Crewe, UK – When the 46 billion different colour and trim combinations available through Bentley’s mainstream palette don’t meet a customer’s vision for their Bentley, Mulliner – Bentley’s bespoke studio – is on-hand to create something totally unique and a one-off. After owning a number of Bentleys, an American customer wanted their new car in a precise shade of her favourite colour: pink.  Mulliner was happy to fulfil her dream supporting the personal commissioning of a bold and vibrant Bentayga Extended Wheelbase (EWB) painted in the eye-catching shade of Candy Pink.

The exterior is teamed with an interior accented with Cherry Blossom hide and matching thread that even extends to the embroidered Bentley Wings on the seats.  And naturally the customer specified a Mulliner Bottle Cooler with frosted glass soft close door, installed alongside the rear Airline seat for those moments when she chooses to be driven.

The Bentayga is an example of the growing trend among Bentley customers for personal commissions with 70% specifying at least one Mulliner feature in their car, and a clear result of the free choice that a Mulliner commission provides.

    Bespoke personalisation

Going beyond the tens of billions of specifications possible from the Bentley options list, Bentley customers are encouraged to participate in the design of unique vehicles, as part of a process that Mulliner terms ‘Co-Creation’. Vibrant colour schemes, bespoke materials and customised features are welcomed as a challenge in the Mulliner workshops by their team of designers and skilled artisans.

With a colour palette of 111 exterior paints including solids, metallics, pearlescent and satins, there is already a significant choice. Pinks are an exception, but with the expertise of the Mulliner team, the customer’s vision  was brought to life using Candy Pink and Blackline Specification provides a contemporary contrast to the exterior of the car. Door handles, exhaust tailpipes, brightware, lamp bezels, matrix and lower grilles, roof rails, and wing vents are all finished in gloss black, with tinted rear privacy glass completing the dramatic exterior look.

The interior is a showcase of craftsmanship, using Cherry Blossom hide and thread to complement the car’s exterior. Cherry Blossom leather was applied to the seats, centre console, doors, gear lever and steering wheel. A Bentayga EWB takes approximately 132 hours to manufacture, of which 24 hours are required to paint the body-in-white, and a further 18 hours to produce the trim panels and wood set for the beautiful cabin.

A bespoke interior colour split allowed for the Cherry Blossom thread to be applied to all aspects of the cabin, including the embroidered Bentley Wings. Cherry Blossom leather can even been seen edging the 100 per cent pure wool deep-pile floor mats. A specially-selected wool variety is used due to its cleanliness and purity in colour which is tested to ensure quality standards are met before use.

When it comes to craftsmanship, new colleagues gain knowledge and skills from Bentley’s Master Trainers in order to reach the upmost levels of ability, and to learn the vast array of techniques required to craft Bentley’s interiors to the highest of standards.

    Indulgent rear cabin

The Bentayga EWB offers the ultimate in rear passenger indulgence. With a larger cabin space than any other luxury competitor, it was natural for this personally commissioned Bentayga EWB Azure, to include the most luxurious features.

Firstly, the Bentley Airline Seat Specification – the most advanced seat ever fitted to a car, with 22-ways of adjustment and auto climate sensing system and postural adjustment technology. The system can apply 177 individual pressure changes across six fully independent pressure zones over a three-hour period improving comfort and minimising fatigue throughout a journey.

Housed between the rear seats, the Mulliner Bottle Cooler provides a fully integrated drinks cooler for a 750 ml bottle, with frosted glass soft close door, and two bespoke handcrafted Cumbria Crystal flutes.

Enhancing the rear cabin area further, is the inclusion of rear seat entertainment and ‘Bang & Olufsen for Bentley’. The iconic design of the B&O speaker finished in aluminium with holes drilled in variable sizes and angles and shaped to a uniquely-designed Fibonacci hole pattern. The angled holes are placed as tightly as possible to achieve the best acoustic transparency and to build a contrast to the glass-pearl blasted surface.

Today, Mulliner operates as Bentley’s bespoke division, delivering everything from personal commissions to coachbuilt cars. It offers an exclusive, face-to-face service for clients who demand the rarest and most exquisite vehicles, often co-designing features and finishes to suit the unique tastes of the individual.

The customer is said to be delighted with her purchase.  Rich Pepe from Bentley Palmyra, the supplying retailer, commented: “It was great collaborating with Mulliner and I look forward to commissioning the next truly bespoke Bentley.”

While we find any tailored car to be special, cars in the rarest of colors built in eras where rare specifications weren’t that prevalent grab us a little extra hard. Now, make it a car like and enthusiast legend like the B5 RS 4 with its Cosworth-tuned-from-the-factory 2.7-liter biturbo and wagon configuration and we’re even more enthused.

Specifically, this is a B5 RS 4 painted in Bordeaux Violet from the factory according to the dealership Garage 11 in Oxie, Sweden. We researched and couldn’t find any further reference of the color, so have not included a color code.

