    @PTSRS Presents Colors of Air|Water

As the space for tailored vehicles continues to grow, we’re always happy to see celebrations of and gatherings for special factory built cars. Of course the Porsche community is a leader in this, and we have news today of some majorly influential parties in that space creating a tailored party of their own.

    Who are those players?

Will Lee (a.k.a. @PTSRS on Instagram) has been cataloguing Paint to Sample and Sonderwunsch specification cars for years, and collaborated in the past on events like 000 Magazine’s Rare Shades event during Monterey Car Week, or holds his own cars and coffee gatherings in New York’s trendy meatpacking district. Even for those who haven’t attended one of these gatherings though, @PTSRS’ wake of meticulous coverage of special Porsche cars is hard to miss.

Then there’s Air | Water. Initially a second day to the long-running Luftgekühlt car show series, Air|Water was set up as a way to inject some wasser into that magical yet luft-only formula. Luft’s events, managed by Jeff Zwart and Patrick Long, have set the bar for events of this nature, highly curated and often in amazing backdrops. With Air | Water, now owners of newer Porsche models can also get in on the fun.

These two are now coming together in order to celebrate the specials with Colors of Air|Water, a show within a show. Here’s what Will shared on Facebook (embedded above).

“I am very thrilled to announce that I will be partnering with Jeff @zwart to curate “Colors of Air|Water”, a brand new exhibit at @air__water taking place on Saturday, April 26th, 2025 in Orange County, California. This is truly a dream come true.

“Colors of Air|Water will celebrate a wide spectrum of legendary Porsche colors that have graced both classic air-cooled and modern water-cooled generations of Porsches. Colors that have graced *both*, not either old or new, is the key here.

Through carefully curated pairings of the same colors on air- and water-cooled Porsches, Colors of Air|Water is a literal interpretation of the namesake goal of Air|Water to celebrate both old and new eras of Porsche.

“For example, visitors will be able to see and experience the historic Porsche color Tangerine (also called Blood Orange) on both an air-cooled Porsche from the ‘60s and a modern water-cooled Porsche from nearly 60 years later—the latter made possible by the Paint to Sample (PTS) Plus program.

With such pairings, visitors will see first-hand how the “same” color can appear either similar or remarkably different between classic and modern applications due to differences in shape and substance over time.

And we are not done yet. Colors of Air|Water will feature a second curation elsewhere. This second exhibit celebrates my favorite modern Porsche GT cars in Paint to Sample colors. Think the number 4.0 and letters R, S, and T—in the true, original spirit of @ptsrs.

In collaboration with @bramoapp, we also want to tell the stories behind each and every car at Colors of Air|Water. There is more than meets the eye with every car. Stay tuned for this soon.

Air|Water will take place at the Orange County Fair Grounds in Costa Mesa, California on Saturday, April 26th, 2025 from 9am to 3pm. Colors of Air|Water will be curated at the Plaza Pacifica Lobby by the Pacific Amphitheater within the Fair Grounds. Tickets for @air__water are now live at www.air-water.com.

Grateful to @plmotorsport, @zwart, and the @air__water team for this dream opportunity. I hope to see many of you there.

  • PTSRS Plans NYC Cars & Coffee February 18

PTSRS Plans NYC Cars & Coffee February 18

There’s no question that PTSRS is one of the most prolific social media specialists in the tailored car space, known specifically for proficiency on the subject of special build Porsche models. PTSRS has been known to throw in with special events in and around the genre, like 000 Magazine‘s Rare Shades Monterey Car Week feeder event held a few years back. Now, PTSRS is planning a relatively casual cars and coffee in Manhattan for next week, so we wanted to help spread the word.

    Event Details:

In a post on Instagram (embedded above), PTSRS shared details on the Tribeca event:

“Heads up! Next Saturday Feb 15th 9-11am, I will be hosting my first ever @ptsrs Cars & Coffee in New York City, together with my friend @porschestimmung of @metronypca.

It will be at Laughing Man Cafe (@laughingmancoffee) in Tribeca. Join us for good vibes with great people and excellent coffee. We have an awesome community of readers here in the New York metro area, so I’m looking forward to this first gathering.

“Please RSVP in the Eventbrite link in my bio. It will help us plan for headcount and spaces. Limited parking.

