Porsche x Ferragamo Collaborate for Special Edition 911 and Taycan

Porsche and the heritage Italian brand Ferragamo are known for timeless design, authentic craftsmanship, meticulous attention to detail and uncompromising quality. The two companies have joined forces to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Porsche Italia.

Porsche Italia is launching two special-edition models created in collaboration with Ferragamo, which are based on the 911 Carrera 4 GTS and Taycan 4S. In the style of the fashion brand, the experts at Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur have elaborately refined both the exterior and the interior of the two iconic sports cars. A standout highlight is Blusogno – a special colour inspired by a Ferragamo collection. This shade also features in the interior, and, in combination with the blue Paldao wood décor, conveys a subtle elegance. The special-edition models are available in limited numbers exclusively for the Italian market.

Ferregamo and Porsche are inspired by the same vision

Both pioneers made their dreams come true, laying the foundation for a success story that continues to this day. Salvatore Ferragamo became famous in Hollywood by custom-making shoes for movie stars. In 1927, the ‘shoemaker of dreams’, as he was known, returned to his homeland and settled near Florence. And in 1948, Ferry Porsche realised his dream of building a sports car with the 356 ‘No. 1’ Roadster. This model marked the beginning of a strong brand with products that are still highly sought after today.

“Our dream was to create something truly unique that embodies the spirit that has guided us for the past 40 years: Porsche style combined with Italian culture and aesthetics. That’s why we chose Ferragamo as a partner for this project – a brand with which we share values such as excellence of craftsmanship, timeless elegance and a tireless attention to detail,” says Pietro Innocenti, CEO of Porsche Italia. “The collaboration with Ferragamo and the team at Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur in Zuffenhausen has enabled us to implement this vision in a way that is both authentic and forward-looking. These values will continue to inspire and guide us in the future.”

“When Porsche asked Ferragamo to contribute to this anniversary, the main idea was to change as little as possible and focus on refined details. Because Porsche is already perfect,” says Leonardo Ferragamo, Chairman of Salvatore Ferragamo. “The aim of this collaboration was to create an authentic and meaningful synergy between two iconic brands that both share the same values: design, excellence, craftsmanship and the courage to innovate. We wanted to tell an emotive story rooted in the idea of dreaming. My father Salvatore was known as ‘the shoemaker of dreams’, while Porsche continues to be driven by dreams.”

The collaboration: a close exchange between the two brands

“Both Porsche and Ferragamo are characterised by a signature design that is of timeless elegance. We have taken this minimalist, purist approach to the extreme with the ’40 Anni Porsche Italia’ models,” says Grant Larson, Director Special Projects Design at Porsche. “Salvatore Ferragamo experimented a lot with unusual natural materials,” the designer continues. “This encouraged us to take unusual paths in the interior and to dye the Paldao wood blue – a novelty for us at Porsche that emphasises the understated character of these limited-edition models.”

Both design teams were in close contact with each other during the project. The Ferragamo team travelled to Zuffenhausen, and the Porsche and Porsche Italia team were guests in Florence. The perfect Blusogno shade was developed using leather and fabric samples from Ferragamo’s iconic shoulder bag and signature fashion pieces.

The exterior: Blusogno paintwork with white fine lines

Through its Paint to Sample Plus programme, Porsche offers customers the opportunity to create completely individual colours for their cars. Blusogno was developed as a special colour exclusively for this special edition. Thin, precise lines – known as fine lines – add an accent that conveys elegance and dynamism. These white fine lines, inspired by Ferragamo design elements, are mounted on the front lid and rear spoiler and elegantly follow the flow of air over and around the car.

Both B-pillars bear a commemorative plaque with a prominent ‘40’, the years 1985 and 2025 and the words ‘Porsche’ and ‘Italia’ – in tribute to Porsche Italia’s 40th anniversary. All these elements are raised slightly so that they can be felt across the surface.

The wheels have been painted in Blusogno and finished with white, hand-painted pinstripes. The wheel hub cover also bears the exclusive blue colour, which forms a striking contrast to the red Porsche crest. At the rear, the model lettering is painted by hand in white and outlined in Blusogno, which gives the overall design an almost noble, harmonious touch.

The interior: Blusogno leather with blue Paldao wood trim

Blusogno also features heavily inside the car. Leather and yarn were developed and produced especially for the project in this special colour. The front and rear seats, the GT sports steering wheel and details on the centre console are upholstered in Blusogno leather. Modern Pebble Grey piping on the seats and the corresponding 12 o’clock marking on the GT sports steering wheel pick up on the bright accents of the exterior. The car’s document folder and key pouch are also made of Blusogno leather. In the 911, the gear lever is covered with Blusogno leather on the sides. Red trim strips on the storage compartments and in the trunk provide a contrast.

