Twice a year, the Pantone Color Institute publishes the Pantone Fashion Color Trend Report, its preview of popular and innovative colors that provides important stimuli for the world of design and fashion. In the latest issue for New York Fashion Week (NYFW, 6 to 11 September 2024), Pantone presents Turbonite – the first time the report has featured a customized color from an automotive brand. Since the end of 2023, Porsche has been sharpening the look of its Turbo derivatives with this elegant metallic grey tone. The sports car manufacturer and the color specialist will celebrate the publication of ‘The Story of Turbonite’ with a high-profile event ahead of NYFW.

Stuttgart/New York. “Every designer and graphic artist knows the Pantone color cards. In the same way that the Porsche 911 is the archetype of all sports cars, for more than 60 years the US company’s color standard system has been the reference work for everyone that uses colors in design,” says Michael Mauer, Vice President Style Porsche. “We are proud to be the first outside brand represented in Pantone’s Fashion Color Trend Report. Turbonite is unique. An innovative, timeless, strong, but not loud color that gives our Turbo derivatives an unmistakable, self-assured look. Like all Porsche colors, the newly developed color shade was created over several years in a labour-intensive creative and development process.”

The target group for Pantone’s Fashion Color Trend Report encompasses the entire design and fashion world. The color trends that it forecasts significantly influence future collections. “Car design and fashion have inspired each other for many years. Trend scouts very closely observe what’s new and what can be adapted,” says Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute. “In our opinion, Turbonite has the potential to become an iconic color and shape the perception of the Porsche brand for years to come. Simply put, this metallic grey tone has that certain something. We are happy to reward the courage it took to develop this exclusive color by including it in our Pantone Fashion Color Trend Report Spring / Summer 2025/2026.”

In August, Porsche celebrated the 50th birthday of the 911 Turbo with a special edition, while also commemorating all Turbo derivatives as a special, highly emotional part of the brand. A limited anniversary model of the 911 Turbo S and a Taycan Turbo S will be present at the ‘Porsche x Pantone’ event as part of the NYFW, illustrating that irrespective of body shape and drive concept, Turbonite creates a unique look all by itself.

    About Turbonite
Gold-tinted elements create the elegant, metallising effect of Turbonite. The top layer exhibits a contrasting satin-matte finish. For the Porsche Turbo derivatives across all model lines, the lettering on the rear, the Daylight Opening (DLO) and the borders of the side windows are finished in Turbonite, which is also the dominant color in the exclusive crest. All the range-topping high-performance models feature this crest on the front of the car, as well as on the lightweight alloy wheels and the steering wheel. Depending on the model line, further details such as the inlays in the front aprons, the spokes, or the aeroblades in the light alloy wheels can be finished in this exclusive color.

Additionally, selected components in the interior, for example the trim strips and the belt straps, as well as a number of controls such as the mode switch and the air conditioning controls, also come in Turbonite. In this case, too, the exact scope depends on the model line. In combination with a black interior, Turbonite is also used as a contrasting color for the decorative stitching on the seats, door panel trims, instrument panel and floor mats.

    About the Porsche color programme
At the start of 2024, Porsche revised and emotionalised the color scheme for all model lines. Contrasts, Shades, Dream and Legends are the names of the categories for former standard, metallic and special colours. These reflect a variety of topics, and their emotional labels make it easier for the customer to choose a colour.

Alongside the standard color programme, the sports car manufacturer offers even more individualised paintwork with ‘Paint to Sample’ and ‘Paint to Sample Plus’. With ‘Paint to Sample’, the focus is on the availability of classic Porsche colors recognisable from the company’s history. At present, the range across all model lines comprises more than 170 colors. ‘Paint to Sample Plus’ also offers the option of creating highly individual colors based on customer specifications.

About the Pantone® Fashion Color Trend Report

  • Tailored on a Budget: Suzuka Grey 2018 Audi S5 Coupé

Tailored on a Budget: Suzuka Grey 2018 Audi S5 Coupé

One of the things we love about market watching for tailored automobiles is when we find an exceptionally cool spec out there on the market and priced so that even someone on a budget can pick up something bespoke. Take for example this 2019 Audi S5 Coupé (VIN# WAUR4AF53JA073988) in what appears to be Audi exclusive Suzuka Grey Metallic that just dropped in the pre-owned fleet of Audi Minneapolis.

