Decidedly more aggressive than prior generations, the current generation SL (R232) is now marketed as an AMG or Maybach rather than a Benz product depending on year which admittedly can be a bit confusing. But regardless of what they want us to call it, this Mercedes-AMG SL 55 (VIN: W1KVK8AB1RF021180) in Manufactur Hyper Blue Metallic (hyperblau; metallic UNI; 964; Mercedes-Benz) is a stunner.
Currently on offer at Rusnak Mercedes-Benz in Arcadia, California with an MSRP of $157,680, this Mercedes-AMG SL 55 would fit right in on the roads of nearby Pasadena or Palm Springs. It’s the kind of purchase that can be serious when it needs to be, but proves you’re not afraid to stand out from the greyscale crowd.

Stuttgart/Pebble Beach. The Mercedes‑Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series (provisional figures, combined energy consumption: 13.7 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 312 g/km; CO2 class: G)[1] is the sportiest model in the Maybach brand’s history. Also new is the uniquely cohesive combination of colours and materials for the exterior and interior, with the Maybach pattern as a linking design element. These special accents appear throughout, from front to rear, inside and out. There will be two curated design concepts for the open-top two-seater at market launch: The Mercedes‑Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series Red Ambience is characterised by a new two-tone paint finish of obsidian black metallic over MANUFAKTUR garnet red metallic. In the Mercedes‑Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series White Ambience, obsidian black metallic contrasts with MANUFAKTUR opalite white magno. The exceptionally brilliant red and the elegant white both embody sensuality, beauty and lightness. They perfectly express the philosophy and driving experience of the new model. Other exterior colours are possible upon specific customer request. The interior features sustainably tanned, crystal white MANUFAKTUR Exclusive nappa leather and trim parts in gleaming silver chrome. Market rollout starts in Europe in spring 2025, with other markets to follow.
“Our customers love something special. The Mercedes‑Maybach SL Monogram Series adds a sporty two-seater to our model family for the ultimate open-air pleasure. It combines a dynamic driving experience with everything that characterises a Mercedes-Maybach: excellent craftsmanship, exquisite design details and fine materials.” – Daniel Lescow, Head of Mercedes-Maybach, Mercedes-Benz Group AG
Iconic design refined with exclusive Maybach styling elements and double scoop In keeping with the brand philosophy, the Mercedes-Maybach SL offers a holistic sensory experience. The contours of the brand-specific, chrome-finished radiator grille are illuminated, as is the finely integrated MAYBACH lettering. The distinctive bonnet bears an upright Mercedes star and a chromed fin running front to rear along its centre. To further enhance the exclusivity, the obsidian black bonnet is available upon request with the Maybach pattern incorporated in graphite grey uni. This process is very complex and is partly done by hand. First, the bonnet receives a base coat, which is then sanded by hand. The Maybach pattern is then printed onto it. Each part of the process is technically sophisticated and must be executed with the utmost precision. Next, the bonnet is coated with clear matte lacquer, sanded by hand and finally finished with a further coat of clear matte lacquer.
The inside of the headlights is finished with high-quality accenting in rose gold. The dedicated front skirt emphasises the vehicle’s width with horizontal air intakes. The windscreen frame is finished in gleaming chrome. A further chrome insert graces the sill cladding. The Mercedes‑Maybach SL runs on 21-inch forged wheels in 5-hole design or multi-spoke design.
The extensively insulated acoustic soft top consists of light black fabric, with the Maybach pattern subtly incorporated in anthracite. The rear is characterised by rear lights with the Maybach signet, a brand-specific rear skirt with chrome trim, a dedicated diffuser design and tailpipe trims with a signature horizontal bar. Behind the seats, an aerodynamically designed double scoop reinforces the individual look. Together with the chrome fin on the bonnet, it gives the two-seater particularly elegant and sporty proportions when viewed from the side, especially with the top down.
Interior features Maybach-specific equipment and radiant, crystal white leather Inside, sustainably tanned, crystal white nappa leather creates an exceptionally exquisite ambience. It features on the door panels, the centre console and on the brand’s signature comfort seats. The seat upholstery has a new floral design. The space behind the seats is also finished in white leather. The galvanised seat backrests and silver chrome trim provide a striking contrast.