    • 🗓️ Saturday, February 15th 9-11am
    • ☕️ Laughing Man Cafe (@laughingmancoffee)
    • 📍 184 Duane St, New York 10003
    • ✅ RSVP @ link (on Eventbrite HERE.)

    Our Take:

Yes, it’ll be cold and it will be New York City where space is always a challenge. However, a cold New York City morning means parking in the area should be ample. That last part is important to know, because at the time of this writing the set spaces PTSRS had reserved for attendees are reportedly already spoken for.

The event listing on Eventbrite shares that the event is open to all makes and models, so we’re not certain how Paint to Sample focused it will be. Also, it’s worth noting the toll structure around New York City. The event listing advises getting into the congestion zone by 9AM to pay the weekend overnight amount ($2.90 w/ E-ZPass) for all day access to points in lower Manhattan.

We’re planning to attend, and will provide coverage if the turnout is notably tailored. See you then!

  • Color Check: Paint to Sample X Blue on Porsche 911 Turbo S Lightweight “000” Commission at Porsche Main Line

Color Check: Paint to Sample X Blue on Porsche 911 Turbo S Lightweight “000” Commission at Porsche Main Line

Porsche is celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the 911 Turbo this year, and 000 Magazine is doing the same this coming weekend with their Turbo 50 celebration at Summit Skywalker Ranch. Given that, it’s worth celebrating this X Blue 911 Turbo S owned by Drew Coblitz, purchased through Porsche Main Line. It is reportedly the first delivered 911 Turbo S “000 Commission” and was recently detailed more specifically by @PTSRS.

Given all that, let’s dig into the details. For starters, the X Blue (xblau; non-metallic UNI; Z91; Porsche) color is Paint to Sample and non-metallic. This blue is a modern blue formulation created for the 911 (992.1) Belgian Legends Edition created in 2020 to honor Jacky Ickx 75th birthday. It’s a solid blue that is reportedly darker than Dark Sea Blue and is offered on the 911 and Taycan. Given the Ickx association, it’s quite likely it also harks the dark blue of Rothman’s Racing liveries his Porsches wore in races such as the Paris-Dakar Rally or 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Side Note: @PTSRS has an interesting indexing format for paints seen here (name; type; code), and we’re going to adopt that with the addition of brand (name; type; code; brand) since we cover more than just Porsche. The intention is to adopt more universal standardization of paint code identity when we know the code and type. In this case, it’s (xblau; non-metallic UNI; Z91; Porsche).

Back to the 000 Commission specification, it’s based on an “off the menu” mix created to be built in conjunction with the a 911 Turbo S with factory Lightweight Package. From there, special wishes details were chosen along a theme celebrating David Donner‘s victory at the 100th Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb. In that race, Donner’s 9 minutes 53 second record run was performed in a 000 Magazine liveried 911 Turbo S #000. A creative mix of details and easter eggs thanks to ample deployment of Sonderwunsch services complete the specification.

@PTSRS inventories the Sonderwunsch details as such:

    • Laser-etched “000” on Front Bumper Grille as on Pikes Peak Winner
    • Exterior Mirrors in Carmine Red as on Pikes Peak Winner
    • “Peak 100” Logo Decals on Doors
    • 000 Decal under Rear Wing as on Pikes Peak Winner
    • Illuminated Door-Sill Guards in Matte Carbon with 000 Logo
    • Center Armrest embossed with Pikes Peak course map and “9:53”
    • Custom Dashboard Inlay denoting #000 911 Turbo S’s Class Win and PPIHC Certified Course Time
    • Derpy in the Fuel Cap

For a client to order an “000 Commission”, they must build from a 911 Turbo S Coupe allocation, adding the Lightweight Package, Full Bucket Seats or 18-way Sport Seats Plus, 20/21-inch 911 Turbo S Exclusive Design wheels, Wheel Inlays Painted High Gloss Black and Calipers in High Gloss Black.

From there, they can coordinate with their Porsche dealer to create a Sonderwunsch order with the factory. And while the “000 Commission” can be ordered on any color 911 Turbo S so-fitted, they’ll also need a Paint to Sample allocation if they wish to do special paint like the Coblitz X Blue car.