The dashboard and centre console of the 911 as well as the door mirrors of the Taycan are finished with Paldao wood in the exclusive Blusogno colour too. The large wooden surfaces in the door panels are divided by colour: the upper part in blue, the lower part in elegant black. In the 911, an aluminium inlay with a ‘40 Anni Porsche Italia’ logo further enhances the dashboard on the passenger side. In the Taycan, this logo is affixed to a special plaque in the centre console. A white illuminated Ferragamo logo is integrated into the door sill guards, which are made of black brushed aluminium.

The SportChrono clock at the top of the dashboard has a bespoke dial that plays with the colours of the Italian Tricolour in a subtly elegant way: the rings are green, white and red, and the second hand is red.

The sides of the vehicle key are painted in Blusogno. The edition also includes a custom-made indoor ca cover in the same colour with white piping, a coloured Porsche crest on the front, and white Ferragamo lettering on the sides.

Spoiler alert: this car is a respray. It was originally Grand Prix White over tan, meaning both the interior and exterior have experienced a color change. That said, it appears that no expense was likely spared in making it happen, while whomever did the work appears to have faithfully recreated the Porsche without taking liberties so as to make it look as if it could have been a period Paint to Sample. That’s both pretty cool and pretty rare.

We also like that it’s tone on tone. After having spent some years street parked in Manhattan, this car went in for a color change where the owner wanted the “creamiest” 964 ever. The color is period correct Apricot Beige, offered on the Porsche 928 and 911 from 1989-1990. And since beige wasn’t exactly in fashion in that period, the install rate was practically nonexistent. For the owner then, that made it near perfect for his needs – OEM, obscure and period correct.

While they were at it, they also redid the interior in a tone-on-tone match, replacing the factory tan leather with a lighter creamy beige leather. Some Alcantara was also used, which isn’t exactly period correct on a Porsche 964 but you’d likely need to be a super nerd to know that.

At $150K, this car is more expensive than the equivalent 1991 911 Carrera 2, though probably not far off from what a rare and well kept equivalent in paint to sample finish and Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur special interior. If these colors work for you or you’re seeking a 964-era 911 that’s super unique and that you won’t have to feel guilty logging miles driving then it’s probably worth the investment.

Admittedly, non M versions of the BMW Z3 tend to get overlooked by the enthusiast marketplaces. Nevertheless, that first-generation BMW Z3 (a Bond car after all) is a handsome and now quite affordable enthusiast option… made even more compelling through a proper spec.

From our perspective, a tone-on-tone car in rare color (Oxford Green Metallic) already qualifies. Now, throw in an optional hardtop and it makes an even more compelling case.

This car does have some wear. We can see some wearing of the green finish on the steering wheel and worn BMW roundels on the car’s front quarter panels, but a little bit of care and attention would likely make this car a highly enjoyable affordable tailored driver.

There’s something about a unique car from a time when acquiring something tailored wasn’t just a matter of chatting up a sales guy at a dealer and wandering into a lounge where all your options are laid out readily in front of you. Yes, it’s not always that easy today, but it was much harder back in the day… say 1992, when this very unique 512 TR was manufactured.

Rare paint? Check. Rosso Winner, a deep dark cabernet of a red that doesn’t look a thing like every other red Testarossa on the planet. Now, add in tone-on-tone red leather interior for good measure and you have something particularly tasteful? Don’t like a red-on-red Ferrari? Too bad. Literally every F40 that hasn’t been re-trimmed or sold to the Sultan of Brunei is red-over-red. Alas, none are Rosso Winner over red. That’s a shame.

Alright, this one’s a bit of a mystery. A semi-thorough Googling searching this car doesn’t reveal any details while the Lamborghini dealership that has it in inventory also offers no online description. Perhaps by the time you read this they will have provided us some details. If you’re reading this and no further details are offered though, that means we were unable to learn more about this highly unusual Porsche 959 as of this time.

Here’s what we can glean from the photos. The car appears to be red and may be Guards Red based on other known 959s. If it’s Guards Red, that would definitely make it rare given Porsche’s most ubiquitous red wasn’t the standard red offering, which would have bene Ruby Red.

There’s a whole lot more going on here though than red paint. Given there were so few 959s, color-matched wheels and red interior also would have been special wishes.