According to the listing, the car was sold new in Sweden and was held by its original owner until 2016. The listing states three owners, but also that Garage 11 has been in possession of the car since 2016 so the second owner wouldn’t have kept it long. In that time, it’s been driven just 42,000 km, which translates to about 26,097 miles.

The listing does mention a very few modifications. Namely, it’s got AP Racing brakes and a slightly lowered suspension.

Pricing is robust for a B5 RS 4, but we’d argue fair for rarity and low mileage condition. It’s doubtful you’ll find much of any direct comps for this car, but B5 RS 4s can run the sub-$100K spectrum depending on modifications and miles. As mentioned, Audi exclusive examples are more rare than you’ll find today because tailoring was a less popular business at the time.

One last thing, the car’s first registration is 06/2021 meaning you’ve got about a year until it’s importable into the U.S.A., though is eligible for Canada today. We’re guessing this car will appeal to a serious collector who probably doesn’t have a problem dealing with waiting for a year for importation, but wanted to make a note of it just the same.

This week, Rolls-Royce Spectre is joining clients in celebrating the breathtaking floral art displayed in the streets and residence entryways in the heart of Chelsea, South-West London. In keeping with the flower-inspired theme and reflecting the brand’s enduring connection with nature, the Spectre is finished in Velvet Orchid – one of nature’s most captivating flowers, admired for its rich colour, velvety texture and luxurious appearance – and complemented by a delicate hand-painted Peony Pink Coachline.

Floral motifs have long inspired Rolls-Royce Bespoke commissions. Nature – and flowers in particular – provide a rich language of symbolism, sentiment and beauty. This Spectre follows some recent exceptional commissions inspired by the natural world, including the celebrated Phantom Cherry Blossom and Daisy Cullinan. These creations are not simply motor cars, but deeply personal artworks – each a reflection of the commissioning clients’ values, identity and lifestyle.

It may have begun as a Porsche Carrera Cup color of the 964 era, but Ruby Star has been a popular choice for BMW Individual for a very long time. Yes, it’s polarizing, but this hot pink is also impossible to miss. It’s a bold choice, particularly for what looks like part of the new car inventory at BMW of Cincinnati North.

It’s paired here with partial Silverstone Grey and black interior that is also very handsome. Option packages include M Carbon Exterior Package, Executive Package, Driving Assistance Professional Package, M Drive Professional and Carbon Fiber Silver Thread High Glass Trim.

Market Find: Pink on Pink Final W12 Continental GTC in Beverly Hills

What: 2024 Bentley Continental GTC Mulliner W12
Color: Pink Frost (pinkfrost; unknown; unknown; Bentley Mulliner)
    VIN: SCBDT4ZG3RC017079
    Mileage: 33
Price at Time of this Writing: $459,260
    CarFax: N/A
    Window Sticker: N/A
Location: O’Gara Coach, Beverly Hills, CA
    Dealer listing: Link

    Why we love mention it:

There’s no doubt the Bentley Continental GTC you see here is polarizing. When the Bentley dealership in Beverly Hills commissions a special order car from Mulliner to celebrate the final W12 twin turbo delivery to the store, maybe it shouldn’t be so surprising that they’d go with something as bold as pink over pink.

Not much is known about Pink Frost at this time, though it’s an incredibly light and almost white pastel pink, light pastel in the vein of Porsche Chalk or Audi Cumulus Blue… but pink.

We also don’t know much about the interior specification. The car’s listing states it as “Beluga”, though it’s definitely got Bentley’s Mulliner – Bespoke Interior Color Split on the build list and we’re guessing that may have been to mirror the Pink Frost exterior color.

Whatever, the car is a one of one build by Mulliner for Bentley Beverly Hills, with other options including Mulliner – Personal Paint – Solid & Metallic, Mulliner – Bespoke Interior Colour Split, Bang & Olufsen for Bentley, Mulliner PCG – Pinstripe Fascia/Door WR, Mood Lighting with Personalised TP, Mulliner PCG – Bespoke Treadplate Plaques, Mulliner PCG – Mulliner Overmats (Front) and Mulliner – Quilted Tonneau Cover.

There’s no doubt this is a fascinating build, and a significant one named explicitly on the sill plate. For the right buyer seeking this sort of car, it is spectacular. For many others, it will no doubt cause discussion.

  • Color Check: Rolls-Royce Cullinan Series II in Morganite

Color Check: Rolls-Royce Cullinan Series II in Morganite

Rolls-Royce recently dropped basic color and specification from the Cullinan Series II and Black Badge Cullinan Series II global media drive held in Ibiza back in June. Alas, we weren’t on that drive, but we are able to share the basic color information in order to help inspire those ordering Rollers or considering Rolls-Royce hues in build specifications from other manufacturers.

First up is this Rolls-Royce Black Badge Cullinan Series II christened ‘Disruptor’. It’s finished in Morganite (morganite; non-metallic uni; R9F; Rolls-Royce). According to @rollsroycemonaco on Instagram, Morganite gets its name from the Morganite gem that is known for its soft pink color. “The coloration is of the stone is due to traces of manganese. Says @rollsroycemonaco, “This coloration is due to traces of manganese, which give it beautiful shades of pink, peach, and magnolia.”