The color confirmation is a little confusing because the dealer’s own website (HERE) lists the car as Daytona Grey Pearl. Photos show it’s clearly not that darker grey initially made popular on early R8s and B7 RS 4 models. It’s also not white, that we’d forgive you for mistaking given the lightness of the shade. No, another listing site we use (shhh, it’s our secret weapon) confirms the car as both Audi exclusive and Suzuka Grey.

Suzuka Grey is another early Audi R8 and B7 RS 4 color, though even more rare. It’s also super light, with just a hint of blue or lavender depending on the angle. Nowadays, Suzuka is still used on cars like the RS e-tron GT, and Audi Japan just revealed their own special edition A8 Gran Turismo Limited available in Suzuka Grey as well. As Audi exclusive paint colors go, it’s popular amongst Audi fans though a bit obscure outside the orbit of the four rings.

Given the popularity at Audi, Suzuka is not an uncommon choice amongst exclusive colors from Audi’s palette. That its’ painted here on an early B9 Audi S5 Coupe is also sweet. Audi has just recently ended production on coupe versions of the A5/S5/RS 5, meaning cars like this are probably destined to be even more coveted by enthusiasts. That this one is a fully-loaded Prestige package with black leather and carbon fiber trim cement it as a very desirable spec. That it’s a first year for the B9 S5 with 3.0-liter Turbocharged V6 makes it both the first year for the current B9 generation (pre-facelift of course) assures us it should be priced affordably. In that it’s priced at $35,299 as of this writing, and with 34,365 miles we’d argue these make it an exceptionally approachable specimen should you wish to step into a special build from Audi exclusive.

Check out the dealer’s listing with more photos HERE.

Market Find: Paint to Sample 1992 Porsche 911 (964) in Marble Grey with Exclusive Interior Touches

With so many 964 era Porsche 911s getting snapped up for bespoke builds from the likes of Singer, RWB and more, clean examples of coupes are becoming harder and harder to find. Make them later production years (1992-1994) when Porsche was on the ropes, low mileage or laden with exclusive paint or interior trim and you have something extra special. You have cars like this Marble Grey example found over at Ryan Friedman Motor Cars in Glen Cove, NY.

This is a one-owner Carrera 4 (all-wheel drive) example (VIN# WP0AB2969NS420563), with desirable 5-speed manual transmission and with just 38,149 miles logged. It’s the further specification from the factory though that really grabs our attention.

That Paint to Sample Marble Grey almost seems to harken more modern Porsche uber light grey colors like Chalk, Crayon or Fashion Grey. It’s reportedly the only car of its kind to leave the factory in this shade.

The original owner didn’t just stop at a unique paint color though. Subtle touches enrich the cabin, including matching Marble Grey piping around the black leather seats. It also gets additional leather trreatment on the doors, dashboard and center console, plus a wooden shift knob and e-brake handle that would have otherwise been leather as standard from the factory.

Ryan Friedman Motorcars shares the full build list, so we’ve included it here:

Featured equipment/factory-ordered options: L998 – paint to sample (Marble Grey); VD – black; C02 – US Standard Emissions; XC9 – Dark Rootwood Shift Knob; XD4 – Wheel caps with colored Porsche crest; XF6 – Leather covered panel of the center console (under handbrake lever); XF7 – Leather covered tray behind parking brake; X09 – Special center console; X32 – Dark Rootwood parking brake lever; 331 – Cassette-radio Becker Porsche CR-1; 383 – Sports seat, left, electrical height adjustment; 387 – Sports seat, right, electrical height adjustment; 454  – Automatic speed control; 494 Amplifier; 650 – Sun-moon-roof.

First Audi exclusive Pics for Updated RS 3 Sedan & Sportback

Whenever Audi officially reveals a new model, Audi Deutschland’s typically adds more content on its consumer website. At the every least, the official model website is made live, and sometimes the option-specific configurator is as well.