The fully digital instrument display and the electrically adjustable centre display incorporate the Maybach-specific start-up animations and display styles. Further brand hallmarks are the steering wheel, the stainless-steel pedals and the stainless-steel door sill trims.
High level of driving and acoustic comfort combined with superior eight-cylinder driving experience The highest standards also apply to driving and acoustic comfort. Comprehensive measures guarantee a quiet and comfortable, typically Maybach, driving experience. These include a noise-optimised exhaust system, an extensive insulation and absorption package as well as a comfort-oriented suspension set-up and soft engine mounts. The combination of a 4.0-litre biturbo engine with 430 kW (585 hp) and smooth-shifting 9G‑TRONIC automatic transmission with adapted accelerator pedal characteristics ensures the supremely dynamic driving pleasure expected of a Maybach. The fully variable 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive offers high traction even in slippery road conditions, thus increasing driving safety. The standard-fit rear-axle steering combines agility and stability for a manoeuvrable and safe driving experience.
Exclusive collection from Maybach Icons of Luxury As befitting the new Mercedes‑Maybach SL Monogram Series, Maybach Icons of Luxury will offer a curated collection in boutiques and the online store from market launch. This includes a leather jacket, sneakers, a scarf, a tote bag and a dog bag. Their design is inspired by the materials and colours of the open-top two-seater.

Unique Mercedes-Maybach S-Class inspired by the design of the legendary SPHINX 12mR yacht
Restoration of the racing yacht led to the founding of the Robbe & Berking Classics shipyard in 2008
[source: Mercedes-Benz]
Stuttgart/Flensburg. The love of unique craftsmanship, clear aesthetics and timeless elegance unites Mercedes‑Maybach and the silver and yacht manufacturers Robbe & Berking. They share the ambition to design individualised products for connoisseurs of the extraordinary. To mark the 150th anniversary of the Flensburg silver manufactory, Mercedes-Maybach has created an exclusively refined S-Class model. Its design is based on the legendary SPHINX 12mR yacht, which was built in 1939 and became known as the “night-blue beauty” in the history of sailing yachts. It was the first classic wooden yacht that Robbe & Berking restored. This gave rise to the company’s yacht shipyard, Robbe & Berking Classics, in 2008. The Mercedes-Maybach S 680 (combined energy consumption: 14.2-13.2 l/100 km | combined CO2 emissions: 323-300 g/km | CO2 class: G)[1] anniversary vehicle has the same colour scheme as the SPHINX: a two-tone paint finish consisting of nautical blue metallic in the upper section and MANUFAKTUR patagonia red bright in the lower section of the bodywork. They are separated by a filigree pinstripe in MANUFAKTUR opalite white metallic to match the yacht’s white waterline.
“Like the yacht SPHINX, our exclusive Mercedes-Maybach S-Class anniversary vehicle epitomises craftsmanship, elegance and attention to detail. We congratulate Robbe & Berking on their anniversary and look forward to continuing our successful collaboration.” Daniel Lescow, Head of Mercedes-Maybach, Mercedes-Benz Group AG
“This wonderful anniversary vehicle is another sign of the friendship that has long connected Maybach and Robbe & Berking. We are also united by shared passions: Craftsmanship, the finest materials and timelessly beautiful lines – on the road as well as on the water and on the table.” Oliver Berking, Managing Director of Robbe & Berking GmbH
Interior in crystal white nappa leather with orion grey topstitching and wood trim with aluminium decorative strips The interior of the one-off Mercedes-Maybach S-Class shines in Maybach MANUFAKTUR Exclusive nappa leather in crystal white with diamond quilting. The seats, headliner, door centre panels and storage compartment under the central display are upholstered in this fine material. Orion grey decorative stitching stands out against the white leather in selected areas – an analogy to a sail. Another elegant contrast is created by the exclusive wood walnut trim with light-coloured aluminium trim strips. They echo the look of a ship’s deck. The nappa leather cushions in the rear are also customised. The smooth, triangular side surface in silver grey pearl contrasts with the crystal white leather with diamond topstitching in orion grey and MAYBACH embossing. The design of the cushions is rounded off by piping in silver grey pearl nappa leather.
