Fancy yourself a modernized Range Rover Classic? Then the car you see here may be the perfect answer. Yes, we all know they didn’t build Range Rover Classics in 2017, but this one’s been built on a Discovery 3 chassis.

The truck you see here was built by Chieftain as a reimagining of the classic, one of the first examples built by the firm and used as a demonstrator, appearing in multiple magazine stories and company promotional materials. From there it was sold from JIA Ltd—parent company of Chieftain to its current owner in July 2020.

The colors and miles aren’t in the listing by RM, but we’d be surprised if they can’t provide that for you.

  • Range Rover at Milan Design Week

Range Rover at Milan Design Week

Leading luxury brand, Range Rover, has unveiled its first landmark installation at Milan Design Week: Futurespective: Connected Worlds, designed in collaboration with California‑based innovation design studio NUOVA, who create immersive spatial performances.

    [source: Range Rover]

Presented at the 18th century Palazzo Belgioioso, Futurespective: Connected Worlds is a dynamic experience that transports visitors between two time portals. Together with Range Rover’s in‑house creative team, NUOVA visually narrates Range Rover’s design lineage and enduring influence on modern luxury through a cinematic journey across the two distinct eras, from 1970 to 2025. A multisensory experience, the interiors include bespoke furniture and soundscapes alongside custom scents by Aeir, NUOVA’s carbon negative luxury fragrance brand, all designed exclusively for Range Rover.

The historic Piazza Belgioioso becomes the stage for time travel with a 25 metre monolith in the centre of the Piazza, adorned with a gold Range Rover brand motif that signals the entrance for time travel. Transporting visitors back to the moment of the inaugural vehicle production, the first capsule takes inspiration from an original 1970s car dealership. At its centre, a particularly significant Classic Range Rover: the very first of the marque’s pre‑production vehicles built ahead of its launch in 1970, ‘YVB 151H’ sits within a nostalgic seventies interior. A celebration of the earliest Range Rover and the brand’s roots in luxury design, the two‑door pre‑production car in its original Olive Green colour is staged within a wooden paneled room with rich colours and tactile textures. NUOVA has designed custom furniture pieces for the space, including an oxblood red sofa, a circular version of their Enzo table in white Carrara marble and bespoke desk chairs. Retro details—such as a fish tank, archival artifacts, and original sketches—enhance the era’s ambiance. The space is bathed in a warm light from 44 bespoke beam ceiling lights, accentuating the iconic silhouettes and luxurious colours within the interior.

A multi‑dimensional experience, the time spent in the first portal is an orchestrated musical performance which play through Dorothy, their chrome plated speaker in the space and is filled with Grand Rose, an incense‑like fragrance that evokes the scents of the seventies with notes of old dollar bills and leather. NUOVA has created bespoke artifacts for time travel for Range Rover, alongside custom‑designed furniture, outfits for the ‘time travel’ concierge have been designed in collaboration with LA based luxury garment atelier L’Equip, inspired by 1970s workwear and British fashion.

From here, visitors journey into the next timeframe. Representing Range Rover’s contemporary vision, the second capsule is a future‑looking ethereal space with a prismatic light box interior lined with vertical mirror pillars, acting as symbols for strings of time. In the centre of the space, flooded by light, is the latest fifth‑generation Range Rover Autobiography, an emblem of modern luxury travel. Crafted with a Bespoke metallic green exterior finish – a tribute to its Classic predecessor – the interplay between the two cars and spaces is a symbol of the brand’s informed evolution and identity. This capsule offers a moment of reflection, with ambient sounds and a custom cool scent Wet Stone filling the space.

Throughout the time travel experience, guests will be guided by hosts who embody their respective era.

  • JLR Micro-Batches Range Rover Sport SV Park City Edition

JLR Micro-Batches Range Rover Sport SV Park City Edition

An interesting take on limited editions might just be the latest from Range Rover. Dubbed the Range Rover Sport SV Park City Edition, the brand dropped images on their social media channel recently. We’ll embed that here.

Why are we calling it a “micro batch”? In the comments they mentioned it’s a run limited to just three units.

Beyond the photos, Range Rover hasn’t yet shared further details than that. With just three units being sold though, one has to wonder if three friends from Park City, Utah decided to do a group buy of a storm trooper spec Range Rover Sport SV.

“Monte Carlo Worthy” is maybe the best way ever to describe a pristine vintage luxury car, and that’s precisely how Gallery Aaldering leads in explaining the Bahama Gold example you see here. Why? Well, for starters it spent its last ten years residing in Monte Carlo.

Remember, this is the place where F1 champions valet whatever the hell they want to because they are F1 champions, or cruise the streets of this ultra exclusive town past yachts and casinos. Having the most expensive anything is likely passé, though perhaps so too is going back to Monte Carlo with someone else’s former Range.

So maybe don’t go back to Monte Carlo. Even still, if you’re seeking one of the best known examples of Range Rover’s 2-door early trucks with an incredible specification including manual transmission, we know where you can find one.