Clicking over there, we found model-specific pages for the RS 3 Sportback and RS 3 Sedan. There’s no configurator tool just yet, but there are plenty of marketing photos including two depictions of the cars in Audi exclusive paint.

In the case of the RS 3 sedan, it’s Merlin Purple (merlin purple; pearl effect; 4B / LZ3W / Z3W; Audi). And in the case of the RS 3 Sportback it’s Arrow Grey.

We’ll keep an eye out for whenever the configuration tool goes live, but for now enjoy these pics.

If you’re looking for an F82 Comp that checks most boxes, this one could be it. Clean title, low mileage, BMW Individual color and, clean CarFax. It’s slightly modded, but this could be the ONE for a proper enthusiast.

Here is a BMW Individual Grigio Telesto 2018 BMW M4 Competition with about 34,000 miles on it. Some mods include Active Autowerks Equal Length Resonated Midpipe, KW Has Lowering Springs, and Paint Protection Film on Front Bumper, Hood, Front Fenders, and Rear Quarter Panels. Bonus points for PPF, gotta protect that paint!

Seller states: “All service has been done on time. Oil changes, brake fluid flushes, brake pads, etc. Tires all have 8/32 or more of tread, zero leaks, and zero curb rash on any of the wheels. The car is bone stock engine-wise, has never been tuned, etc. It has been a weekend driver and garage kept for its entire life.” They even mention taking it to a shop in Costa Mesa for a pre-purchase inspection.

This definitely feels enthusiast-owned and you can tell the car was looked after. This is a win in our book. You can check out the Craigslist Ad HERE for more information. More photos below.

  • Porsche Ushers In Return of Slate Grey with Slate Grey Neo

Porsche Ushers In Return of Slate Grey with Slate Grey Neo

Porsche chose the introduction of the Macan 4S, a middleweight take on the new electric Macan, to confirm its reintroduction of an iconic grey color made famous by Steve McQueen. Slate Grey Neo will now be made available for the Macan E. Interestingly, it also appears to be a standard color on the new 992.2 Porsche 911 GTS hybrid.

If you’ve ever watched the iconic Steve McQueen movie Le Mans, you probably remember the opening of the movie where McQueen’s character rolls through the city of Le Mans’ old historic center and pausing to stop in front of the Roman-era cathedral. In that scene, he’s driving a Slate Grey 911S. Over the years, the movie and that car have all enjoyed icon status. In fact, it left such an impression on McQueen that he ended up owning an identically specced car back at home in Los Angeles.

As Porsche has reformulated some of its classic colors for modern cars and painting with a series of “Neo”-named hues, that it would revisit Slate Grey was probably always to be expected. The overall results are certainly very attractive.

Interestingly, though Porsche confirmed Slate Grey Neo for the electric Macan 4S, it didn’t reveal any photos of that car in that particular color just yet. When we searched the brand’s photo stock inventory though, we did find shots of the new 992.2 GTS hybrid in the same color and have formatted them here for this story.

Lamborghini Lounge Porto Cervo opens its doors for the 6th summer in a row

    [source: Automobili Lamborghini]

Sant’Agata Bolognese/Porto Cervo, ITALY  Automobili Lamborghini has created an exclusive and luxurious Lounge in Porto Cervo for the sixth summer in a row. This summer, the Lamborghini Lounge Porto Cervo, located on Promenade du Port in via Porto Vecchio, will welcome Lamborghini owners traveling to Costa Smeralda as well as greet new customers at exclusive events and driving activities on some of Sardinia’s most beautiful roads under extraordinary sunsets. The lounge will remain open until September 10th, accessible by appointment, serving as the hub for test drive opportunities of the new Lamborghini Revuelto[1] and Urus Performante[2] and location for exclusive events organized by Lamborghini dealers.

All Lamborghini Lounges, whether permanent (such as those in New York and Tokyo) or temporary (such as in Doha or Dubai), are a point of reference for Lamborghini VIP customers and guests, combining the lifestyle of Lamborghini with the latest products and embracing at fullest the brand’s DNA. The Lounge Porto Cervo, with its 600-square-meter inside area and additional private patio, offers an immersive 360° brand experience through several elements, with furnishings designed in collaboration with partners Living Divani, Lamborghini scent developed together with Culti Milano, the Lamborghini footwear collection designed with Tod’s, and the 3T bike inspired to Lamborghini design and colors.

