    Why we love it:

Hear us out. Yes, we know the E 55 AMG Station Wagon was sold in the United States. They’re exceedingly rare, especially in solid survivor condition, but they were sold here. Still, anyone who loves these cars or is seeking a unique long roof may find this one worth going through the extra effort of importation. That it’s old enough for easy import is one obvious reason, but more so is the unique build specification this car got from the factory. This sort of specification would have been extremely difficult if not impossible for anyone in North America to order, so it’s worth noting… even if it does have a dash of turn-of-the-century Y2K kitsch in the color choices.

Regarding the color, it’s a bit of a puzzle. It’s listed as “green” and 027 Designo-LCP paintwork, then later in the thorough option code listing we see Z98 PAINT FINISHES OUTSIDE THE SAMPLE CARD. So, we know it’s special paint, but we don’t know what color as “027” is effectively ambulance white in the lexicon of Mercedes-Benz color codes.

Looking over the photos, the color almost appears to be a predominantly blue metallic that fades to green from certain angles or in certain lighting conditions. So, we’re not even sure if it’s blue or green. Maybe it’s both.

Inside, the car has a period “Avantgarde” interior package, which is typically two-tone leather with segments of the seats in some more bold color. In this case, that color is green that would have been popular in the late 1990s when this car was produced. It’s not a timeless shade of green, but it definitely puts you in the period and plays on the theme.

We’re going to go ahead and list the listing description and options (translated to English with Google Translate) for reference here. We found them all in the car’s listing over on AutoScout24.

Market Find: 2024 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG in Manufaktur Olive Metallic

The Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG is a rare car, and painted a special paint color does make it even more uncommon. So, it’s important to underline that this is an exceptionally rare car just as we’re about to tell you it’s pretty common.

Okay, it’s not exactly grey C-class common, but it’s a highly sought-after premium SUV (G63) in a the commonly chosen special paint color Manufaktur Olive Metallic. Think of it as a Gulf Blue 911. One sort of begets the other.

And why shouldn’t it? If you can afford one of Merc’s current big G-wagens, then ordering it in this color is a solid move. The overall look is stunning, especially when paired with Espresso Brown and Black Leather as this specimen.

Market Find: Mercedes-Benz Manufaktur Cote d’Azure Blue AMG GT 53

While on a recent trip to Philadelphia’s Main Line to take part in Radnor Hunt Concours weekend festivities, we had a moment to swing through some local dealerships and kick tires. You see, this is where many Philadelphia’s wealthy families call home. This means many of the brands featured here are not hard to find in the average parking lot, putting the ability to stick out at a premium. For Tailored Driver, that means it’s a target rich environment.

Case in point is this Mercedes-Benz Manufaktur Cote d’Azure Blue (cotedazurblau; metallic UNI; 385; Mercedes-Benz) AMG GT 53 sedan, sporting Manufaktur Nut Brown and Black Signature leather (VIN: W1K7X6BB2RV002155) that was found in the window of Mercedes-Benz of Devon. Part of the store’s larger Manufaktur section (yes, they have that), this AMG GT is exactly the level of subtlety you’d expect from the area’s generational-wealth clientele.

This Mercedes-Benz Manufaktur Cote d’Azure Blue AMG GT 53 sedan is currently on offer for an asking price of $151,900 at the aforementioned Mercedes-Benz of Devon, Pennsylvania. Learn more about this Tailored Driver, here.

As part of the Formula 1™ Singapore Grand Prix, Mercedes‑AMG presents the highly exclusive 2025 AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ “Motorsport Collectors Edition.” With numerous unique design elements and details, it creates a close link to the Mercedes‑AMG PETRONAS F1 Team. Even the Obsidian Black Metallic paint is inspired by the team’s current Formula 1™ race car. The same applies to the hand-painted star pattern with silver Mercedes stars that adorn the side and rear of the vehicle and the PETRONAS-colored accents that extend from the front fenders over the beltline to the roof. The front splitter, air inlet flics of the front fascia, side sill panels and rear diffuser also feature PETRONAS-colored accents.

The 21‑inch AMG forged split-spoke wheels are finished in black with PETRONAS-colored rim flanges. The striking wheels are fitted standard with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires (295/30 ZR 21 at the front and 305/30 ZR 21 at the rear). In addition, an AMG carbon ceramic high performance braking system with six-piston fixed calipers and 16.5-inch brake discs at the front and single-piston floating calipers at the rear is equipped standard.

The AMG Aerodynamics Package and AMG Exterior Carbon Fiber Package, with front splitter, side sill trims, rear diffuser and fixed rear wing in high quality carbon fiber, underscore the special model’s connection to motorsport. The AMG Extended Night Package further elevates the unique exterior with darkened radiator grille, model badging and Mercedes star at the rear of the vehicle. An AMG fuel filler cap in Silver Chrome also emphasizes the special nature of the vehicle.