  • Vision for Range Rover SV Bespoke: Presenting the Range Rover SV Candeo

Vision for Range Rover SV Bespoke: Presenting the Range Rover SV Candeo

    • Range Rover is debuting its newest and most highly crafted SV Bespoke vehicle at Design Miami. Range Rover SV Candeo, which means ‘to shine’ or ‘to glow’ in Latin, is a one‑of‑one vehicle inspired by the sunrises of the Miami coastline
    • Featuring hand‑finished, 18K solid gold Range Rover script badging, expertly 3D printed and crafted by British jewelers from fully recycled gold responsibly sourced from around the world
    • A unique, hand‑applied duo‑tone fade paint finish harmonizes beautifully, evoking the Miami coastal skyline; the first time such a paint finish has ever been executed on a Range Rover vehicle
    • Exquisite one‑of‑a‑kind embroidery design characterizes the theme of light; distinctive rear seat cushions alone feature 90,000 stitches each, alongside embroidered seat backs and, for the first time, an embroidered headlining
    • A year in the making, the Range Rover SV Candeo signals the future of SV Bespoke personalization for Range Rover’s most discerning clients seeking the ultimate luxurious finishes
    • The Range Rover SV Candeo is on display at Design Miami from December 3‑8, 2024

Drawing inspiration from the cool tones of Miami’s famed coastline, Range Rover has crafted a unique curation that expresses this natural beauty. The Range Rover SV Candeo, defined as ‘to shine’ in Latin, reflects the world‑famous oceanic vistas. Displayed during Design Miami, as part of Range Rover’s official partnership, it is presented in a space dedicated to the Range Rover’s guiding modernist design philosophy, with a cinematic backdrop storying Miami’s landscape and oceanic views.

The exterior features a duo‑tone paint finish – applied by hand to create a graceful ombre effect from a bespoke sky‑blue satin hood color fading into a lustrous pearl white along the upper portion of the distinctive Range Rover silhouette. This elegant color combination magically captures the subtle golden reflections shimmering on the clear blue waters of Miami. The exterior is finished with Forged 23‑inch Diamond Turned directional alloy wheels with matching pearl white inserts.

Complementing the exterior on the front and rear lies exquisitely‑crafted 18K solid gold Range Rover script badging – weighing in at over 900g; more gold than has ever been applied to a Range Rover before. The gold is recycled from 100% fully audited recycled sources, preserving natural resources. Each letter features an 18K yellow‑gold outer and white‑gold inner and is 3D printed for precision, hallmarked, then hand‑finished by a British Jeweler to ensure it lies perfectly flush – with a polished outer edge and a brushed face.

The interior of this unique and exclusive vehicle is the perfect combination of harmonious tones; a Liberty Blue Near‑Aniline and Perlino Semi‑Aniline leather finish capturing the essence of the transformation between dawn to noon. This theme is further brought to life with careful and considered embroidery across the cabin, as well as Natural Dark wood veneers and white ceramic finishes on the gear shifter and controls.

Luxurious left and right seat backs feature a radiating sunrise motif meticulously embroidered– viewed in all its glory from the front looking rearwards, where the rays seemingly stretch to each corner of the interior. For the first time, Range Rover SV Candeo features an embroidered headlining, finished in Perlino with nuances of gold in different lights, continuing the theme of sunrise. Cabin cushions feature a geometric sundial repeat pattern, with 90,000 stitches per cushion for a tactile, intriguing and precise finish that exemplifies workmanship beyond compare.

The rear cabin of the Range Rover SV Candeo offers unparalleled comfort for two rear‑seat passengers. SV Signature suite seats with Range Rover SV‑specific contours feature 24‑way adjustment with massage functionality, complete with a chiller compartment for drinks, while an elegant electrically deployable Club Table rises theatrically from the fixed full‑length center console on beautifully engineered supports to provide a convenient workspace when required.

Completing this unique creation is the Tailgate Event Suite – inspired by the calming glow of morning sunrises across the Miami coast – finished in Liberty Blue Near‑Analine leather with embroidered seat cushions featuring a unique radial sun design.

The SV Bespoke commissioning service is available on Range Rover SV and Autobiography cars. Clients are invited to begin their Bespoke journey via their preferred Range Rover retailer or by contacting bespoke@jaguarlandrover.com directly. • Feature: Queen Elizabeth’s State Review Land Rovers In Class of Their Own at Pebble Beach

Feature: Queen Elizabeth’s State Review Land Rovers In Class of Their Own at Pebble Beach

With a few new creative classes, the Pebble Beach Concours is showing it can evolve into the future and be even more relevant to younger generations. It gets there by embracing car trends that came after the golden era cars that typically grace their greens. And had you wandered past the homologation car arrangement and 70s wedge class, you’d have rolled up on the first SUVs ever to occupy real estate at this vaunted event. Were they worthy, well they each belonged to Queen Elizabeth and were presented by Defender and Range Rover.

JLR’s association with the Royals goes considerably far back, and is an official supplier for their vehicles.