Inside, the main stars are two of the most recent super sports cars from Sant’Agata Bolognese: Revuelto the first super sports V12 hybrid plug-in and the “two hearted” Urus SE[3]. The new Lamborghini Revuelto, showcased in Ad Personam Grigio Artis (grey) color featuring Nero Ade and Rosso Andra (red) contrast interiors, is the marque’s first V12 super sports plug-in hybrid HPEV (High Performance Electrified Vehicle) and represents a new paradigm in terms of performance, sportiness and driving pleasure from its unprecedented new architecture; innovative design; maximum-efficiency aerodynamics; and a new carbon frame concept.  The recently presented in Beijing, Urus SE, the first Plug-in Hybrid Super SUV, featuring new design, on-board technology and a V8 twin turbo engine that together with the electric powertrain offers a luxurious and high-performance SUV experience with 800 CV. The Super SUV is showcased in Arancio Egon (orange) launch color in combination with Arancio Apodis (orange) interiors.

Guests are welcomed by the distinctive Lamborghini scent in every corner of the lounge and can enjoy the finest Italian Lavazza espresso in the living area furnished by the brand’s Italian partner Living Divani. While exploring the lounge, guests will be embraced by Tod’s corner that is showcasing the branded Gommini and Sneakers – expression of Italian lifestyle. The guests can then take a closer look at the 3T bike Racemax Boost x Automobili Lamborghini. A fully made-in-Italy e-bike inspired by Lanzador, the Lamborghini vision concept car, with a carbon frame equipped with the efficient Mahle X-20 motor and a flat bar handlebar for a more excellent handling and comfort. The experience for the guests continues exploring – dedicated areas to Accessori Originali – the Lamborghini dedicated program to After Sales accessories specific for each Lamborghini model with Akrapovic racing exhausts for Urus S.

A key area of the Lounge Porto Cervo is the seasonal Ad Personam Studio: the dedicated area where even the most demanding Lamborghini customers can release their creativity to configure the super sports car of their dreams. In a vast assortment of samples, a plentitude of exterior colors, interior upholsteries, finishes, and details available at Lamborghini can be selected in the virtual configurator with a Lamborghini product specialist. The brand’s main Ad Personam Studio, located in Sant’Agata Bolognese, showcases more than 400 colors in its portfolio, offering customers infinite possibilities to express their personality in their new super sports cars.

    Urus SE
The lastly presented and the first hybrid plug-in version of the Lamborghini Super SUV, opens a new chapter in the history of the marque. The SE features a new design, optimized aerodynamics, unprecedented on-board technology and an 800 CV hybrid powertrain, the PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) version moves on Urus S in terms of comfort, performance, efficiency, emissions and driving pleasure. Thanks to its “two hearts”, thermal and electric, the torque and power values are the highest ever, giving the SE a unique place in its category and boasting an 80% reduction in emissions.

The twin-turbo 4.0 V8 engine has been re-engineered to work in optimal synergy with the electric powertrain of the SSUV. The Internal Combustion Engine develops 620 CV of power (456 kW) and 800 Nm of driving torque; the combustion unit is combined with an electric powertrain delivering 192 CV (141 kW) and 483 Nm of torque. In delivering maximum output the main focus has been on the calibration strategy between ICE and e-motor, reaching a total output of 800 CV to ensure an optimal power curve in every driving mode and on every surface. A 25.9-kWh lithium-ion battery is situated below the load floor and above the electronically controlled rear differential.

The design of Urus SE highlights the dynamics of the form, accentuating the vehicle’s sportiness and muscularity. The front section features a new hood with a floating design, where the absence of the cut-off line gives a sense of continuity and amplifies the athletic style of the Urus SE, recalling certain new styling concepts introduced by the Revuelto.  Other new elements include the headlight clusters that feature matrix LED technology, introducing a brand-new light signature inspired by the tail of the Lamborghini brand’s bull, along with a redesigned bumper and front grill.

