olufsen® 3D Premium Sound System.
The road ahead
A specially tuned adaptive air suspension with controlled damping allows the A6 allroad to switch between on and off-road driving situations, making it ready for the adventure ahead. Ride height is adjusted depending on the mode set using the Audi drive select system and road speed. At its maximum height, the allroad sits 1.8 inches higher than the A6 sedan to enable additional clearance over rugged terrain for a total ground clearance of 7.3 inches. Drivers can choose between six driving modes to best fit nearly any driving scenario.
Auto: provides the most balanced engine and chassis response (5.5 inches of ground clearance)
Comfort: lighter steering feel and smoother throttle input makes smooth and comfortable driving (5.5 inches of ground clearance)
Dynamic: heavier steering feel along with immediate throttle responses and sporty gear changes (-0.6 inches lower)
Individual: driver chooses each setting according to preference
Offroad: provides increased ground clearance (+1.2 inches) at speeds up to 21.7 mph
Lift: provides an additional 0.6 inches of lift above Offroad mode, when traveling under 21.7 mph
The A6 allroad also offers additional standard comfort features including standard hill descent control, tilt angle assist and dynamic all-wheel steering. When negotiating light terrain, the driver can call up a display on the MMI monitor that shows the current tilt angle in the longitudinal and transverse directions – displaying a warning when the vehicle is at risk of tipping over. On a steep slope, the hill descent control limits the speed to a speed decided by the driver and brakes all four wheels selectively and individually as necessary. On loose surfaces the system provides an additional braking wedge in front of the wheel by using a special ABS brake function.
Comfortable meets capable
The 2020 A6 allroad is standard equipped with a turbocharged 3.0-liter TFSI® engine and Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) technology that work in tandem to efficiently produce 335 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. The allroad uses a seven-speed S tronic® dual-clutch automatic transmission and standard quattro® with ultra® technology.
Anniversary Edition: celebrating 20 years
The available Anniversary Edition A6 allroad pays homage to the vehicle’s adventurous history by offering an exclusive Gavial Green color option, as well as Sarder brown Valcona leather with Fine Nappa accents. The special Gavial Green color in the modern Avant takes its cues from the Highland Green color of the original A6 allroad model that debuted in 2000. The Anniversary Edition also includes Fine Grain Ash Natural Noble Wood inlays, pedals and footrest in stainless steel, a leather seat base, and leather airbag cap with contrast stitching.