“It was amazing to witness Her Majesty’s ten Land Rovers and Range Rovers rolling past the front door of The Lodge at Pebble Beach and pulling on to the famed fairways of Pebble Beach Golf Links – and I was honoured to greet them there. Crowds were astonished and delighted. Later in the day, the vehicles were an impressive sight parading across our show ramp during the Awards Ceremony – to great applause.,” commented Sandra Button, Chairman of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

We took particular interest in a segment of the display that included a line of Defenders and Range Rovers painted very similarly. Each was a deep and dark red-purple, with thin pin stripe and with royal coat of arms on the door. These cars were official royal service vehicles known State Review or Royal Ceremonial State vehicles. Each were built by Land Rover to specification for the royals for use in the given period ordered. As you can see, there’s a distinct lineage and these vehicles can see service for many years.

Walking past each generation Royal Ceremonial State, it was clear there was a shared specification. Wanting to learn more, we reached out to representatives at JLR and learned some interesting details.

The color of these cars is known as “Claret”, though sometimes called “Royal Claret”. This traditional royal color actually pre-dates the automobile and was used on state carriages. It is reserved only for vehicles in Royal service, meaning neither Land Rover nor JLR have ever offered it on a civilian model.

The first State Review Land Rover was built on a 1954 Series 1 and featured a custom rear platform. It traveled with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip on a six-month tour of the British commonwealth. It even made its way to Australia in that time, though today resides in the U.S. where it is owned by a private collector.

This next State Review vehicle was the first Range Rover to carry to serve in such capacity and was built on a 1974 model. It was used from 1975 to 2002, with a modified rear that featured foldaway seats and a lectern with concealed umbrellas. An additional exhaust silencer was also fitted. This vehicle is currently housed in The Royal Collection at The British Motor Museum in Gaydon, UK.

The third State Review Vehicle was based on a 1990 Range Rover. This particular vehicle was notably featured in the photo chosen by the Queen herself for her 1994 Christmas Card. That photo depicted the Queen and Prince Philip aboard the Range Rover attending the 50th Anniversary the D-Day landings in Arromanches. It is also part of The Royal Collection at The British Motor Museum.

The fourth in this State Review vehicle series is a 1998 Range Rover P38A. Built by Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations, it replaced the previous 1990 State Review Range Rover and featured a rear platform design now featuring four foldaway seats rather than the previous two.

The fifth and final State Review vehicle on display at Pebble Beach is this 2005 Range Rover L322. Again built by Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations, this vehicle was notably used to transport the then Prince William, Kate Middleton and Prince Harry during Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday parade in 2016.

We have to say, while we understand why JLR has no interest in building a Queen Elizabeth-specification Royal Claret Range Rover, that doesn’t make us want one any less. Special thanks to the team at JLR North America who entertained and provided answers for our very specific questions in regard to these vehicles.

    SV EDITION TWO: DESIGN CURATIONS

Four new curations that are unique to new SV EDITION TWO offer visually striking variations.

Immediately dramatic, the Blue Nebula specification features a matte finish – the color itself inspired by the Northern Atlantic coast, containing a hint of green, finished with a color shifting effect. This is paired with the new Satin Forged Carbon exterior pack, a painted carbon‑fiber bonnet and 23‑inch forged black alloy wheels – complemented by Blue Nebula brake calipers. Inside, SV Performance Seats are finished in Light Cloud and Ebony Windsor leather.

For the second curation, a Marl Grey Gloss exterior is paired with a Gloss Carbon Twill exterior pack, Exposed Carbon Twill bonnet and 23‑inch Carbon Gloss wheels with Sunrise Copper calipers, offered with a Rosewood and Ebony Windsor interior.

The third curation offers a Sunrise Copper Satin exterior finish, with Satin Carbon Twill exterior pack, painted carbon fiber bonnet and a 23‑inch forged black alloy wheel with red anodized calipers. Inside, the seats are upholstered in Ebony Windsor leather.

The fourth and final exclusive curation features a Ligurian Black Gloss exterior with Satin Carbon Twill exterior pack, exposed carbon fiber bonnet and 23‑inch Carbon Gloss wheels with contrasting Nano Yellow brake caliper, and Cinder and Ebony interior in Knit and UltrafabricsTM PU.

For each curation, clients can opt for alternative wheels – including new 22‑inch Diamond‑Turned alloy wheels with Satin Dark Grey contrast – plus different brake caliper colors. The exterior of each SV EDITION TWO can be specified with a body‑colored roof, a new Satin Forged Carbon Fiber Pack, or Twill Carbon Fiber Pack introduced on SV EDITION ONE, as per the client’s preference, and dependent on the exterior paint finish.

Inside, new Satin Forged Carbon Fiber trim finishers can be specified to match the exterior, with Twill Carbon Fiber trim finishers also available, with matching carbon fiber seat backs. Every SV EDITION TWO comes with Body and Soul Seats (BASS) and the option of Knit and UltrafabricsTM PU, or Windsor leather.

    Interior Design

A long press opens the Configurable Dynamics(5) menu, where the driver can tailor the dynamic characteristics of Range Rover Sport SV to suit their preferences.

The enlarged gear‑shift paddles incorporate innovative LED Edge‑Lighting Technology. The +/‑ symbols are illuminated white when the vehicle is switched on. When SV Mode is activated, the illumination changes to red.
