    Why we love it:

It’s often said (or at least inferred) that the BMW M3/4 is the last stop on a car enthusiasts way to Porsche ownership. If that’s the case, this Paint to Sample San Marino Blue 718 Cayman GTS is one hell of a proof of concept. Initially a BMW color (code B51/5), San Marino Blue was added to Porsche’s Paint to Sample program as part of their ‘approved’ list in 2023 (code W87). So here we have a non-911 in a Paint to Sample color that required additional approval for production, with a naturally aspirated four-liter flax-six paired to a manual transmission. For those looking to place a bet against depreciation, this seems like a great opportunity.

    Why we love it:

In terms of rarity, 996-generation Paint to Sample Porsches are up there. Graded on that curve, this particular 996 Turbo Cab with X50 package is simply off the charts. Draped in Porsche Paint to Sample Zircon Blue Metallic- a color so rare that Rennbow can only muster a shrug and a Google search of the color shows this car as the only result- this Tailored Driver also represents a bit of a question mark for us. Undoubtedly a true ‘match this’ request from Tailor to Factory, touch up paint for the color points to code W49, Zircon Blue and the color is further confirmed by an old Bring a Trailer listing. Oddly enough, per Rennbow and other sources W49 was later used for Grigio Granito Metallic, a fairly dynamic Grey with pronounced metallic flake. While full details are yet to be revealed, finds like this are the stuff of Tailored Driver dreams, and we’re incredibly excited to have preserved it in our records.

  • Color Check: Rolls-Royce Cullinan Series II in Salamanca Blue

Color Check: Rolls-Royce Cullinan Series II in Salamanca Blue

Rolls-Royce recently dropped basic color and specification from the Cullinan Series II and Black Badge Cullinan Series II global media drive held in Ibiza back in June. Alas, we weren’t on that drive, but we are able to share the basic color information in order to help inspire those ordering Rolls-Royces of their own, or considering Rolls-Royce hues in build specifications from other manufacturers.

We’ve been adding each car in our Color Check over the last few weeks. Next up is this Rolls-Royce Black Badge Cullinan Series II christened ‘Pioneer’. It’s finished in Salamanca Blue (salamancablue; pearl metallic uni; R84; Rolls-Royce). According to the Audrain Auto Museum, Salamanca Blue is named after the 1913 winner of the Spanish Grand Prix, Marques Don Carlos de Salamanca. Don Carlos Salamanca was a friend of Sir Henry Royce and the importer of Rolls-Royce into Spain at that time.

Rolls-Royce didn’t detail the rest of the spec on ‘Pioneer’, but its distinctive black and white interior is definitely worth noting.

  • Color Check: Bentley Flying Spur Speed in Neptune

Color Check: Bentley Flying Spur Speed in Neptune

The new Bentley Flying Spur Speed cuts a perfect line between luxury barge and lithe sport sedan. Order up the appropriate specification, and the car looks authentically fantastic as either. For instance, take a sporting color like Neptune (neptune; metallic UNI; LK5W / 6502; Bentley), a sort of metallic take on French Blue, and add a healthy dose of brightwork delete and you have one highly sporting sedan indeed.

This new Flying Spur Speed that turned up on the brand’s Global Media Drive. Bentley has released photos of each car on location for the drive. This includes full build specifications.

Inside, the duo-tone cabin is a combination of Imperial Blue and Light Blue leather detailed with contrast stitching and finished with Open Pore Crown Cut Walnut fascias.

Worth noting, the car also has several options that we’ll list here along with U.S. pricing. What: 2020 Mercedes-AMG E 63 S Estate
Color: Porsche Graphite Blue Metallic (graphitblau; metallic UNI; M5G; Porsche)

    Window Sticker: see gallery below
    Location: Audi Plano, Plano, TX
    Dealer listing: Link

    Why we love it:

Cars like this S213 E 63 Estate are next level on the if-you-know-you-know factor. Some will scratch their heads over the idea of spending money on a custom order (a.k.a. “PA1” inside Mercedes) and then choose a subtle color like a grey tone. We see that as the signature of a connoisseur though, not needing to be noticed by everyone. It goes further though. This isn’t just any grey, but Porsche’s Graphite Blue Metallic, meaning you have to be a specific level of brand color aficionado to pick up on what’s going on with this long roof.

