Market Find: 2018 Audi exclusive Ara Blue Crystal Effect S4 Sedan

    What: 2018 Audi S4 Sedan
Color: Audi exclusive Ara Blue Crystal Effect (arablau; metallic uni; LX5J; Audi)
    VIN: WAUC4AF46JA187660
    Mileage: 75,508
    Price: $25,900
    CarFax: Link
    Window Sticker: N/A
    Location: Evolution Imports, Bristol, PA
    Dealer Listing: Link

    Why We Love It:

Audi’s Ara Blue Crystal Effect is the latest in a long line of truly incredible Blues to come out of Ingolstadt. This particular instance may not be the first time we’ve seen Ara on an S4, but dare we say it’s a better spec. The flat bottom steering wheel may not offer the heating element included in it’s traditionally round counterpart, but we think the trade is worth it. Less of a tradeoff is the full leather seats, whereas the prior Ara car had partial suede. Sure it may look cooler, but the feeling of sweat dripping down your back quickly negates any points earned. Ask us how we know.

  • Market Find: 2018 Porsche Paint to Sample Graphite Blue Metallic Macan GTS

Market Find: 2018 Porsche Paint to Sample Graphite Blue Metallic Macan GTS

    What: 2018 Porsche Macan GTS
Color: Paint to Sample Graphite Blue Metallic (graphitblau; metallic uni; M5G / A7; Porsche)
    VIN: WP1AG2A50JLB61999
    Mileage: 60,140 miles
    Price: $32,985
    CarFax: Link
    Window Sticker: N/A
    Location: Mercedes-Benz of Pleasanton, CA
    Dealer listing: Link

    Why we love it:

A modern Porsche, in Paint to Sample Graphite Blue Metallic, for $32k. Say what you will, but that’s a compelling statement. Graphite Blue Metallic was one of the more interesting standard colors from the 991 generation of Porsche’s 911, appearing nearly Nardo Grey at first glance, but with just enough cyan to have a clear differentiation. Applied here to a Macan GTS, it’s subtle enough to not require a card carrying extrovert as owner, but certainly will stand out from the other Macans you see around town. We’d happily add this to our stable as a daily.

  • Market Find: 2018 Lamborghini Ad Personam Verde Draco Metallic Huracan Performante

Market Find: 2018 Lamborghini Ad Personam Verde Draco Metallic Huracan Performante

    What: 2018 Lamborghini Huracan Performante
Color: Ad Personam Verde Draco Metallic (metallic-UNI; 0089; Lamborghini)
    VIN: ZHWUD4ZF2JLA10642
    Mileage: 11,893 miles
Price at Time of this Writing: $335,000
    CarFax: Link
    Window Sticker: Pictured Below
Location: 1 of 1 Motorsports, Ft. Lauderdale, FL
    Dealer listing: Link

    Why we love it:

Lamborghini’s Ad Personam Verde Draco Metallic was most famously used on Lamborghini’s Murcelago press car that was thrashed on Top Gear, and second most famously on VinWiki founder and Cannonballer Ed Bolian’s resprayed high-mile LP640. But even with that relatively high level of notoriety and our opinion that it’s absolutely stunning, take rate on the vibrant albeit muted green is exceedingly low. We’re happy to see that at least one Tailor opted for Verde Draco Metallic on their Performante, and even more intrigued that this example features a VF Supercharger, methanol injection, auxiliary gauges, and OMP racing harnesses We’ll let you make of that what you will, and just let the pictures of this Tailored Driver do the talking.

Market Find: 2018 Audi exclusive Graphite Blue Metallic S4 Sedan

    What: 2018 Audi S4 sedan
Color: Audi exclusive Graphite Blue Metallic (graphitblau; metallic UNI; M5G / A7; Porsche)
    VIN: WUAC4AF45JA142578
    Mileage: 60,604 miles

    CarFax: N/A
    Window Sticker: Pictured below
    Location: Wichita, KS
    Facebook Marketplace listing: Link

    Why we love it:

The Audi S4 is a damn fine sports sedan, and we feel it represents a fairly good value in the used car market- even when Audi exclusive paint has been applied. What’s more compelling for this particular example is that of the roughly 80 pre-approved Audi exclusive hues available to customers in 2018, Graphite Blue Metallic was not one of them. The original Tailor at Walter’s Audi in Riverside, CA who spec’d this car worked with Audi exclusive directly to get this Porsche-specific color approved, and the result was well worth the effort. Graphite Blue Metallic is quite subtle in nature (see darker images below) as a vibrant grey with hints of blue, putting it somewhere between Nardo Grey and Kemora Grey in the Tailored Driver color spectrum.

    Why we love it:

At the offices of Tailored Driver, we love to put ourselves in the shoes of our Market Find’s original Tailors and try to imagine how conversations went while curating and submitting each order. With this Paint to Sample Meteor Grey Metallic 991-generation GT3, we’d assume that a 997-generation GT3 owner walked into the Porsche dealer in Plano, TX after being told that the then-new 2018 model would be available with three pedals for what was assumed to be the last time. “Great!” they said, “Order it just like my 997 and let me know when to pick it up.” You see, Meteor Grey Metallic was a fairly common standard color during the 997 years if GT3, as were Carbon brakes and Leather seats with Race-Tex accents. In other words, this exact spec, minus the black wheels, massively updated tech, and the benefits a new generation present. If we’re right, and we think we may be, this is an extremely cool example of forward-dating a proven formula to achieve a surprisingly unique Tailored Driver.