  • European Market Find: Rubystone Red Porsche 968, Low Mileage / High Price

European Market Find: Rubystone Red Porsche 968, Low Mileage / High Price

    What: 1992 Porsche 968 Coupé
Color: Rubystone Red a.k.a. Ruby Star (sternrubin; 82N; Porsche)
    Interior: Blue
    VIN: N/A
    Mileage: 42,125 km / 26,175 miles
Price at Time of this Writing: € 74,900
    CarFax: N/A
    Window Sticker: N/A
    Location: Heteren, NL
    Dealer listing: Link

    Why we love mention it:

The Porsche 968 is (or rather was) one of the last good deals in the Porsche market. It’s also arguably one of the best Porsches of the transaxle era. And while the European market only Clubsport or the super rare Turbo are the big money versions, super low mileage, great spec and incredible condition can approach 911 money. Take for instance this Rubystone Red version sitting inventory at Porsche Centrum Gelderland in the Netherlands.

At little over 26,000 miles logged, the car is practically new. And we’d argue that while perhaps polarizing, the spec is incredible. From the 964 era Carrera Cup comes the original Rubystone Red (a.k.a. Ruby Star), and it’s paired with blue leather and partial Studio Check fabric seats.

A translation of the meat and potatoes of the listing goes as follows:

Hereby we offer you this beautiful 968 3.0 Targa with only 42,000 km! Presented in a truly fantastic color combination. The exterior in the cult color Rubystone with the interior in a combination of leather and fabric in multicolor cobalt blue. Exactly as it was delivered new to its first owner by Porsche Zentrum Alltöttnig in Germany. The original purchase invoice, many other invoices, the maintenance booklets and the original German Letter are all present.

Worth noting, while amazingly pristine, our eye is catching two potential modifications that **could** have come from the factory. These include the chin spoiler (that was possibly a Porsche Tequipment accessory) and the adjustable rear spoiler that appears to be identical to the design on the 968 Turbo. Factory replica parts like these do exist in the aftermarket, which would be less desirable on a car this original. It’s possible these were special wishes items, but that should be checked via the mentioned original purchase invoice the dealer has on file or with the Porsche Classic department in Stuttgart.

Another peculiarity worth noting on any European market 968 (or 944, or 924) is the mention of the term “Targa”. In the U.S., familiarity with G-body 80s 911 models with full open Targa roofs can be confusing when you see one of these cars listed also as “Targa”. In regard to the transaxle cars mentioned, a Targa simply refers to the very large sunroof that came on these cars from the factory.

Whether those parts are original or not, that’d be easy to rectify for an owner seeking ultimate originality. And if they’re not original and you like OEM plus upgrades from maybe the ultimate 968 model ever, consider it a bonus.

As with any of our European Market Finds, this car is older than 25 years, making it an easy import into the U.S.A. should you be so inclined.

  • Color Check: M4 Competition Cabrio in BMW Individual Velvet Orchid II Metallic

Color Check: M4 Competition Cabrio in BMW Individual Velvet Orchid II Metallic

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, BMW M is killing it in the social media game when it comes to showing off the brand’s most interesting colors and promoting their BMW Individual custom paint program. Several times a week, you can count on the team from Münich to share another unexpected paint option and this one certainly qualifies.

The car is a BMW M4 Competition Cabriolet with M xDrive, and the paint is BMW Individual Velvet Orchid II metallic (velvetorchidiimetallic; metallic; L74; BMW). This soft desaturated pink is something you definitely won’t find every day.

There’s no doubt that pinks are becoming more and more in fashion in the automotive paint color space, and it’s a testament to how normal this is. If you’d told us you’d ordered a BMW Cabriolet in a light metallic and red brake calipers we’d have probably made a hairdresser joke… yet here we are looking at this M4 Cabrio and thinking it’d make for a proper entry to a fantasy garage. Well played BMW M. Well played.

  • Market Find: 2016 BMW Individual M3 in Wildberry Metallic

Market Find: 2016 BMW Individual M3 in Wildberry Metallic

Facebook Marketplace can be an excellent place to treasure hunt for unique specification cars, as evidenced by this 2016 M3 sedan F80 sedan (wildberry; metallic; T09; BMW) painted in BMW Individual Wildberry Metallic (wildberrymetallic; metallic UNI; T09; BMW Individual) paired with Silverstone light grey interior. The car looks modified, though cleanly and minimally so, and well kept. And, for critics of the latest bucktooth BMW M3/4 generation, it’s the better-looking previous generation.

The car has 37,000 miles, making it not exactly unused, but also low mileage for its age. The owner states that he’s installed a GTS style hood, but that he still has the original that can go with the car. And while we’re sure it’s a pain to move or store, we think we’d want it even for the next owner if we purchased this great-looking Bimmer.

We’ve added photos of the car to this post, however you can find even more pictures and video along with the full listing on Facebook Marketplace HERE.