The seats are also worth a mention, color-matched Recaro Pole Positions. Porsche wasn’t installing Pole Positions in their cars until the 964 era, though the earliest 964s were leaving the factory at about the same time and it all would have been interchangeable. Based on the leather fitment around the harness holes on the bolsters though, it’s probably more likely this car was redone and that interior reupholstered at some point.

The car has no roll cage, so it appears to be based on a 959 Komfort.

Given it’s a 959, we reached out to Bruce Canepa at Canepa Design. Bruce is literally the author of the Show and Display rule that he got passed when importing cars for Paul Allen and Bill Gates. Today, his firm in Scotts Valley is responsible for the incredible 959 SC commissioned reimagined cars. The world of Porsche 959s isn’t that big, so we figured Bruce would know the car.

What we learned is that we’re nearly certain the car didn’t leave the factory this way, especially with the later 964-era Recaro seats. Bruce also confirmed that this car is not one of the 123 959s to date that have gone through his shop, so he’d never actually seen it in person even though several clients had approached him about the car. Whether or not the changes were done by Porsche themselves at Werk 1 Bruce wasn’t able to confirm, nor whether or not the changes were done in period.

Thanks to Bruce Canepa for further insight into the car.

A notable detail about the 308 GT4. It is the only factory Ferrari design from Bertone, a Gandini original. Though these don’t carry the premium of earlier Pininfarina Dinos, the 308 GT4 represents one of the genuine bargains in the Ferrari collector world.

As measured by its Viola Metallic paint, this Porsche 911 Turbo S delivered new to Brumos Porsche is one of just three U.S. market cars to get this color. Now pair it with its unique interior specification and it is believed to be one-of-one.

While the paint is self explanatory when viewing these incredible shots provided by RM Sotheby’s, the interior is worth lingering on for a bit more detail. Leather is special Rubicon Grey leather that, to our eye, looks quite lavender in these photos. Does that qualify this car as tone-on-tone purple-on-purple?

Even better, the interior doesn’t just stop at the unique hue of the leather. Porsche Exclusive extended leather abounds, including the heated and power-adjustable 993-era racing-style sport seats. Deviated stitching in Speed Yellow and Speed Yellow seat belts tie in the yellow of the brake calipers, not to mention pop as accents on a purple background given yellow and purple are color spectrum opposites.

Other interior equipment includes carbon fiber interior trim on the dashboard, door panels, door pulls, and Tequipment shift knob and emergency brake handle. Other equipment includes power sunroof, staggered light alloy wheels, Digital Sound Packag, embossed headrests and Litronic headlights.

While the Porsche 911 964 generation was definitely sold in the United States, the last of the primarily hand built and upright headlight air-cooled 911s has become a rare and valuable commodity thanks to the likes of Singer and RWB conversions. Given that, seeking out cars in Europe can not only net more selection, it can also pay a bonus with rare specifications most American buyers weren’t likely to order. We think this green-on-green 1991 911 Carrera 2 Targa qualifies.

This Belgian-delivered Targa is painted Oak Green Metallic, listed as a Paint to Sample by the dealer. While we know Oak Green was available during the 964 production run at times, we’re not certain about its availability for the Belgian market in 1991 specifically. Regardless, it’s a rare and attractive color on a 964, and that’s made even more appealing and rare with the unexpected interior specification.

Primarily, the interior specification is most unforgettable thanks to its extremely rare Sherwood Green Leather – optional in Europe, but a rare find to be sure. Other options for this car include English labeling, headlight washers, standard bolster electrically operated seats for both driver and passenger, cassette and coin holder, power antenna and speakers, no amplifier, no airbag, lighting regulation, split rear seat backrest, and velours carpet in trunk.

You’ll note the same green finish on elements such as the no-airbag steering wheel and shiftknob. Here, in these high touchpoint locations, the green is starting to wear off. These pieces are unobtainium and the car is likely worth more with them still unrestored and in the car, but they’re worth noting.

The price on this car isn’t especially low for a 964 Targa, but the mileage is also quite low and the specification is highly unique.

Maybe it just makes sense, but Bentley Beverly Hills has established itself as one of the foremost stockists of pastel-colored Bentley motor cars. We’ve highlighted them before on this site, and this particular purple Continental GT S fits snugly within that mold.

The color is Beluga over Lilac Frost, a pastel purple unlike anything you’re likely to see on a modern car. Although, in the home town of Paris Hilton and her own pink Bentley, it’s not hard to get why this purple GT S would make a compelling case.