Other equipment highlights for ultimate comfort include electric comfort doors at the rear, MANUFAKTUR door sill trims with red illuminated MAYBACH lettering and the Burmester® high-end 4D surround sound system. Also on board are the MBUX high-end rear-seat entertainment system and a cooling compartment with two silver-plated champagne goblets from Robbe & Berking. Since 2002, the goblets from the silver manufacturer founded in 1874 have lent the Mercedes-Maybach models a special lustre. They are available on request and are becoming increasingly popular with customers. This exclusive Mercedes-Maybach S-Class has already been reserved for a customer and is therefore no longer available for sale.
Legendary SPHINX racing yacht restored according to original plans The SPHINX belongs to the famous “12 Metre R class” (12mR yacht). The large and elegant yachts in this class were built from 1907 to 1987 and, as the premier class of sailing, sailed for the America’s Cup from 1958 to 1987. They are the epitome of the classic yacht and the dream of every sailing enthusiast. However, they are significantly longer than 12 metres. The “12 Metre” designation is the result of the legendary “International Rule”, which the major sailing nations agreed on in 1906 for the construction of racing yachts.
The 21.48-metre-long SPHINX was built in 1939 by the Abeking & Rasmussen boatyard as a club ship for the North German Regatta Association (NRV) in Hamburg. She was the last of a series of ten 12-metre boats to be launched. She later changed hands several times and sailed under different names. For example, she served the German Navy under the name “Ostwind” from 1958 to 2004 as a training ship for officer candidates. Among other honours, she won the Blue Riband for the fastest yacht on the Flensburg Fjord nine times. In 2005, the passionate sailor Oliver Berking bought her together with two friends. With attention to detail and great passion, they restored the racing yacht according to the original plans. Under her original name SPHINX, they made the classic wooden yacht accessible to the sailing world again. In 2008, Oliver Berking founded the Robbe & Berking Classics yacht shipyard in Flensburg’s city harbour in order to preserve and continue to use the expertise gained. This shipyard has developed into a globally sought-after specialist for the restoration of classic sailing yachts and the construction of faithful replicas of lost classic boats.

With the Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Grand Edition” (WLTP: fuel consumption combined: 16.0 l/100km, CO₂ emissions combined: 363 g/km)[1], Mercedes-Benz is highlighting the exceptional status of the performance off-roader, which has been part of the legendary off-road family’s portfolio since 2002. Limited to 1,000 units, the special model is painted in MANUFAKTUR night black magno, with gold-coloured details creating an exciting visual contrast. They emphasise the particular design elements that trace the direct lineage of the modern off-road vehicle icon to the first G model from 1979.
“The Mercedes-AMG G 63 is now also undoubtedly regarded as an automotive icon and demonstrates its unique position among performance off-road vehicles partly through its powerful drive, the AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension and the AMG-specific driving programmes. The exclusive interior and extensive equipment further underscore the singular and special nature of this strong-spirited SUV. With the expressive and limited Grand Edition, we are celebrating the success story of the G 63, which is far from over.”
Michael Schiebe, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH & Head of the Top End Vehicle (TEV) Group
For the first time, the “Grand Edition” features the AMG logo and the Mercedes star in kalaharigold magno. The expressive special model is fitted with 22-inch AMG forged wheels with a cross-spoke design in tech gold with a matt black central locking nut and a Mercedes star also in tech gold. This colour tone is again used in the side foiling of the “Grand Edition”. Also included is a customised AMG Indoor Car Cover. With its breathable outer layer of tear-resistant synthetic fibre fabric and anti-static flannel inner fabric, it protects the vehicle from dust and scratches in the garage.
Expressive special model: Golden detailing even in the interior
The interior of the Mercedes-AMG G 63 “Grand Edition” is also defined by the contrast of black and gold. Upon entering the vehicle, occupants are greeted by “AMG” emblems on the black door sill trims, which have illuminated borders. The seats are finished in G Manufaktur black nappa leather with contrasting gold stitching. Plaques with a gold AMG logo and gold edging are set into the backrests. The floor mats are also finished in black and decorated with gold stitching. The roof grab handles are finished in nappa leather. The trim piece in the inlay of the grab handle on the passenger side is carbon with copper thread and also bears a high-quality badge with the words “Grand Edition”. Other trim parts of the interior are finished in carbon with copper thread. The AMG Performance steering wheel in DINAMICA microfibre features a steering wheel clasp with a G 63 plaque.

