Market Find: 2018 Audi exclusive RS 7 in Teak Brown

Perhaps take from the dealer-doesn’t-know-what-they-have department is this 2018 Audi exclusive RS 7. Why do we say this? Well, for starters the description (Panther Black Crystal Effect, and Black with Mercato Blue Interior) don’t seem to match the photos. Admittedly, the photos are low resolution, so it’s a shame we can’t see the original high-res files.

We ran the VIN and the car is checking in as Teak Brown, which matches the color seen in the photos. That all makes sense. There are no Audi exclusive badges on the door panels, hinting that whatever the interior is, it was a standard offering in period. So, you have a nicely-built RS 7 in a relatively rare Audi exclusive color. Now, throw in the relatively low miles of 53,816 and the price at $58,900 that KBB rates as a “Great Price” and we’d say it’s a great buy.

    What: 2022 Audi SQ5
Color: Porsche Mahogany Metallic (mahogonimetallic; metallic uni; M8Y / Y8; Porsche)

    Price: $51,995

    Location: Jacksonville, FL
    Listing: Audi Jacksonville

It may be subtle, but this Audi SQ5 represents a double dose of rare decisions in the tailored ordering segment. First, going with a subtle color like Brown takes an extra commitment to the decision given the extra money to go with special paint may be lost on many who see the car. Second, going across brand borders into the palette of another manufacturer, in this case Porsche, suggests even more commitment given that likely makes the special paint that much more of a financial commitment.

Porsche Mahagony Metallic over grey is a particularly handsome and yet understated combination to be sure. Well played to the original buyer. The SQ5 now sits in inventory at Audi Jacksonville.

If you’re curious about the car and the color and aren’t local enough to go see it in person, we’d suggest googling it. These photos are low light, making the car appear almost black or dark grey. In our experience Mahogany Metallic is much richer in person than it appears in these photos.

Ferrari built just 150 examples of the Dino 206 GT in 1968. The car you see here is the 38th in that run, and one of just three to be produced from the factory in Nocciola Metallizzato (Italian for Hazelnut Metallic).

The car was produced October 1, 1968, and delivered new to a dealership in Rome. It was imported into the U.S.A. in the 1970s, and was refurbished including a repaint to yellow in the 1980s. It next moved to Japan, then back to America where it was refurbished a second time between 205 and 2017 when it was returned to its original color combination including black vinyl with red leather seat inserts.

The 206 GT means it’s got the 2.0-liter quad cam V6, which is paired to a 6-speed transaxle.

The car’s listing on Bring a Trailer is quite thorough, detailing the car’s history in considerably more detail. It also includes two different sets of photos – even more of the studio shots you see here, and also shots outside under sunlight.

  • EU Market Find: Volkswagen Mk1 Cabriolet Toscana in Rare Copper Metallic

EU Market Find: Volkswagen Mk1 Cabriolet Toscana in Rare Copper Metallic

What: 1994 Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet Toscana Edition
Color: Copper Metallic (camemetallic; metallic Uni; LK2V; Volkswagen)
    VIN: N/A
    Mileage: 85,060 km, 52,853 miles
    Price: € 19,999

    Window Sticker: N/A
    Location: Remscheid, Germany
    Link: Auto Nord Remscheid

For the most part, Volkswagen doesn’t have an in-house tailor, but this German economy brand is rife with special editions, ranging from sticker pack mediocre to truly special. We’d weight the Golf Cabriolet Toscana special edition more on the truly special side of that spectrum.

What makes it so interesting? For starters, it was sold as a final runout of the so-called “Mk1 Cabriolet” built by Karmann. It’s a version and a color that North America never received, and with a March 1994 build date, this car was built after Volkswagen of America ceased importing Cabriolets.

The Toscana came in several distinctive paint colors – Bordeaux Red Pearl, Brilliant Black Metallic, Lieder (Lilac) Metallic, Pearl Grey Metallic and Came (Copper) Metallic you seen here on this example. The cars came with interior code #28, including height adjustable front sport seats trimmed in a set black sport cloth and fabric combination standard across all colors, MFA instrument cluster, leather-wrapped non-airbag steering wheel and shift boot, and Gamma stereo-cassette radio with cassette holder.

Each car would have had 15-inch Le Castellet alloy wheels, though this one shows what look like 15-inch BBS RA wheels that Volkswagen / Karmann had offered on other Cabriolet models but likely weren’t original to this car. We wouldn’t rule their originality out entirely though as this is a very late production car and it’s entirely possible Karmann was fitting whatever they still had in stock.

We note this car has an aftermarket stereo head unit, but is otherwise relatively pristine and reflecting its remarkably low mileage.

Special thanks to Cabby-Info.com for the very detailed index of information on the Toscana.

  • New Audi A6 Revealed, Including Audi exclusive Teasers

New Audi A6 Revealed, Including Audi exclusive Teasers

The launch of an all-new car doesn’t always mean tailored news. Yes, it may be handsome or show an off some new or newly used colors or specification, but it’s often a bit early to be seeing specials or limited editions, and tailoring isn’t always first out of the gate.