Unique in its category, the Urus SE offers greater torque and power at any rpm or driving condition thanks also to “tamburo”. The system develops a total power output of 800 CV (588 kW) at 6000 rpm and a total torque of 950 Nm already available at 1750 rpm and up to 5750 rpm, ensuring best-in-class performance from every angle. This is also thanks to a further enhanced weight-to-power ratio: 3.13 kg/CV (compared to 3.3 in the Urus S). The Urus SE sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds (Urus S: 3.5) and from 0 to 200 km/h in just 11.2 seconds (Urus S: 12.5), reaching a top speed of 312 km/h (Urus S: 305 km/h). These figures make the SE the most powerful Urus ever and the fastest production car in the segment, setting a new benchmark in the Super SUV category.

    Revuelto
The Lamborghini Revuelto is the first super sports V12 hybrid plug-in HPEV (High Performance Electrified Vehicle). Revuelto defines a new paradigm in terms of performance, sportiness, and driving pleasure from its unprecedented new architecture, innovative design, maximum-efficiency aerodynamics, and a new carbon frame concept. An output of 1015 CV is delivered from the combined power of an entirely new combustion engine together with three electric motors, alongside a double-clutch gearbox that makes its debut on a 12-cylinder Lamborghini for the first time.

The powertrain combines high specific power elements: the new 128 CV/liter combustion engine works synergistically with two front axial flux motors that deliver an outstanding weight-to-power ratio, with a radial flux electric motor positioned above the first eight-speed double-clutch gearbox debuting on a 12-cylinder Lamborghini. The three electric motors are powered by a lithium-ion high specific power (4500 W/kg) battery pack that also supports a fully electric drive mode.

Carbon fiber, produced via artisan craftsmanship in the Sant’Agata Bolognese factory, is the principal structural element within the supercar, used not only in the monofuselage and frame but also in all elements of the bodywork apart from the doors and bumpers. The extensive use of carbon fiber and lightweight materials, combined with the potent engine power, contributes to achieving the best weight-to-power ratio in the history of Lamborghini: 1.75 kg/CV.

Revuelto combines the performance attributes with outstanding new aerodynamic design to deliver performance figures at the peak of its segment: acceleration from 0-100 km/h in only 2.5 seconds; 0-200 km/h in less than seven seconds; and a top speed of more than 350 km/h. These numbers fit with its exceptional dynamism thanks to the introduction of electric torque vectoring and four-wheel drive available also in fully electric drive mode, ensuring the Revuelto super sports car expresses its amplified qualities both on track and in daily driving.

[1] Consumption and emission values of Revuelto; Fuel consumption combined: 10,3 l/100km (WLTP); Power consumption combined: 78,1 kWh/100 Km (WLTP); CO2-emissions combined: 276 g/km (WLTP)
[2] Fuel consumption and emission values of Urus Performante; Fuel consumption combined: 14,1 l/100km (WLTP); CO₂-emissions combined: 320 g/km (WLTP)
[3] The vehicle is not yet offered for sale and is therefore not subject to Directive 1999/94/EC. The fuel consumption and emissions data is in the type approval stage.

The exquisite car follows the launch of a limited-edition line of Bentley-inspired sneakers, by the leading force of the customized shoe industry, Dominic Ciambrone – also known as The Surgeon.

With 20 international art fairs, more than 1,200 galleries and thousands of artists in attendance, Miami becomes a magnet for design lovers during the week of Art Basel. As such it’s the perfect showcase for the artisanal artwork of Mulliner, Bentley’s in-house personal commissioning division, to celebrate the power of individuality, with three unique vehicles that fuse artistic expression and unrivalled craftsmanship – crowned by the Flying Spur Hybrid by The Surgeon.

Inspiration for Flying Spur Hybrid x The Surgeon

The Surgeon is a leader in the customised shoe industry, famed for his effortless fusion of high fashion and street culture. A visit to Bentley’s Mulliner division in early 2022 inspired him to create a limited run of ten pairs of bespoke sneakers, featuring Bentley craft signatures such as diamond quilting and cross stitching as well as his signature ‘Surgeon’ skull and scalpel monogram.