“Final Edition” limited to a total of 1,500 units
Exclusive equipment details including MANUFAKTUR full leather package

30 years ago, Mercedes-Benz equipped the G-Class with an eight-cylinder engine for the first time: the 500 GE V8 made its debut in an exclusive small series in 1993 and marked the first high point in a history of cultivated performance on and off the road. With the “Final Edition” Mercedes-Benz now celebrates the 30th birthday with a limited special model of the G 500 (WLTP: combined fuel consumption 15.7‑14.7 l/100km, combined CO₂ emissions 356 – 334 g/km[1] – V8 petrol engine, Displacement: 3.982 cc, Rated output, kW/hp: 310/421). It is available in three colour variants, each limited to 500 units. You can choose between the metallic paint obsidian black, the MANUFAKTUR paint opalith white magno and the new MANUFAKTUR paint olive magno.
“The Final Edition is our 30th birthday gift for the G 500, which in 1993 was considered the trendsetter and harbinger of the high-end off-roader in the luxury class. With its exclusive equipment details, the limited special model is also a fitting parting gift from the V8 biturbo engine in the G 500.” Dr. Emmerich Schiller, Chairman of the Managing Board of Mercedes-Benz G GmbH and Head of the Off-Road Vehicle Division at Mercedes-Benz
The “Final Edition” also features 20-inch AMG light-alloy wheels in a 5-twin-spoke design, which are painted in the body colour and have a high-sheen finish in combination with the MANUFAKTUR olive magno paint finish. For the other two variants, they are black and have a high-sheen finish. In addition, the special model features “FINAL EDITION” lettering, from the outer protective strip to the insert in the spare wheel cover. As part of the MANUFAKTUR logo package, doorknobs with an embossed logo complement the high-quality appearance of the “Final Edition”. There is also a logo projector in the exterior mirrors, which projects the “G” logo and the lettering “STRONGER THAN TIME” onto the asphalt when stationary. The spare wheel ring in high-gloss chrome, plus other add-on parts in both the body colour and high-gloss chrome underline the exclusivity of the limited special model. In addition, buyers receive an exclusive indoor car cover with “STRONGER THAN TIME” lettering to protect the vehicle from dust and scratches.
Since its introduction, high-quality interior equipment has been closely associated with the G 500. The “Final Edition” continues this tradition: as soon as the occupants get in, they are greeted by illuminated “FINAL EDITION” lettering on the door sill trims. The lettering can also be found on the insert of the grab handle for passengers. A genuine silver coin in the form of an edition-specific plaque with the appropriate lettering is attached to the back of the vehicle key. In addition, the Superior Line with the Burmester® surround sound system, the Active Multicontour Seat Package Plus and the seats in two-tone MANUFAKTUR Nappa leather are part of the standard scope of the special edition.

Stuttgart. The Mercedes-Benz brand stands for luxury and fascination like hardly any other. The design, styling and different equipment lines express the personal lifestyles of customers. With the new “MANUFAKTUR” label, Mercedes-Benz is doing even more justice to customers’ growing desire for more individuality, and is enhancing the existing product portfolio with additional exclusivity and luxury: selected materials which are predominantly processed by hand, exclusive paint finishes and high-quality embellishments in the interior offer a wide range of options for an individual appearance. A corresponding programme has already been available for the G-Class for several years: the “G manufaktur” presents its own selection of materials and colours specially adapted to the vehicle architecture. With the introduction of the new MANUFAKTUR label, Mercedes-Benz now also offers a corresponding customisation programme for other model series such as the CLS, the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door coupé and the S-Class long-wheelbase, as well as the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.

In addition to a choice of engine, colour, interior equipment and comfort features, Mercedes-Benz customers are offered many options with which they can tailor their dream vehicle to their needs. For those who are also looking for something special in terms of paintwork, leather upholstery and interior design, Mercedes-Benz now offers further, exclusive customisation options for selected model series with the new MANUFAKTUR label. These combine luxurious craftsmanship, the highest quality materials and fascinating design.