Or… maybe it’s much simpler than that. Maybe the original owner just wanted to match his Porsche. Whatever the case, we love this car shared by @designomanufaktur via @winglessGT3 on Instagram.

The car’s got other sought-after options too including carbon ceramic brakes, AMG Night Package, Acoustic Comfort Package, Multibeam, 20-inch twin 5-spoke AMG wheels with black accents, and (a nod to autobahn burners of the past) it’s debadged.

Check out more via the dealer’s listing, and frankly even more as identified by Mercedes experts including @wongnathan01 via the @designomanufaktur Instagram post embedded above.

  • Market Find: 2025 BMW Individual M3 in Laguna Seca Blue

Market Find: 2025 BMW Individual M3 in Laguna Seca Blue

    What: 2025 BMW M3 Sedan
Color: Laguna Seca Blue (lagunasecablau; non-metallic uni; 448; BMW)
    VIN: WBS13HJ09SFU04156
    Mileage: delivery
Price at Time of this Writing: $88,825
    CarFax: N/A
    Window Sticker: see gallery below
    Location: Gainesville, FL
    Dealer listing: Link

    Why we love it:

Laguna Seca Blue is a recent reintroduction added to the BMW Individual palette. The color first dropped on the E46 M3, also going on other M cars throughout the years. Its return has made it a popular color amongst BMW Individual clients, and this one appears to have popped up as available at BMW Gainesville.

Interestingly, the dealer doesn’t have photos of it on the site at the time of this writing. However, Alyssa Trainer in sales at the dealership has already nabbed these mobile phone shots and shared it on the BMW Individual Market & Discussion Group on Facebook. If you’re reaching out to the dealership to inquire on this car, check in with Alyssa and let her know you saw the car on Tailored Driver.

  • EU Market Find: Ex-Factory Porsche 993 Targa in Blue Turquoise plus MT6 in Belgium

EU Market Find: Ex-Factory Porsche 993 Targa in Blue Turquoise plus MT6 in Belgium

    What: 1996 Porsche 911 Targa
Color: Blue Turquoise (blautuerkis; non-metallic UNI; J1; Porsche)
    VIN: N/A
    Mileage: 131,000 km (81,400 miles)
Price at Time of this Writing: €114,993
    CarFax: N/A
    Window Sticker: N/A
    Location: Schoten, Belgium
    Dealer listing: Link

    Why we love it:
In the lexicon of air-cooled Porsche 911s, the 993 Targa is both obscure and hard to find. By the final air-cooled type 993 generation, Porsche had ditched the full-width open top with roll hoop-style design it had pioneered throughout F-body, G-body and 964 generations, replacing them with a more livable (and heavier) glass panorama-style panel that slide back underneath the rear window glass. It’s a design that would stick around through 996 and 997 generations. During the 993 generation, it wasn’t terribly popular, making it a rare find today. Now add a very rare paint color and you have a very unique find indeed.

The hue is Blue Turquoise, paired over Classic Grey (Code TT) leather for a beautiful appearance. It’s also got a manual 6-speed. Given most of the ones we’ve seen have Tiptronic automatic transmissions, we’d wager this makes it even more rare and desirable.

This particular car shows as having been delivered first to Porsche AG as a company car of some sort. Maintenance history, performed exclusively at Porsche facilities, show the carefully logged history of the car.