    PETRONAS-colored interior elements

Numerous PETRONAS-colored accents are highlighted throughout the interior. The standard AMG Performance seats feature black Nappa leather/microfiber upholstery with PETRONAS-colored stitching and headrests with an embossed AMG crest. AMG carbon fiber interior trim elements compliment the heated AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa leather/microfiber with PETRONAS-colored stitching. This exclusive contrast stitching is also showcased on the door panels, instrument panel and center console. Another unique detail is the AMG door sills finished in black with PETRONAS-colored illumination. The center console features a “1 out of 200” badge, underscoring the exclusivity of the special model.

A Burmester® High-End 3D Surround Sound System, with 15 speakers and 1,170 watts of system power, is among the extensive standard equipment for this special model. The Driver Assistance Package, 360-degree camera, MBUX Interior Assistant, head-up display and GUARD 360o vehicle monitoring are also equipped standard. AMG TRACK PACE records a wealth of data when driving on the racetrack.

Each Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ “Motorsport Collectors Edition” also includes a custom, edition-specific AMG indoor car cover constructed with a breathable, tear-resistant synthetic outer fabric and antistatic flannel inner fabric.

  • Color Check: Mercedes-AMG 63 GT in Copper Orange Magno

Color Check: Mercedes-AMG 63 GT in Copper Orange Magno

Mercedes-AMG turned to Facebook to drop a few photos of this very interesting specification. The copper orange theme is strong here, making you wonder you wonder if the Pumpkin Spice is getting a bit strong at the office espresso bar.

Seriously though, MANUFAKTUR Copper Orange Magno is a color we sometimes see on G-Wagens, though looks exquisite here on an AMG GT 63 S E Performance. Also interesting is the badging. It’s hard to tell, but the typically silver or polished aluminum brightwork such as the new yet classic AMG badge on the hood and the AMG lettering on the trunk appear to be copper finished themselves? Are they, simply carrying the orange light that bathes the car in this studio shoot or is there a new copper finish available?

If you know, let us know in the comments and if we find out for sure we’ll update this story.

  • Color Check: Green Hell Magno Mercedes-AMG GT R at Pebble Beach

Color Check: Green Hell Magno Mercedes-AMG GT R at Pebble Beach

Paying tribute at Pebble Beach to the three-pointed star’s competition at the Nürburgring was this unique Mercedes-AMG GT R surrounded by legendary racing cars of the same marque. Mercedes aimed to celebrate its own 130 years in motorsport as a theme at its Monterey Car Week installation, and the specification on this GT R did just that.

GT3 versions of the car are stalwart competitors in the VLN and 24 Hours of Nürburgring, an iconic race at an iconic track also known as “The Green Hell”. It’s from that race that this medium green hue from MANUFAKTURE takes its name – Green Hell Magno (greenhellmagno; pearlescent metallic matte; 376; Mercedes-Benz).

We weren’t able to gain access to the inside of this one, but the specification listing for the car confirms the interior is black MB-Tex with Dinamica.

  • Color Check: Rubellite Red Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E at Pebble Beach

Color Check: Rubellite Red Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E at Pebble Beach

Leave it to Monterey Car Week to bring back memories of one of the best perks of new car shows like Geneva, Frankfurt or New York. Though those new car expos are now long gone, an expansive Mercedes-Benz installation at Pebble Beach during Monterey Car Week proved whomever runs Mercedes’ auto show fleet still knows how to order an incredible tailored spec. Take for instance this Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E in stunning MANUFAKTUR signature Rubellite Red metallic (rubellitrot; 660 / 3660; Mercedes-Benz).

Rather than digging too far into the performance details of the AMG GT 63 S E that you can find anywhere, our focus will be solely on the tailored build spec. Rubellite Red Metallic is a classic deep burgundy, a color that accents well with red touches on the tail model badges, the amber brake calipers and also with the handsome new satin finish Mercedes-AMG badging on the nose. The cockpit of the big Merc accented exquisitely, tailored in MANUFAKTUR signature Sienna Brown with Black segmentation.

With fewer and fewer auto shows, the tradition of highly unique factory tailored cars that get displayed on show stands and offer just a bit of subtle provenance for those who know is something special. It’s a practice the automotive enthusiast world needs more of, so thanks to Mercedes for bringing this and more to Pebble Beach. Look for more highlights from this stand in the coming days.