Mercedes-Benz customers can expect an ambience characterised by an equally aesthetic and extraordinary colour concept, the finest materials, sensual comfort and exclusive trim elements in piano lacquer or wood. The excellence of the craftsmanship is visible and tangible in the embroidery, the leatherwork and the carefully applied trim elements. The attention to detail is particularly highlighted in the Mercedes-Benz S-Class long-wheelbase and the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, by the MANUFAKTUR lettering in chrome look on the centre console and as discreet embroidery on the parcel shelf, as it is a result of a high-quality manufacturing process with selected, first-class materials.
One of the most expressive features of a vehicle is its colour. The MANUFAKTUR range offers an exclusive selection of special paint finishes – both silky matt and high-gloss metallic, or rich non-metallic colours. Some of these colours are reminiscent of Mercedes-Benz history. MANUFAKTUR silicon grey uni was already part of the colour range until the early 1960s, and e.g. adorned the legendary 300 SL “Gullwing” as a special colour. MANUFAKTUR graphite metallic and MANUFAKTUR olive metallic were among the exclusive exterior options in the 1980s, while MANUFAKTUR vintage blue uni was a popular choice for the E-Class (W123) and the S-Class (W126) in the 1980s. The trend towards a satin finish is reflected in fine, elegant finishes such as MANUFAKTUR cashmere white magno and MANUFAKTUR kalahari gold magno, or the sporty MANUFAKTUR night black magno. All MANUFAKTUR paint finishes exude high quality, and underline the fascination of Mercedes-Benz vehicles and their dynamic lines.
Fine, high-quality nappa leather with unusual contrasting colour concepts characterises the ambience in the interior. This is where the classic MANUFAKTUR deep white/black comes back to life, as does the iconic special upholstery colour MANUFAKTUR pastel yellow/black, which was available for the S-Class until 2012. Also in combination with black, other leather colours such as MANUFAKTUR nut brown/black, MANUFAKTUR truffle brown/black or maritime MANUFAKTUR yacht blue/black stand for the highest individual elegance. The intricate diamond-pattern stitching further enhances the exclusive look, and ensures particularly pleasant seating comfort. The package also includes tone-on-tone additional cushions with an embroidered logo – depending on the model and equipment requirements, either the Mercedes-Benz star, the double-M rhombus of Mercedes-Maybach or Mercedes-AMG lettering in the floor mats, for example. If the customer chooses one of the optional Emblem packages available for the long-wheelbase version of the S-Class and the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, the trademarks can also be embroidered in gold or platinum to further enhance the luxurious ambience.
In combination with the selected upholstery, customers receive further refined components for a coherent and consistently high-quality overall impression. For example, the handcrafted, two-tone MANUFAKTUR leather steering wheel as well as the door centre panels, the armrest and the lower section of the instrument panel are also lined with fine nappa leather. The precise stitching and excellent fit are testament to the high level of craftsmanship of the saddlers who fashion all leather components from the finest materials.
Another noble highlight that can be additionally selected is the MANUFAKTUR headliner made entirely of nappa leather with double-stitched Maybach rhombus. It consists of a rear central panel in a contrasting colour with diamond quilting and a middle central panel in a contrasting colour without diamond quilting. The harmonious interior is complemented by high-quality thick-pile floor mats edged with the chosen nappa leather in a contrasting colour. Depending on the line and the choice of Emblem package, they are embroidered with the Mercedes-Benz star, the Maybach logo or Mercedes-AMG lettering. The brand logos are also repeated on the door sill panels, where they are additionally illuminated and bordered by the current Mercedes Star pattern or, in the case of the Mercedes-Maybach, by the current Maybach pattern.
A real eye-catcher that underlines the brand presence is the MANUFAKTUR surround lighting with animated projection. When the doors are opened, animated Mercedes-Benz or Mercedes-Maybach patterns using sophisticated LCD technology light up and elegantly illuminate both the front and rear entry areas. This special lightshow is made possible by four LCD projectors embedded in the front and rear doors, which deactivate themselves after ten minutes.
