Now this is exciting! Audi’s Q8 e-tron is pretty rare, moving just under 6,000 units in 2024 when counting both standard and S variants. When was the last time you saw an SQ8 e-tron in the wild? Exactly. Beyond that, this particular SQ8 e-tron is finished in what we assume to be NATO Olive Green. Why assumed? Well, we’ve reached out to a number of Dealer and Corporate contacts, and can’t seem to get much in the way of a confirmation. Adding to the mystery is the CarFax- one owner, 5,211 miles, and claimed delivery in Virginia (no Dealer specified)n zero service history and now on offer at Audi Palo Alto. Why is this significant? For starters, Audi’s US has offices in Virginia, Michigan, and California, with California being home to both the Design center in Malibu, and their Innovation center, conveniently located just 10 short miles from Audi Palo Alto. Finally, Audi corporate employees can keep their car for roughly this amount of time before trading for the next. So is this an ex-executive Tailored Driver? Signs point to it being incredibly likely.

Okay, this is both not a North American spec car nor is it old enough for easy import. It’s so special though, we’re making an exception. We figure the motivated owner who can afford it likely isn’t terribly worried about importation and road registration in the U.S. or Canada. At least, that was the excuse we’re telling ourselves to add this car to our blog.
The P1 was McLaren’s first hypercar since the legendary F1. In its time, it teed up against the likes of the Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari LaFerrari. 375 cars were built, making it more exclusive than either the Porsche or the Ferrari.
The car you see here was delivered new to Qatar, and is painted a non-specified shade of “Matte Green”. It’s one of “only a handful” to boast matte paintwork according to RM. And while that exterior is a bit subdued military spec, the interior is decidedly more rowdy in McLaren Orange. The orange continues to the P1 graphics and McLaren badges front and rear that are typically painted in red. Also orange are the brake calipers, wheel caps, tops of the rear spoiler, hydraulic rams, top of the engine and side skirts just aft the front wheels.
Beyond the seats, McLaren Orange accents continue through the interior including contrast stitching, P1 logos in the headrests, upper dashboard and steering wheel. Elements such as switchgear for the IRIS system, powertrain management, trim surrounding the start button and light and mirror switches on the driver’s side door are also color-matched in McLaren Orange.

At the lower end of the tailored market is this rare SLK roadster with AMG appearance and Designo Electric Green paint. For its age, this car has remarkably low mileage, though it’s showing its fair share of wear and tear.
Fortunately, modern car auction sites such as Cars & Bids have made considering these sorts of car about as easy as they can with an expectation of photos depicting imperfections in detail. This listing takes that seriously, with close ups of the imperfections.

Some Tailored Drivers come with more of a story than others, and if written, this Driver‘s page count would be somewhere between War and Peace and The Bible. The incredibly brief version is that this GT3 was repossessed wearing a half-completed widebody prototype, and at some point transitioned from being a vehicle to being someone’s living quarters. It was then passed around for a bit, until eventually the current seller set out to bring it back to presentable. With a full glass-out respray (and probably a lot more!), the car is presentable and could be just the no-reserve ‘deal’ someone is after.
Since the Audi showroom operated by Scherer Sport is in Germany and not in the USA, we’re not running this as a market find. Nevertheless, this Frankfurt-area Audi dealer appears to have a showroom full of new RS 6 Avants that is worth paying attention to as posted on their Facebook Page.
At the front of that lineup, quite literally, is this example in Oak Green Pearl Effect (oakgrünperleffekt; metallic uni; Q82; Audi). Not to be confused with Porsche’s Oak Green Metallic that we’ve also seen painted on Audi exclusive commissions, the Audi take on Oak Green tends to be a little less dark and a little more gold.
Scherer doesn’t confirm interior details on this car, though it appears to be a tailored Audi exclusive specification on the inside. It’s primarily black, though features accents including bolster panels in Cognac. This is a guess though, so those particularly interested in the interior specification should reach out to Scherer directly HERE.

It is now available both with the TWIN TURBO combustion engine in the 483 HP version, the 542 HP Trofeo version, and with the 100% electric Folgore powertrain.
At The I.C.E, surrounded by snow-capped mountains and the most famous frozen lake in the Engadin region of Switzerland, the GranCabrio on display features the Verde Giada body color, with black brake callipers, and 20” (front) and 21” (rear) wheels with Crio (Imola) diamond-cut gloss black design. The interior is in an ice-coloured perforated full-grain leather, with the Maserati Trident logo embroidered on the headrest. From the discount tailored rack comes this well preserved and rare specification BMW 525i Touring we found listed over on Cars and Bids. Whether or not you count it as truly tailored is up to you. The exterior color of Slate Green was a standard offering on the E39. And, though we haven’t yet found it in period catalogues, the interior specification of Stone Green and Black doesn’t appear to be listed as special order on the attached Monroney window sticker.
So, it’s a rare spec then and not a tailored ride. Even still, it’s a rare specification that includes tone-on-tone coloring with green on the outside and green on the inside. That all makes it very tasteful.
Alas, it does have an automatic transmission so the true obscure wagon nerds who are seeking gears they can row may find that part a disappointment, but close inspection of the attached photos over on Cars and Bids also shows very detailed record keeping for this car’s nearly 200,000 miles logged, not to mention well-preserved condition in the many photos.

Porscheflation aside, this $149,992 992.1-generation 911 Carrera S has a lot going for it. Brewster Green is always a hit regardless of application, as are cloth-centered seats and three pedals. But what really does it for us on this particular Tailored Driver is the restraint shown on the build. No heritage pack, no carbon brakes, just a traditional Paint to Sample choice for what never quite became a daily driver. We’d be more than happy to right that wrong, and feel that this Tailored Driver represents a good value when compared to non-PTS comps.
According to Porsche Club of America’s Rennbow website, Acid Green (acidgrün; non-metallic Uni; 2M8; Porsche) first came available in 2011 on the 911. Where it really took hold though was as a presence in the 918 program that would launch a few years later. The 918, of course, was a hybrid and pushing the “green” nature of Porsche’s hyridized and models like the Cayenne Hybrid made it the perfect attention-getting accent for these vehicles.
Acid green seems to hark 70s era neon green colors, though is considerably more saturated and thus intense. By contrast, it makes 70s era neon greens almost look washed out. To this day, it remains a fairly regularly seen offering within Porsche’s Paint to Sample program.
Aud’s Goodwood Green (goodwoodgrünperleffekt; metallic UNI; Z6X; Audi) was introduced in the early 2000s, quickly making its way to the RS 4 Avant (B5), then TT (Mk1), A4 and S4 (B6), S6 and RS 6 (C5) and S8. Unlike other Audi greens, Goodwood was close enough to British Racing Green to be universally appealing. No doubt this wasn’t lost on Audi designers and marketers who named the color for the historic British Estate that plays home to a historic racing circuit plus incredibly exclusive racing and automotive events.
Despite the appeal of British Racing Green-like colors in the market, Goodwood didn’t prove to perform particularly highly when it came to install rates. Cars offered with Goodwood as standard remain relatively rare in their respective places, however the color has done much better within the Audi exclusive special paint program where it remains a popular choice.