  • Market Find: MANUFAKTUR Hyper Blue Metallic Mercedes-AMG SL 55 Roadster

Market Find: MANUFAKTUR Hyper Blue Metallic Mercedes-AMG SL 55 Roadster

Decidedly more aggressive than prior generations, the current generation SL (R232) is now marketed as an AMG or Maybach rather than a Benz product depending on year which admittedly can be a bit confusing. But regardless of what they want us to call it, this Mercedes-AMG SL 55 (VIN: W1KVK8AB1RF021180) in Manufactur Hyper Blue Metallic (hyperblau; metallic UNI; 964; Mercedes-Benz) is a stunner.

Currently on offer at Rusnak Mercedes-Benz in Arcadia, California with an MSRP of $157,680, this Mercedes-AMG SL 55 would fit right in on the roads of nearby Pasadena or Palm Springs. It’s the kind of purchase that can be serious when it needs to be, but proves you’re not afraid to stand out from the greyscale crowd.

See the full listing on Rusnak Mercedes-Benz of Arcadia’s website, here.

  • Market Find: 2016 Mercedes G 63 Crazy Color Edition in Galactic Beam

Market Find: 2016 Mercedes G 63 Crazy Color Edition in Galactic Beam

Back in 2016, the purple color offered in the aptly named Mercedes-AMG G 63 Crazy Color Edition was Galactic Beam(galacticbeam; metallic UNI; 171; Mercedes-Benz). It was one of five very distinct hues that were made available on Mercedes’ then-new W463 G-Wagen. Now, we’ve found one (VIN# WDCYC7DF6GX254809) over at Ryan Friedman Motor Cars in Glen Cove, NY.

Check out the attached photos and you’ll glean what’s already been known about Galactic Beam. It’s a very special purple that shifts to different hues when the light hits it at various angles. It morphs from an intense purple, to pink, to even orange or bronze.

Other colors in the Crazy Color Edition included Solar Beam (yellow), Alien Green, Tomato Red and Sunset Beam (orange). However, it was Galactic Beam that was the most expensive to build and thus to order.

One Galactic Beam specimen of the G 63 Crazy Color Edition is now available at Ryan Friedman Motor Cars. As of this writing, it’s reportedly logged 32,918 miles. So, if you’re searching for a very unique G-Wagen, or perhaps just need to see this color in person, check it out at their showroom in New York HERE.

    • Colour accents in MANUFAKTUR kalahari gold magno
    • Limited run of 100
    • Extensive equipment packages as standard

    [source: Mercedes-Benz]

Mercedes-AMG presents a further MANUFAKTUR special-edition model. The exclusive limited edition of 100 is based on the SL 63 4MATIC+ (Combined energy consumption: 13.4-13.0 l/100 km | combined CO₂ emissions: 306-296 g/km | CO₂ class: G)[1] with the 430 kW (585 hp) 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine and fully variable all-wheel drive. The MANUFAKTUR colour kalahari gold magno (kalaharigold; metallic matte; 677; Mercedes-Benz) is a key feature of the SL 63 MANUFAKTUR Golden Coast inside and out. Interior trim in this exquisite shade matches the exterior paintwork. The matte-black 21-inch AMG forged wheels feature a 10 twin-spoke design and offer a subtle colour contrast, with the rims and hub caps also finished in MANUFAKTUR kalahari gold magno. Black brake callipers with white AMG logos further highlight the vehicle’s special status.

The extensive standard equipment includes the AMG Night Package Exterior, AMG Night Package Exterior II and AMG Aerodynamic Package. Details in high-gloss black include the front splitter, A-Wing trim, exterior mirror casings, sill cladding trim and rear-skirt inlays. Furthermore, the double tailpipe fairings, grille-panel fins, model badge and the Mercedes star on the rear are all finished in black chrome. The Aerodynamic Package encompasses additional flics on the wheel arches and air intakes in the front skirt, additional flics on the side air outlets in the rear skirt and a diffuser panel. All elements are painted in high-gloss black.

The standard-fit AMG Performance seats are upholstered in black Nappa leather with elegant diamond quilting and golden topstitching. The multi-contour seat function and seat cooling provide added comfort on long journeys. The AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa leather is likewise individualised with golden topstitching. This also applies to the deep-pile foot mats featuring the AMG logo, black leather edging and golden topstitching. The trim element on the front-seat backrest is painted in MANUFAKTUR kalahari gold, too. The finishing touch is the exclusive “MANUFAKTUR Golden Coast” edition badge on the centre console.

[1] The specified values were determined according to the prescribed measurement procedure WLTP (Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure). The ranges given refer to the German market. The energy consumption and CO₂ emissions of a car depend not only on the efficient use of the fuel or energy source by the car, but also on the driving style and other non-technical factors.