  • Market Find: 2018 Porsche Paint to Sample Viola Purple Metallic 911 GT3

Market Find: 2018 Porsche Paint to Sample Viola Purple Metallic 911 GT3

    What: 2018 Porsche 911 GT3
Color: Paint to Sample Viola Purple Metallic (veilchenlilametallic; metallic UNI; W84; Porsche)
    VIN: WP0AC2A94JS176463

Price at Time of this Writing: $209,995
    CarFax: Link
    Window Sticker: Link
    Location: Glen Cove, NY
    Dealer listing: Link

    Why we love it:

Not to be confused with the much darker Viola Metallic, Porsche’s Paint to Sample Viola Purple Metallic is a much more playful, vibrant flavor of the historically royal color. When paired with Porsche’s sporting GT3 variant of it’s iconic 911, Viola Purple Metallic represents a juxtaposition that proves its Tailor is not one to take themselves too seriously. On the inside, splashes of yellow deviate from Black leather and Race Tex, most predominantly in the form of seat belts, stitching, and headrest script. In all it’s a bold package that seems to just simply work.

  • Market Find: 2018 BMW Individual Nardo Grey M3 Competition

Market Find: 2018 BMW Individual Nardo Grey M3 Competition

    What: 2018 BMW M3 Competition
Color: BMW Individual Nardo Grey (nardograu; non-metallic UNI; P6K; LY7C/T3; Audi)
    VIN: WBS8M9C52J5J78816
    Mileage: 76,557
Price at Time of this Writing: $46,000
    CarFax: Link
    Window Sticker: Pictured below
    Location: Louisville, KY
    Dealer listing: Link

    Why we love it:

Nardo Grey had a moment in the early to mid 2010s, there’s simply no denying that. After appearing on several Audi RS models, the color quickly made it’s way to other brands with Tailoring programs like BMW (shown here) and Porsche, and shortly after spawned me-too colors like Porsche’s Chalk and BMW’s Brooklyn Grey. The staff of Tailored Driver loves a good cross-brand build, and this M3 is an incredibly well executed example. Aforementioned Nardo Grey (in BMW code P6K) is paired exquisitely with Amaro Brown extended leather, elevated by the appearance of BMW’s Competition pack seats with strategic cutouts. Sure you lose lumbar adjustment, but speed holes are just cool. We look forward to seeing additional images once this Tailored Driver is cleaned up, but at this price, it just might not last that long.

  • Market Find: 2018 Porsche Paint to Sample Grey Black Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid

Market Find: 2018 Porsche Paint to Sample Grey Black Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid

    What: 2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid
Color: Paint to Sample Grey Black (schwarzgrau; non-metallic UNI; 7A1; Porsche)
    VIN: WP0AH2A72JL145349

Price at Time of this Writing: $85,975
    CarFax: Link
    iPacket: Link
    Location: Newark, DE
    Dealer listing: Link

    Why we love it:

Chosen as the launch color for their instant classic 997.2 GT3 RS, Porsche’s Grey Black exists at the crossroads of dynamic and drab. Simple enough in theory, Grey Black is impossibly deep in the right lighting, trending much lighter or darker depending on conditions. We personally find this application exceptionally interesting on the range topping Turbo S E-Hybrid, due to it’s understated curb presence (minus the Acid Green painted brake calipers and E-Hybrid badging) while also packing a combined 680hp from its twin-turbo V8 gas and hybrid electric motors. Sub three second sprints to 60mph, a nearly eleven second flat quarter mile, and seating for four adults, this Tailored Driver is one hell of an all-rounder.

    Why we love it:

This one checks all the boxes- last year of the three-pedal GT3, Paint to Sample Auratium Green color, enough miles (over 22,000) to place added emphasis on the Driver portion of Tailored Driver, and tastefully modified to boot. Featuring full PPF coverage, HRE wheels, a Soul Performance exhaust upgrade and the incredibly cool 917-style wooden shift knob, it’s the kind of Tailored Driver you can just get in and enjoy. We just wish there were more pictures.

  • Market Find: 2018 BMW Individual British Racing Green M4 Competition

Market Find: 2018 BMW Individual British Racing Green M4 Competition

    What: 2018 BMW M4 Competition
Color: BMW Individual British Racing Green (553; 312; BMW)

    Mileage: 34,065
Price at Time of this Writing: $54,990
    CarFax: Link
    Window Sticker: N/A
    Location: Portland, OR
    Dealer listing: Link

    Why we love it:

While not often thought as a Heritage color for BMW, British Racing Green had a fling with the brand in the ’90s, appearing on the E36 M3 GT and Z3 models. Nearly 30 years later, the color still looks the business on this M4 helping it to stand out in a subtle way. We also love that this M4 has been treated to a host of Dinan goodies (Coil Overs, Sway Bars and Intake), none of which fiddle with the ECU tune. On the inside, this Tailored Driver is optioned with extended leather and DCT transmission, making it a nice, comfortable place for commuting. We think it’s a great package.