The sneakers were the springboard for a second collaboration, based upon Bentley’s recently-acclaimed Flying Spur Hybrid. Its elegant lines and handcrafted interior made it an ideal canvas for The Surgeon’s creativity. With the combination of a 2.9 litre V6 combustion engine and powerful E-Motor, it exhibits the next step in Bentley’s Beyond100 journey towards a future of electrified luxury.

The car’s specification leaves nothing to be desired. The Mulliner Blackline specification replaces exterior polished chrome with all-black brightware, while the Styling Specification includes a front splitter, side sills, rear diffuser and boot lip spoiler in carbon fibre.

    Gloss, Satin and Bronze Combined

The Flying Spur Hybrid x The Surgeon uses an impactful exterior palette in a dramatic yet harmonious combination parallel to his own brand aesthetic. Ciambrone chose a duo-tone paint finish of Anthracite (anthracite; metallic UNI; 6706 / 9560114; Bentley) over Anthracite Satin (anthracitesatin; metallic matte; 6779 / 9562007; Bentley) , creating an understated expression of power and assurance. The monochromatic palette is relieved by the sparing use of Satin Bronze, which appears on the lower front, side and rear bumper. A bespoke Satin Bronze pinstripe draws the eye the full length of the Bentley, while the 22” Satin Anthracite wheels feature a Satin Bronze pinstripe around the outer rim. The same finish is used for the Surgeon badges on the D pillars and the Hybrid badge on the fender. The finishing touch is provided by an illuminated Flying B radiator mascot in Gloss Black.

    Design and Craft in Harmony

From the moment you enter the cabin of the Flying Spur Hybrid x The Surgeon, you’re drawn into a world of individuality and creativity. The motif on the outer sill panel reads ‘The Surgeon’ while the inner sill plate conveys his personal philosophy, ‘Never Stop.’ Another delightful detail, bespoke LED welcome lamps, project the skull and crossed scalpel logo onto the ground to guide your entry.

Inside, the upholstery features Linen as the main hide on the seats, doors and lower fascia while the secondary hide colour, Beluga, features on the fascia top, centre through-console and rear parcel shelf. Contrast stitching in Bronze features on the seats, seat piping and in a cross-stitch pattern on the steering wheel. The namestyle ‘Surgeon’ is embroidered in Bronze on the seats, above which the headrests carry a blind embroidered Surgeon logo.

Walnut veneer adorns the cabin, and Ciambrone has celebrated Mulliner’s craft skills by specifying contrasting finishes; the upper veneer is open pore Crown Cut Walnut, giving a tactile satin finish, while the lower veneer is in High Gloss Crown Cut Walnut and features a laser-etched repeat motif of the skull and crossed scalpel logo. A Gloss White pinstripe separates the two veneers, stretching across the fascia from door to door and passing across the upper vanes of the bullseye air vents. The rear doors also feature Walnut inserts in ‘three dimensional’ diamond patterning.

Grand Black gloss veneer clads the front and rear centre consoles, with the Surgeon logo overlaid in chrome on the rear cupholder. Uniting the design of exterior and interior, Bronze Satin features on the B+O speaker cones, while a bespoke shade of matching Bronze hide can be seen at the six o’clock tab on the steering wheel and as a covering for the gearlever.

The Bentley rotating display in the centre of the fascia offers a choice of three faces; analogue dials, digital display or walnut veneer. When displaying the latter, the namestyle ‘Surgeon’ is seen in gold overlay. Further tactile and visual interest is provided by Bentley’s unique knurled finish on controls and touchpoints.

    Three automotive artworks

The reveal of this exceptional Flying Spur Hybrid caps an evening’s celebration of the art of bespoke automotive creation at Art Basel Miami. Shown alongside the Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid x The Surgeon are two very different and vibrant commissions, both with unique intentions. The Sager Strong Continental GT Speed Convertible was inspired by Hall of Famer and sartorial iconoclast Craig Sager, and specifically the jacket he wore to accept his Jimmy V Perseverance Award in 2016. Proceeds from its auction set for February 2023 will be donated to the fight against blood cancer. Meanwhile, a Continental GT V8 Convertible is inspired by the work of renowned Brazilian-born artist and Miami resident Romero Britto, encapsulating his colourful life philosophy and celebrating his pop art success.