Audi’s just shown off its new A6 Avant, the ninth in their C-segment designation lineage and thus known as C9. Our sister site ooooIYYK.com has run an in-depth analysis of the car so worth heading over there to check that out if you want to know everything about it. For Tailored Driver though, we’re going to focus on the paint and any unique specification because it’s worth noting.

First up is the paint. The color is Madeira Brown Metallic (madeirabraun; metallic UNI; L78S; Audi), seen here with black optics. The paint color is a dark brown metallic introduced with the Q8 e-tron. It isn’t far off from the brown in the original Audi Sport “tri-colore” rhombus logo of the 1980s, though we’re not sure if that’s intentional like we’ve seen BMW M do with its own tri-colore rhombus inspired hues.

Next up are a few Audi exclusive teasers. Audi Deutschland’s website Audi.de already has its consumer-facing C9 A6 section live. Yes, it’s in German but most browsers have translation tools built in nowadays, so I figured you’d want to know. The site does not include a configurator tool revealing production details just yet, though it does have additional photos and animations that reveal further details of the car.

We’re including some of those photos here when they call out Audi exclusive. The first is a profile shot in Quantum Grey. Like the reveal car, it’s also an S line specification, though it doesn’t have black optics so shows Audi’s ubiquitous Multi-Spoke S wheel design in familiar two-tone graphite grey with high-sheen face, plus elements like the vertical air curtain inlets in silver. These are little details of course, but it’s still worth calling attention to them.

Another shot is an interior photo depicting Audi exclusive capabilities for the cockpit. Specifications listed include neodymium gold and mint grey with poplar wood with silver brown natural finish.

The next owner of this Tailored Driver has to really love brown. While we’ve played around with Porsche’s Paint to Sample configurator and toyed with the idea of Sepia Brown, we’ve yet to see someone take the plunge. Perhaps because it’s a non-metallic, meaning it’s a LOT of brown. That certainly didn’t deter the curator of the spec, as they doubled-down on the choice with Heritage seats in Cognac Leather. Is it too much of a good thing? We’ll let you decide.

  • Retrospective: Dames Point Bridge Commission Bentley Continental GTC at Last Year’s Amelia Concours

Retrospective: Dames Point Bridge Commission Bentley Continental GTC at Last Year’s Amelia Concours

As the automotive community gets ready for The Amelia weekend March 6-9, we wanted to take a look back at one of the cars that very quickly grabbed our attention on site last year. Amidst the main show field sat an installation by Bentley, and within that this very unique Continental GTC.

One of the things we love about companies like Bentley is their readiness to jump into tailored and commissioned builds, with display cars for key events like The Amelia offering a perfect opportunity to show off their capabilities. This car, appearing to pay tribute to The Dames Point Bridge as seen on its infotainment screen, is fitting in that it harks the nearby structure in nearby Jacksonville, FL. The span, part of I-295 north and south, spans the St. Johns River to connect downtown Jacksonville with points north… points such as Amelia Island, FL that The Amelia calls home.

At the heart of any Mulliner build like this is are the special touches. The car’s Silver Taupe (silvertaupe; metallic Uni; 6745; Bentley Mulliner) exterior paint is a light metallic brown that seems an obvious nod to the concrete hue of the Dames Point Bridge. Accents to that paint include a Sky Blue painted pinstripe and Carbon Fiber Bodykit Styling Specification excluding the Bootlid Spoiler. The lower brightware of the GTC is here again color matched in Silver Taupe.

Obviously, a color harkening concrete is going to be subtle, which sets up perfectly for this cabriolet’s more bold cabin specification.

Inside, the tribute is to the blue waters of the St. Johns River, the interior leather receives Bentley’s Color Split D configuration, with primary hide being striking Sky Blue, with secondary hide of Beluga and accent hide and seat bolsters in Stratos.

Frankly, the level of specification for a display car befitting a venue such as The Amelia is staggering, so we reached out to Bentley to get the full Mulliner specification for this remarkable interior. Unsurprisingly, it’s a substantial list. It includes:

    • Bespoke Colour Split (Based on Colour Split D):
    • Beluga Secondary Hide.
    • Sky Blue Main Hide.
    • Scratos Accent Hide.
    • Seat Bolsters in Stratos.
    • Steering Wheel 6 O’Clock Spoke in Sky Blue.
    • Concrast Gear Lever and Steering Wheel Accent Tab in Scratos.
    • Contrast Stitching to Standard Areas with Additional Seat Piping in White.
    • Addiditional Contrast Stitching to Door Armrests in White.
    • Piano Black Veneer:
    • Sky Blue Pinscripe to Fascia and Door Waistrails (Including Upper Bullseye Vane).
    • Bentayga Brushed Metal Finish to Centre Console.
    • Concrast Stitching to Inner and Outer Diamonds of MDS Quilt Pattern in Stratos.
    • Concrast Mulliner Steering Wheel Honeycomb Stitching in Stracos.
    • Embroidered Bentley Emblems – Contrast in Stratos.
    • Personalised Jacksonville Seven Bridges Collection Treadplate.
    • Personalised Dames Point Bridge Overlay on Bentley Rotating Display.
    • Mulliner Overmats:
    • Beluga Carpet.
    • Beluga Binding and Scitch.
    • White Micropipe.