  • Market Find: 2019 Audi exclusive Aetna Blue S5 Sportback

Market Find: 2019 Audi exclusive Aetna Blue S5 Sportback

    What: 2019 Audi S5 Sportback
Color: Aetna Blue (aetnablau; non-metallic uni; SP39; Audi)
    VIN: WAUB4CF51KA050420
    Mileage: 75,200
Price at Time of this Writing: $29,000
    CarFax: N/A
    Original MSRP: N/A
    Location: Southington, CT
    Private Party listing: Link

    Why we love it:

Believed to be identical to Porsche Aetna Blue that dates back to the 356 era, a quick Googling will show that Audi exclusive has built a small number of cars in this color over the last few years. The owner/seller of this car reports, in this case, it is 1 of 1 and thus apparently the only 2019 Audi S5 Sportback built to this color… at least in this year.

This car has some miles on it, but appears to be a great spec and impeccably kept. This includes Sport Differential, black leather, professionally applied Adams Graphene Advanced Ceramic coating, PPF xple on headlights, Integrated Engineering air intake and stage 1 tune for engine and transmission, plus a set of summer wheels / tires (Audi RS 5 5-spoke design with Continental tires) and winter wheel package with 20-inch rotor style wheels on Pirelli Winter Sottozero tires… the latter likely the stock wheel given this appears to be a black optic S5.

Given the car has mileage, it’s also nice to know that the car has had a recent Blackstone oil analysis, that front and rear brakes were replaced, spark plugs were replaced, water pump service was completed including belt tensioner and roller all at 70,000 miles. The 75,000 mile service was also completed including all fluids changed including the differential. The seller will even provide recent PPI and complete VCDS Scan to a serious buyer.

  • Market Find: Gulf Racing Themed 2024 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Market Find: Gulf Racing Themed 2024 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

    What: 2024 Porsche 911 GT3 RS
Color: Porsche Paint to Sample Gulf Blue (gulfblau; non-metallic / non-metallic UNI; 328; Porsche)
    VIN: WP0AF2A98RS273619
    Mileage: 50
Price at Time of this Writing: $459,990
    CarFax: N/A
    Window Sticker: N/A
    Location: Fort Worth, TX
    Dealer listing: Link

    Why we love it:

Sometimes the whole Gulf Racing thing can go a little overboard. It get’s done, and it get’s done a lot, but doesn’t always work… a little too ambitiously racey for a road car. The 911 GT3 RS though, it’s already got heavy racecar feel to it anyway, and those aerodynamics functional. So, spec in Gulf Blue with Weissach Package, orange stitching and orange graphics and fight the urge to logo it up and we’d argue this is one of the cooler livery-inspired 992 GT3 RS specifications we’ve seen.

The car is no mileage, and has a pretty massive markup. That is what it is. It’s an amazing spec. If you’re tired of waiting in line or not in line at all, and you really want a GT3 RS with some racing flair, it’s hard not to love this thing.

  • Market Find: 2006 Porsche Paint to Sample Riviera Blue 911 Carrera C4S Cabriolet

Market Find: 2006 Porsche Paint to Sample Riviera Blue 911 Carrera C4S Cabriolet

    What: 2006 Porsche 911 Carrera C4S Cabriolet
Color: Paint to Sample Riviera Blue (rivierablau; non-metallic UNI; S8; L39E; Porsche)
    VIN: WP0CB29916S769009
    Mileage: 25,000
Price at Time of this Writing: $52,500
    CarFax: Link
    Window Sticker: Pictured below
    Location: Glen Cove, NY
    Auction listing: Link

    Why we love it:

It may not get the love that its air-cooled ancestors receive, but the 997-generation 911 gets plenty of admiration due to it’s ideal size, relatively modern tech (current, should you get PCCM), and end-of-an-era dynamics that are defining characteristics of early 2000s metal. This one is a touch above having been graced with Paint to Sample Riviera Blue specified on it’s order sheet, with the absolute must-have paint matched center console also included. Open air motoring might be somewhat of a demerit to hardcore enthusiasts, but we’d be happy to let the wind flow through what’s left of our hairline in this Tailored Driver.