The list of additional standard order book options for this Dames Point show car is also robust. On the outside, this included 22-inch ten spoke wheels painted black, Touring Specification, Blackline Specification, Styling Specification, Black Roof, LED welcome Lamps “By Mulliner”, and standard brakes with black painted calipers. Order book options inside the car include carpets matched to secondary hide, front seat Comfort Specification, Mood Lighting Specification, Naim for Bentley audio, Bentley Rotating Display, heated single-tone 3-spoke steering wheel, Leather Specification and Mulliner Colour Specification.

What will Bentley bring for 2025? We’ll all have to wait and see.

    Why We Love It:

We’re solid fans of “tone-on-tone” cars, where the exterior and the interior are coordinated as the same color, perhaps off by a degree of shade. Now, throw in an unexpected color like brown and you’re playing at a whole other level of originality.

In the case of this G82-generation M4 Competition, that exterior color is BMW Individual Sepia II Brown and it’s paired with Tartufo Brown Leather. No doubt brown-on-brown is going to be polarizing, but to the people who get it this car likely has a whole other level of attraction.

  • Market Find: Ipanema Brown RS 6 Avant at Audi Naples

Market Find: Ipanema Brown RS 6 Avant at Audi Naples

What: 2025 Audi RS 6 performance
Color: Audi exclusive Ipanema Brown (ipanemabraun; metallic uni; LY8Y / 7V ; Audi)
    Chassis: WUA1DBF25SN903766
    Mileage: New, Undisclosed
    Price: $159,270
    CarFax: N/A
    Window Sticker: Link
    Location: Audi Naples, Naples, FL
    Sales listing: Link

    Why We Love It:

Here’s an interesting turn of events. We’re always interested in dealerships apparently selling a new tailored build apparently without any dealer markup as this appears to be. We’re even more fans of salespeople inside the store who are motivated to snap initial photography and get the word out to enthusiasts online. Such is the case with this 2025 RS 6 performance in Audi exclusive Ipanema Brown over Cognac Brown Leather.

Though the link isn’t embeddable, Trevor Fehr from Audi Naples posted the car and basic details over on the Audi Club North America Classifieds Facebook Group HERE. Gold star to Trevor, who also named the color and the specs and options (Matte Carbon Package, Bang & Olufsen Advanced sound, Executive Package, Black Dinamica Headliner, Driver Assistance Package, RS Sport Exhaust), sharing photos and even a grab of the window sticker that proved essential to our finding the car for sale online at his dealership.

Why was that essential? Well, over at the dealership’s site, photos aren’t up yet and it’s mislabeled in the description as Goodwood Green, which is a great Audi color but clearly not the same as Ipanema Brown and also quite a bit more common in Audi exclusive parlance.

What’s so special about Ipanema Brown. It’s always been a very exclusive color at Audi, used over the years for auto show cars in exotic world gatherings like the Geneva and Paris motor shows. @Auditography once shot video of one, getting reposted on Motor1 under the headline “Audi RS 6 Avant with Ipanema Brown Paint is Peak Wagon”. We’d tend to agree.

Back to this particular car, Trevor Fehr from Audi Naples shared in that post to the Audi Club Classified Facebook Page that the car is in inventory and won’t last long. Being so unique and not laden with annoying markup, we’d tend to agree with that assessment. If you are interested. Move quickly and reach out to Trevor when you call the dealership since he was kind enough to share it. Also, let him know you saw it on Tailored Driver.

Market Find: 2014 Audi exclusive Teak Brown Metallic S4

    What: 2014 Audi S4
Color: Audi exclusive Teak Brown Metallic (Teakbraun; metallic UNI; LZ8W; Audi)
    VIN: WAUBGAFL1EA027881
    Mileage: 113,361
Price at Time of this Writing: Available upon request

    Window Sticker: N/A
    Location: Eau Claire, WI
    Dealer listing: Link

    Why we love it:

We’re always interested in a one-of-one, and this Audi exclusive Teak Brown Metallic S4 is just that. A claimed sixteen S4s were painted in this hue, but just one was paired with the uber-rare two-tone Chestnut Brown interior. Moving beyond the uniqueness of this S4, we start to see where the initial Tailor of this driver perhaps missed a box or two. The lighting quick S-tronic gearbox is a choice that, while we would’ve opted for the 3-pedal version, we can respect due to the practicality and ease of use provided. However the combination of MMI-low (base spec) with Bang and Olufsen (high spec) audio is a bit of a head scratcher. Omitting Audi’s torque vectoring sport differential? That’s nearly unforgivable. And the base wheels? We advise whoever is fortunate enough to pick this Tailored Driver up to immediately start cruising Facebook Marketplace for OEM ‘Peeler’ wheels.
